Lately, customers think highly of the emotional satisfaction and as a result, issues on odor are matters of concern. The cases are odor of interior material and air-conditioner of vehicles. In particualar, with respect to the odor of air-conditioner, customers strongly claimed defects with provocative comments : "It smells like something rotten," "It smells like a foot odor," "It stinks like a rag." Generally, it is known that mold of evaporator core in the air-conditioning system decays and this produce VOCs which causes the odor to occur. In this study, partial least squares regression model is applied to predict the strength of the odor and select of important VOCs which affect car air conditioning smell. The PLS method is basically a particular multilinear regression algorithm which can handle correlated inputs and limited data. The number of latent variable is determined by the point which is stabilized mean absolute deviations of VOCs data. Also multiple linear regression is carried out to confirm the validity of PLS method.

Mirror surface machining for large area flattening in the display field has a problem such as a tool wear and a increase in machining time due to large area machining. It should be studied to decrease machining time and tool wear. In this paper, multi-tool machining method using a PCD tool and a SCD tool was applied in order to decrease machining time and tool wear. Machining characteristics (cutting force, machined surface and surface roughness) of PCD tool and SCD tool were evaluated in order to apply PCD tool to flattening machining. Based on basic experiments, the PCD/SCD multi-tool method and the SCD single-tool method were compared through surface roughness and machining time for appllying large area mold machining.
In this study, an economical and effective processing technique to form multiple dimples on the surface of a composite part, which are known to be useful to improve aerodynamic performance and heat dissipation. Forming dimples on the surface using molds is an expensive processing because forming multiple tiny positive spheres on the surface of the mold requires much time and effort. In this study, plates with multiple round holes are utilized as a core to form dimples on the carbon/epoxy composite skin covering the core. A vacuum bagging process is used to apply pressure on the surface while curing. Composite parts which have multiple dimples on the surface can be utilized in the field which needs high aerodynamic performance and heat dissipation ability such as high speed sports car bodies.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Zirconia-based restorations have the common technical complication of delamination, or porcelain chipping, from the zirconia core. Thus the shear bond strength between the zirconia core and the veneering porcelain requires investigation in order to facilitate the material's clinical use. PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bonding strength of the porcelain veneer to the zirconia core and to other various metal alloys (high noble metal alloy and base metal alloy). MATERIAL AND METHODS. 15 rectangular ($4\times4\times9mm$) specimens each of zirconia (Cercon), base metal alloy (Tillite), high noble metal alloy (Degudent H) were fabricated for the shear bond strength test. The veneering porcelain recommended by the manufacturer for each type of material was fired to the core in thickness of 3mm. After firing, the specimens were embedded in the PTFE mold, placed on a mounting jig, and subjected to shear force in a universal testing machine. Load was applied at a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min until fracture. The average shear strength (MPa) was analyzed with the oneway ANOVA and the Tukey's test ($\alpha$= .05). The fractured specimens were examined using SEM and EDX to determine the failure pattern. RESULTS. The mean shear strength ($\pm\;SD$) in MPa was 25.43 ($\pm\;3.12$) in the zirconia group, 35.87 ($\pm\;4.23$) in the base metal group, 38.00 ($\pm\;5.23$) in the high noble metal group. The ANOVA showed a significant difference among groups, and the Tukey' s test presented a significant difference between the zirconia group and the metal group. Microscopic examination showed that the failure primarily occurred near the interface with the residual veneering porcelain remaining on the core. CONCLUSION. There was a significant difference between the metal ceramic and zirconia ceramic group in shear bond strength. There was no significant difference between the base metal alloy and the high noble metal alloy.

This study aims to investigate the structural performance of hollow-core slab (HCS) memebers with 400 mm thickness. To this end, a total of four HCS specimens were fabricated based on the individual mold method to provide shear reinforcement, unlike the extrusion method. The key variables were chosen as the presence of topping concrete, core-filling concrete, and shear reinforcements. The crack patterns and load-displacement responses of the test specimens were analyzed in detail. Test results showed that inclined shear cracking occurred all the specimens, and that the specimen with shear reinforcement on the web of HCS unit had higher strength and ductility than the specimen without shear reinforcement. In particular, shear reinforcements placed on the web of HCS unit effectively resisted not only to vertical shear force but also to horizontal shear force between the interface of HCS unit and topping concrete. In addition, it was discovered that the method in which shear reinforcements are placed on the web of HCS unit is more effective in improving structural performance than core-filling method.

ELID(Electrolytic In-process Dressing) grinding is an excellent technique for mirror grinding of various advanced metallic or nonmetallic materials. A polishing process is also required for elimination of scratches present on ELID grinded surfaces. MAP(Magnetic Assisted Polishing) has been used as polishing method due to its high polishing efficiency and to its resulting in a superior surface quality. This study is describing an effective fabrication method combining ELID and MAP of nano-precision mirror grinding for glass-lens molding mould. It also presents some techniques for achieving the nanometer roughness of the hard metals, such as WC-Co, which are extensively used in precision tooling material.
The objective of this paper is to investigate into the fabrication technology of cores for the injection mould with three-dimensional conformal cooling channels to reduce the cooling time. The location of the conformal cooling channels has been determined through the injection molding analysis. The mould has been manufactured from a hybrid rapid tooling technology, which is combined a direct metal rapid tooling with a machining process. Several injection molding experiments have been performed to examine the productivity and the validity of the designed mould. From the results of the experiments, it has been shown that the proposed mould can mold a final product within a cooling time of 3 seconds and a cycle time of 21 seconds, respectively.
Data transmission capacity that is required in 2010 is forecasted that increase by optical communication capacity more than present centuple, and is doing increased demand of optical communication related industry product present. Specially, Lid glass' application that is one of optical communication parts is used in optical communication parts manufacture of Fiber array, Ferrule array, Fanout Black, Silica optical waveguide chip and splitter etc. Also, it is used widely for communication network system, CATV, ATM-PON, FTTH and system. But, Lid glass need much processing times and becomes cause in rising prices of optical communication parts because production cost is expensive. The objectives, of this work is to suggest the micro concave and convex pattern manufacturing technology on borosilicate plate using high temperature and compression molding method. As a result, could developed micro pattern Mold more than 5 pattern, and reduce Lid Glass manufacture cycle time.
