TDLAS 시스템을 이용한 유해 배기가스의 농도 계측 (The Concentration Measurements of Toxic Exhaust Gas by Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy System)

  • Recent advances in room-temperature, visible and near-IR diode laser sources for telecommunication, optical data storage applications are enabling combustion diagnostics system based on diode laser absorption spectroscopy. In contrast to some traditional sampling-based gas-sensing instruments, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy system is advantageous because of their non-invasive nature, high sensitivity, fast response time and real-time measurement capability. So, combined with fiber-optics and high sensitive detection strategies, compact and portable sensor system arc now appearing for a variety of applications. The objective of this research is to take advantage of distributed feed-back diode laser and measure the $CO_{2}$ concentration (by using direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods). In addition to survey spectra of $CO_{2}$ bands and spectroscopic parameters between 1565 and 1579 run were computed at temperatures between 296 and 1200 K (by using HITRAN 2000 database). It experimentally found out that the features of direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods.

배양 대뇌피질 신경세포에서 glutamate에 의한 $Ca^{2+}$/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV의 활성변화 (Glutamate-induced Modulation of $Ca^{2+}$/Calmodulin-dependent Protein Kinase IV in Cultured Rat Cortical Neurons)

  • The neuronal cell death induced by excess glutamate (Glu) has been implicated in many acute and chronic neurodegenerative diseases including cerebral ischemia. Glu-induced elevation of intra-cellular $Ca^{2+}$ plays a critical role in the excitotoxicity, partly through the activation of a variety of $Ca^{2+}$ dependent enzymes. In the present study, we investigated the Glu-induced modulation of $Ca^{2+}$/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase IV (CaMK IV), a multifunctional enzyme abundantly present in the nuclei of neurons. The exposure of cultured rat cortical neurons to $100{\mu}$M Glu for 3 min dramatically increased CaMK IV activity up to 4.5-fold of the control-treated enzyme activity. The activation was very rapid, reaching peak at 3 min and then declined gradually. Under the same experimental conditions, time-dependent acute and delayed neuronal cell death was observed. Immunoblot analyses using specific antibodies showed that the expressions of CaMK IV and $CaMKK_{\alpha}$ were time-dependently modulated by Glu. Taken together, these results imply that the modulation of CaMK IV activity by Glu may be involved in the cascade of events resulting in neuronal cell death in cortical cultures.

IPFM 모델의 해석을 통한 심박변이도 해석 (Assesment of Heart Rate Variability by Integral Pulse Frequency Modulation Model)

  • This study aims at the new analysis of heart beat fluctuations by applying physiological Heart Rate Variability Model with representing the cardiac control system in sympathetic and parasympathetic-coupling oscillator constants, Cs and Cp. To find the effects of coupling constants on the beat-to-beat fluctuations, Integral Pulse Frequency Modulation (IPFM) model is adopted to generate the time series data of ECG R-peaks and represent them by poincaré scattergram plot in the time domain and HRV in the frequency domain, respectively. The actual poincaré plots and HRV spectrum are also analyzed by acquiring the experimental data from the subjects exposed to the emotional-stress invoking environment and the function of the coupling constants are verified in terms of antagonism in sympathetic and parasympathetic activity.

  • Recently, laser interferometer is widely used as a measuring system in many fields because of its high resolution and its ability to measure a board area in real-time ail at once. In conventional laser interferometer, for examples Out of plane ESPI, In plane ESPI, Shearography and Holography, it uses PZT or other components as a phase shift instrumentation to extract 3-D deformation data, vibration mode and others. However, in most cases PZT has some disadvantages, which include noli-linear errors and limited time of use. In present study, a new type of laser interferometer using a laser diode(LD) is proposed. Using Laser Diode Sinusoidal Phase Modulating(LD-SPM) interferometer, the phase modulation can be directly modulated by controlling the LD injection current thereby eliminating the need for PZT components.

  • 본 논문에서는 2PAM(binary pulse-antipodal modulation) DS(direct-sequence) UWB(ultra-wideband) 시스템을 V-BLAST(vertical bell lab layered space-time) 구조를 사용하는 MIMO(multiple input multiple output) 시스템에 적용하여 실내 무선 채널 환경에서 고속 데이터 전송률을 달성하고자 한다. 이러한 2PAM DS UWB MIMO 시스템의 BER 성능과 송수신 안테나의 차원과의 관계가 논의된다. 또한, UWB-MIMO 시스템의 수신기에서는 ZF(zero-forcing), ZF-OSIC(ordered successive interference cancellation), MMSE(minimum-mean-square-error), MMSE-OSIC, ML(maximum likelihood)과 같은 다양한 MIMO(multiple input multiple output)와 같은 다양한 MIMO 검출기법이 비교, 분석된다.

  • The load frequency control(LFC) of power system is one of important subjects in view of system operation and control. That is, even though the rapid load disturbances are applied to the given power system, the stable and reliable power should be supplied to the users, converging unconditionally and rapidly the frequency deviations and the tie-line power flow ones of each area into allowable boundary limits. Nonetheless of such needs, if the internal parameter perturbation and the sudden load variation are given, the unstable phenomena of power systems can be often brought out because of the large frequency deviation and the unsuppressible power line one. So, an optimal modulation controller for UC of multi-area power system is designed by a recursive algorithm that determines the state weighting matrix Q of a linear quadratic performance criterion. The optimal modulation controller is based on optimal control and can obtain the exact dynamic response of the UC of multi-area power system in the time domain. The performances of the resultant optimal modulation control, that is, the steady-state deviations of frequency and tie-line power flow and the related dynamics, were investigated and analyzed in detail by being applied to the UC of multi-area power system in the perturbations of predetermined internal parameters. Through the simulation results tried variously in this paper for disturbance of stepwise load changes, the superiorities of the proposed optimal modulation controller in robustness and stability were proved.

수동형 OLED를 위한 복합 전류 제어 기능을 갖는 AWM 구동방식 (AWM Driving Method with Hybrid Current Control for PM-OLED Panel)

  • 본 논문은 OLED 패널 소스 구동회로에서 구동 전류의 크기와 폭을 조절하는 새로운 amplitude width modulation(AWM) 방식을 제안하였다. 기존의 소스 구동회로에서 pulse amplitude modulation(PAM) 방식은 DAC 회로 추가로 인해 크기가 커진다는 단점이 있고, pulse width modulation(PWM) 방식은 낮은 그레이 신호 레벨에서 발광 효율이 나쁜 단점이 있다. 이와 같은 단점을 개선하기 위해 본 논문에는 색상 데이터 비트의 MSB를 이용하여 구동 전류의 레벨을 제어하고, 데이터 비트의 LSB를 이용하여 구동 전류의 폭을 조정하는 구동방식을 제안하였다. 제안된 구동 방식은 $0.35-{\mu}m$ 3-poly 4-metal CMOS high voltage 공정을 사용하여 구현하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 제안된 AWM 구동 회로가 PAM 방식에 비해 회로 크기를 줄였고 신호 레벨이 낮은 영역에서 PAM과 거의 동일한 발광 효율을 얻었다.

Phonon bottleneck effects of InAs quantum dots

  • We have studied the carrier relaxation of InAs/GaAs modulation-doped quantum dots depending on the excitation wavelength and modulation-doping concentration by using the time-ressolved spectroscopy. At the excitation below GaAs barrier band gap, the relaxation processes become very slow, implying to observe the phonon bottleneck effects. On the other hand, at the excitation far above GaAs band gap, phonon bottleneck effects are broken down due to Auger processes. Increasing modulation-doping concentration, the relaxation times, by virtue of Coulomb scattering between electrons in GaAs doped layer and carriers in InAs quantum dots, are observed to become fast.

  • A new pulse width modulation method based on predictive current control strategy is proposed to modulate matrix converters. The predictive current controller utilizes a discrete-time model to predict the future values of output currents and generates proper duty-ratios ta minimize the output current errors. The proposed method uses continuous carrier and establishes a predictive current controller to predetermine duty ratio signal for directly generating gating signals an thus is named "predictive current control PWM(PCCPWM)". The modulation algorithm nd the required equations are derived by using average concept over one switching period. Thus it can be easily extended to other matrix converter topologies, especially with neutral connections, such as sing le-phase ad two-phase matrix converters. The feasibility and validity of the proposed strategy are verified by computer simulation and experimental results.

주파수 영역 등화기를 사용하는 단일 반송파 전송 시스템을 위한 저 전력 전송 기법 (Low Power Transmission Technique for Single-Carrier Modulation with Frequency Domain Equalization)

  • This paper proposes a low power transmission technique for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization. As time domain signals and frequency domain signals have unique corresponding functions, inserting zeros after each symbol causes a repetition in other domain, so maximal ratio combining technique using repetitive transmission can be applied in the frequency domain. In this paper, we configure transmit signals to insert zeros after each symbols for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization and maximal ratio receive combining block in the receiver structures, propose a structure for transmitter and receiver and show that its performance is better than the traditional algorithm by simulations.
