Sn-Zn합금의 주조조건과 응고특성 (Casting Conditions and Solidification Characteristics of Sn-Zn Alloys)

  • An investigation has been conducted to describe solidification characteristics in Sn-Zn binary system and Sn-Zn-Ag ternary system added by Ag produced by the continuous casting process using heated mold as a basic study for developing Pb-free solder materials. To obtain the continuous casting rods with mirror surface and near net shape at higher casting speed, water flow rates must be increased and mold temperature must be lowered. However, surface tearing in the casting rods occured at lower continuous casting speed while break out occured at higher continuous casting speed even if optimum conditions such as water flow rate and heated mold temperature are determined. Primary ${\alpha}Sn$ and eutectic structure in unidirectioally solidified Sn-Zn alloys were finer with increased casting speed. But, directionality may not be expected for primary Zn in hypereutectic Sn-Zn alloy. It was found that the addition of $0.2{\sim}0.8%$ Ag promoted the growth of primary ${\alpha}Sn$ dendrites. The changes of tensile strength and elongation in Sn-Zn binary alloys were not observed while the increase of tensile strength and the decrease of elongation in Sn-Zn-Ag ternary alloys were observed with increased casting speed.

오미자차액 저장시의 부패와 이에 관여하는 미생물에 관한 연구 (A microbiological investigation of Omija (Schizandra chinesis Baillon) tea spoilage during storage)

  • 오미자차액은 여름철의 음료나 화채의 기액으로서 많이 사용하고 있는데, 그 열매는 산을 많이 함유하고 있어 pH가 낮아(2.8-3.0) 미생물의 성장을 효과적으로 저해할 수 있는 pH를 가지나 $25^{\circ}C$에 저장했을 때 부패가 일어나는 것이 확인되었고 부패균은 곰팡이와 효모이었으며 세균은 관찰되지 않았다. 저장 중 부패되고 있는 오미자차액의 적정산도나 pH에는 그다지 큰 변화가 없었고 열매를 걸러낸 오미자차액에서의 적정산도는 열매가 들어있는 오미자차액보다 낮았는데, 그 이유는 열매가 들어 있는 오미자차액의 열매에서 산이 계속 용출되어 나왔기 때문으로 판단된다. 열매를 거른 오미자차액의 부패가 열매가 들어 있는 오미자차액보다 조금 빠르며 그 저장성도 열매를 거른 오미자차액이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 오미자차액의 색상과 맛의 효과로서는 걸러서 보관하되 장기적인 저장은 바람직하지 못하다.

Morphological and Cultural Characteristics of Trichoderma spp. Associated with Green Mold of Oyster Mushroom in Korea

  • A total of 179 isolates of Trichoderma spp. were collected from oyster mushroom substrates in Korea. On the basis of morphological and cultural characteristics, Trichoderma isolates were divided into seven groups, namely T. atroviride, T. citrinoviride, T. harzianum, T. longibrachiatum, T. virens, and two unidentified species, referred to as Trichoderma sp. 1 and 2. The predominant species was Trichoderma sp. 2 (n=86) followed by Trichoderma sp. 1 (n=52). Trichoderma sp. 1 and 2 were morphologically distinct not only from the other species of Trichoderma reported but also from each other in the characteristics such as mycelial growth rate, colony appearance, shape of conidia and conidiophores and branching pattern of phialides, although branching pattern of phialides of Trichoderma sp. 1 was similar to that of T. harzianum. In virulence test, the degree for compost colonization of Trichoderma sp. 2 was significantly greater than that of the other Trichoderma species. Trichoderma sp. 2 was found to be the main cause of green mold disease in oyster mushroom production. More work including molecular characterization is needed to confirm the species of Trichoderma sp. 1 and 2.

Screening and Evaluation of Yeast Antagonists for Biological Control of Botrytis cinerea on Strawberry Fruits

  • Gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) is one of the most common diseases of strawberries (Fragaria${\times}$ananassa Duchesne) worldwide. Although many chemical fungicides are used for controlling the growth of B. cinerea, the risk of the fungus developing chemical resistance together with consumer demand for reducing the use of chemical fungicides have necessitated an alternative method to control this pathogen. Various naturally occurring microbes aggressively attack plant pathogens and benefit plants by suppressing diseases; these microbes are referred to as biocontrol agents. However, screening of potent biocontrol agents is essential for their further development and commercialization. In this study, 24 strains of yeast with antagonistic ability against gray mold were isolated, and the antifungal activity of the volatile and diffusible metabolites was evaluated. Putative mechanisms of action associated with the biocontrol capacity of yeast strains against B. cinerea were studied through in vitro and in vivo assays. The volatile organic compounds produced by the Galactomyces candidum JYC1146 could be useful in the biological control of plant pathogens and therefore are potential alternative fungicides with low environmental impact.

배합사료에 대한 항곰팡이제의 효과적인 처리 방법과 사료내 영양소 보전 방법 II. 항곰팡이제의 이용이 사료 영양소 보전 및 병아리 성장에 미치는 요인 (Studies on Factors to Increase Mold Inhibitor Effectiveness in Livestock Rations II. Effects of the Usage of a Mold Inhibitor in the Ration on the Nutritional Status and Performance of Chicks)

  • 단백질 수준이 18%인 초생추 사료와 12%인 비육우 후반기 사료를 입자도의 크기에 따라 전 사료의 80%가 1.19mm 이하인 것과 전 사료의 40%가 1.19mm 이하인 것으로 나누어서 40일간 저장후 각 처리구의 영양소 변화를 비교하였다. 영양소 변화를 비교한 후 초생추 사료만을 이용하여 입자의 크기를 다르게 하여 항곰팡이제를 처리한 사료와 처리하지 않은 사료에 대한 병아리의 성장 및 사료이용 정도 그리고 장기의 발달을 비교하였다. 항곰팡이가 처리되지 않은 사료에서는 2개의 다른 단백질 수준에서 공히 지방과 카로틴 함량은 현저히(P<0.05) 감소를 초래하였다. 항곰팡이제가 처리된 사료에서도 입자 크기가 1.1mm 보다 작은 것이 전체 사료의 40% 이하인 구에서는 지방과 카로틴의 함량이 40일간의 저장 후 에는 감소하는 추세를 보였다. 또 입자가 큰 사료에서 항곰팡이제를 처리하지 않았을 때는 신선한 사료나 항곰팡이제를 처리한 구에 비교하여 병아리의 성장이나 사료 섭취량은 현저히 감소(P<0.05)를 나타냈다. 사료효율 역시 항곰팡이제를 처리하지 않은 구에서 현저히 맞았다. (P<0.05), 그러나 각 장기의 무게에는 처리간에 차이를 나타내지 못하였다.

Effects of Dietary Synbiotics from Anaerobic Microflora on Growth Performance, Noxious Gas Emission and Fecal Pathogenic Bacteria Population in Weaning Pigs

  • Synbiotics is the term used for a mixture of probiotics (live microbial feed additives that beneficially affects the host animal) and prebiotics (non-digestible food ingredients that beneficially affect the organism). This study investigated the effect of probiotics from anaerobic microflora with prebiotics on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, noxious gas emission and fecal microbial population in weaning pigs. 150 pigs with an initial BW of 6.80${\pm}$0.32 kg (20 d of age) were randomly assigned to 5 dietary treatments as follows: i) US, basal diet+0.15% antibiotics (0.05% oxytetracycline 200 and 0.10% tiamulin 38 g), ii) BS, basal diet+0.2% synbiotics (probiotics from bacteria), iii) YS, basal diet+0.2% synbiotics (probiotics from yeast), iv) MS, basal diet+0.2% synbiotics (probiotics from mold), v) CS, basal diet+0.2% synbiotics (from compounds of bacteria, yeast and mold). The probiotics were contained in $10^{9}$ cfu/ml, $10^{5}$ cfu/ml and $10^{3}$ tfu/ml of bacteria, yeast and molds, respectively. The same prebiotics (mannan oligosaccharide, lactose, sodium acetate and ammonium citrate) was used for all the synbiotics. Pigs were housed individually for a 16-day experimental period. Growth performance showed no significant difference between antibiotic treatments and synbiotics-added treatments. The BS treatment showed higher (p<0.05) dry matter (DM) and nitrogen digestibility while ether extract and crude fiber digestibility were not affected by the dietary treatment. Also, the BS treatment decreased (p<0.05) fecal ammonia and amine gas emissions. Hydrogen sulfide concentration was also decreased (p<0.05) in BS, YS and MS treatments compared to other treatments. Moreover, all the synbioticsadded treatments increased fecal acetic acid concentration while the CS treatment had lower propionic acid concentration than the US treatment (p<0.05) gas emissions but decreased in fecal propionate gas emissions. Total fecal bacteria and Escherichia coli populations did not differ significantly among the treatments, while the Shigella counts were decreased (p<0.05) in synbiotics-included treatment. Fecal bacteria population was higher in the YS treatment than other treatments (p<0.05). The BS treatment had higher yeast concentration than YS, MS and CS treatments, while US treatment had higher mold concentrations than MS treatment (p<0.05). Therefore, the results of the present study suggest that synbiotics are as effective as antibiotics on growth performance, nutrient digestibility and fecal microflora composition in weaning pigs. Additionally, synbiotics from anaerobic microflora can decrease fecal noxious gas emission and synbiotics can substitute for antibiotics in weaning pigs.

국내 파인블랭킹 산업 현황과 기술 개발 (Korean fine blanking industries and technology development)

  • The company Daewoo Precision Industries imported fine blanking press of 40 tons from Switzerland with fine blanking tool in order to produce the fuse part of bomb in 1978 at first in Korea. About 1985 the first fine blanking tool for producing the door lock parts was manufactured in the company Gold Star (now LG). And then this technology was grown up with the growth of automobile industries in Korea. Now 31 companies are closely related to the fine blanking technology and there are total 146 fine blanking presses in Korea. The developments of fine blanking technology in industries have been oriented to the production of precise fine blanking parts, the reduction of die roll height on fine blanking parts, the production of complex fine blanking parts with progressive fine blanking tool including forming and forging technology, the production of high-strength steel fine blanking parts and so on. Some R&D activities in KITECH were introduced.

사출금형 버 발생 방지를 위한 형합면압 측정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Pressure Measurement at Parting Surface to Prevent Flashing in Injection Molds)

  • The flashing reduces the part quality and the productivity of the molding process. We developed a contact pressure sensor to detect the flashing immediately. The performance of the sensor was analyzed in a simple 2D simulation. The sensor was applied to an automotive bumper mold with cavity pressure sensors. It showed sensitive output signal for the mold response by the cavity pressure change. It was confirmed that the flashing at the gate area occurred in the filling stage by the pressure increase due to growth of the melt flow length. The sensor output was correlated with the cavity pressure sensor output.

제주도 비자림에서의 세포성 점균의 분포 및 비자열매 추출액의 성장 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Distribution and the Effect of Torreya Fruit Extract on Cellular Slime Molds in Torreya Forest of Cheju Island)

  • Dictyostelid cellular slime molds were isolated from soils and harks of the subtropical forest of Torreya nucifera in Cheju island. The results were as follows: Polysphondylium pallidum,Dictyostelium purpureum, D. mucoroides, D. aureo-stipes var. aureo-stipes, D. flavidum, D. miniutum, P.violaceu m, D. monocrhasioides. D. brefeldianum, D. polvcephalum. D. areum var. areum, P. tenuissimum, D. fasciculatum. In this forest, P. pallidum and D. purpureum were occurred dominantly, and D. mucoroides and D. aureo-stipes var, aureo-stipes were the second dominant. It was distinguished that D. purpureum was much more cornmonly found than the other forests. Cellular slime molds from the barks of the tree heights of 1,3 and 5m were occured 7, 3 and 2 species respectively. Torreya fruit extract affected on the growth of D. aureo-stipes var. aureo-stipes and D. flavidum but not on D. purpureum and D. mucoroides.   • Demands for high quality and productivity of precision mechanical parts are increasing greatly nowadays due to the rapid growth of information technologies and convergence industries. Therefore, core technologies for fabrication of precision mechanical parts are the fundamental issues, which are the precision machining, micro powder injection molding technologies, MR polishing, micro polymer processes, micro actuation modules and so on. These technologies are directly related to the mass production of high functional devices and machineries. Therefore, this study investigates the fabrication technologies of micro precision molds for advanced devices for possible commercialization in a near future.
