In this paper, we propose a biomimetic communication method using a dolphin whistle to covertly transmit the communication signal. A conventional CSS (Chirp Spread Spectrum) modulation technique divides dolphin whistle into several slots and modulates with up and down chirp signals. That causes the time-frequency characteristic difference between the original dolphin whistle and the camouflage performance is degraded. In this paper, we propose a delay based modulation scheme to eliminate distortions. The simulation results show that the bit error rate of the proposed method is better performance than that of the conventional CSS modulation method by about 3.5 dB to 8 dB. And the camouflage performance that evaluated through the cross correlation in the time-frequency domain is also better than that of the CSS modulation method.

This paper proposes multiple access method for smart doorlock system using VLC(Visible Light Communication) with color grid modulation method. The proposed method is to connect multiple visible light signals using color grid modulation method in order to recognize and authenticate multiple users accessing doorlock. In order to enable visible light multiple access with existing infrastructure, the symbol energy interval of signal should be maximized. Thus, performance of system in VLC channel is measured by modulating symbols based on the proposed method. We confirm the actual channel test results of the modulated signal to implement doorlock system that recognizes the number of multiple access users.
Sonobuoy is a disposable device that collects underwater acoustic information and is designed to transmit signals collected in a particular area to nearby aircraft or ships and sink to the seabed upon completion of its mission. In a conventional sonobouy signal transmission and reception system, collected signals are modulated and transmitted using techniques such as frequency division modulation or Gaussian frequency shift keying, and received and demodulated by an aircraft or a ship. However, this method has the disadvantage of the large amount of information to be transmitted and low security due to relatively simple modulation and demodulation methods. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method that uses an autoencoder to encode a transmission signal into a low-dimensional latent vector to transmit the latent vector to an aircraft or ship and decode the received latent vector to improve signal security and to reduce the amount of transmission information by approximately a factor of a hundred compared to the conventional method. As a result of confirming the sample spectrogram reconstructed by the proposed method through simulation, it was confirmed that the original signal could be restored from a low-dimensional latent vector.
This article presents a novel cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) scheme. The primary transmitter transmits a complex Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signal in the first phase, and CSS occurs in the second phase. The secondary transmitter with the largest forwarding channel gain among the nodes that successfully decode the primary signal in the first phase is selected for CSS. This selected node employs a pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) signal for primary information message (IM) instead of the QAM signal, and it employs a modified PAM signal for the secondary IM. The proposed modified PAM signal depends on the amplitude of the primary PAM signal. This method results in no mutual interference and negligible primary interference constraint and allows a higher degree of exploitation of spatial diversity, thus enabling increase in secondary power to improve primary transmission. The outage performance is enhanced in both the primary and secondary systems. The critical region, in which the primary outage performance is enhanced with the proposed CSS scheme, can be adjusted and widened by varying either the modulation cooperation sharing factor or the number of secondary transmitters.
As a generalized form of the conventional Fourier transform, fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) can analyze a signal at intermediate domain between time and frequency domains with a transform order ${\alpha}$. Especially, FrFT has a number of advantages in the analysis of LFM (Linear Frequency Modulation) signals due to its robustness to noise. In this paper, we have proposed a new method to detect and estimate the distance of the target from the FrFT spectrum of the received echo signal. Experimental results have validated the proposed method, and shown that reliable target distance could be estimated in noise and reverberation environments.

This paper introduces M-PPAM(M-ary Pulse Position and Amplitude Modulation) architecture, combined PPM(Pulse Position Modulation) with PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation). Since M-PPAM can transmit several bits using one pulse, it is mon effective than PPM or PAM. Also, to obtain the same data transmission rate with PPM or PAM, M-PPAM can use a long pulse repetition period. This method will be able to use in the multi-path fading environment such as indoor condition. To accomodate multiple users, direct sequence technique is used. This paper has provided the modeling method of the M-PPAM DS-UWB receiver covering multi-user interference(MUI) with the Standard Gaussian Approximation under Gaussian channel. The performance of the receiver is simulated.
Resonant converters are well suited for induction heating (IH) applications due to their advantages such as efficiency and power density. The control systems of these appliances should provide smooth and wide power control with fewer losses. In this paper, a simple phase locked loop (PLL) based variable duty cycle (VDC) pulse density modulation (PDM) power control scheme for use in class-D inverters for IH loads is proposed. This VDC PDM control method provides a wide power control range. This control scheme also achieves stable and efficient Zero-Voltage-Switching (ZVS) operation over a wide load range. Analysis and modeling of an IH load is done to perform a time domain simulation. The design and output power analysis of a class-D inverter are done for both the conventional pulse width modulation (PWM) and the proposed PLL based VDC PDM methods. The control principles of the proposed method are described in detail. The validity of the proposed control scheme is verified through MATLAB simulations. The PLL loop maintains operation closer to the resonant frequency irrespective of variations in the load parameters. The proposed control scheme provides a linear output power variation to simplify the control logic. A prototype of the class-D inverter system is implemented to validate the simulation results.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Electromyography (EMG) of the upper limb during reaching tasks according to two heights in the sitting position. Design: Cross sectional design Methods: Fifteen hemiplegia, fifteen elderly, and fifteen healthy subjects have participated in this study. The targets (90% length of the subject's arm) were located at the two heights (the eye and xiphoid process). We have recorded EMG signals of seven upper limb muscles (anterior deltoid (AD), posterior deltoid (PD), pectoralis major (Pec), infraspinatus (Inf), supraspinatus (Sup), biceps brachii (Bi), triceps brachii (Tri)). The dependent variables were movement time(s), modulation ratio, working ratio, and the co-contraction ratio of the hemiplegia, elderly, and healthy at the reaching task. Two-way repeated-measures ANOVA (2-heights) was analyzed with the LSD post hoc test. Results: The study results were as follows: (1) The movement time to the target during reaching movement was significantly longer for the hemiplegia and elderly groups compared to the healthy group. (2) The modulation rate was significantly higher at eye height than the xiphoid height in AD, PD, Pec, Inf, Bi muscles, and the hemiplegia group and elderly group were significantly lower than the healthy group. Additionally, the modulation ratio showed a significant interaction between heights and groups. Conclusions: It is expected that the variables using the muscle contraction characteristics, the evaluation method of this study, can be used as an electromyography-based feedback method that can be objectively evaluated and quantified in clinical practice.

The CCFL dimming control methods are generally used lamp current regulation or average current adjustment method feeding the CCFL inverter. Inverter operation frequency is higher than resonant frequency for safe operation. In this study, we design the half-bridge type series and parallel resonant converter circuit that switches at variable frequency modulation methods to control the output power. This method has advantages such as low EMI and reduced harmonics, and it is convenient for dimming control using a microprocessor. The validity of this study is confirmed from the simulation and experimental results.
This paper proposes a Chaos Pulse Width Modulation(CPWM) technique. For generating the chaotic numbers by chaos phenomenon, chaos area $\lambda$=0.99 in bifurcation tree of the proposed double tent mapping is used. A micro-controller is used for the generation of chaos numbers and triangular carrier with chaotic frequency is obtained through the process of frequency modulation according to the generated chaos numbers. The experiments are executed with the 1.5kw induction motor coupled with a 2.5A load. The experimental results show that the voltage / current spectra are spread to a chaotic range, and the switching noise of motor is reduced by the proposed method compared to the fixed frequency PWM method.
