Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are attracting wide attention due to their outstanding performance, extensive studies have been carried out for lead-based fast reactors (LFRs) that cooled with Lead or Lead-bismuth (LBE), and small modular natural circulation LFR is one of the promising candidates for SMRs and LFRs development. One of the challenges for the design small modular natural circulation LFR is to master the natural circulation thermal-hydraulic performance in the reactor primary circuit, while the natural circulation characteristics is a coupled thermal-hydraulic problem of the core thermal power, the primary loop layout and the operating state of secondary cooling system etc. Thus, accurate predicting the natural circulation LFRs thermal-hydraulic features are highly required for conducting reactor operating condition evaluate and Thermal hydraulic design optimization. In this study, a thermal-hydraulic analysis code is developed for small modular natural circulation LFRs, which is based on several mathematical models for natural circulation originally. A small modular natural circulation LBE cooled fast reactor named URANUS developed by Korea is chosen to assess the code's capability. Comparisons are performed to demonstrate the accuracy of the code by the calculation results of MARS, and the key thermal-hydraulic parameters agree fairly well with the MARS ones. As a typical application case, steady-state analyses were conducted to have an assessment of thermal-hydraulic behavior under nominal condition, and several parameters affecting natural circulation were evaluated. What's more, two characteristics parameters that used to analyze natural circulation LFRs natural circulation capacity were established. The analyses show that the core thermal power, thermal center difference and flow resistance is the main factors affecting the reactor natural circulation. Improving the core thermal power, increasing the thermal center difference and decreasing the flow resistance can significantly increase the reactor mass flow rate. Characteristics parameters can be used to quickly evaluate the natural circulation capacity of natural circulation LFR under normal operating conditions.

This paper describes a method to design a lightweight modular bridge for a railway infrastructure system. A lightweight design was achieved using the material selection method. Aluminum extrusions and honeycomb sandwich composites were selected as the best materials to reduce the weight of the upper structure of a conventional modular bridge made of carbon-steel material. The structural integrity of the lightweight modular bridge was evaluated under vertical and wind loads. The twisting and bending natural frequencies were also evaluated to investigate its dynamic characteristics. The results showed that the structural integrity and natural frequencies of the lightweight modular bridge, made of aluminum extrusion and sandwich composites, satisfied the design requirements. Moreover, it was found that the weight of the conventional modular bridge made of carbon steel could be reduced by a maximum of 47% using lightweight materials.

Modular multiplication is a key operation for point scalar multiplication of ECC, and is the most important factor affecting the performance of ECC processor. This paper describes a design of a 256-bit modular multiplier that adopts 3-way Toom-Cook multiplication algorithm and modified fast reduction algorithm. One 90-bit multiplier and three 264-bit adders were used to optimize the hardware size and the number of clock cycles required. The modular multiplier was verified by implementing it using Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC device and the modular multiplication operation takes 15 clock cycles.

In his notebooks, Srinivasa Ramanujan recorded several modular equations that are useful in the computation of class invariants, continued fractions and the values of theta functions. In this paper, we prove some new modular equations of signature 2 by well-known and useful theta function identities of composite degrees. Further, as an application of this, we evaluate theta function identities.
Employing knowledge of adaptive possibilities of agents in multi-agents system, we have explored new aspects of distributed modular systems for building ubiquitous heterogeneous robotic systems using intelligent building blocks (I-BLOCKS) [1] as reconfigurable modules. This paper describes early technological approaches related to technical design, experimental developments and evaluation of adaptive processing and information interaction among I-BLOCKS allowing users to easily develop modular robotic systems. The processing technology presented in this paper is embedded inside each $DUPLO^1$ brick by microprocessor as well as selected sensors and actuators in addition. Behaviors of an I-BLOCKS modular structure are defined by the internal processing functionality of each I-Block in such structure and communication capacities between I-BLOCKS. Users of the I-BLOCKS system can easily do 'programming by building' and thereby create specific functionalities of a modular robotic structure of intelligent artefacts without the need to learn and use traditional programming language. From investigating different effects of modern artificial intelligence, I-BLOCKS we have developed might possibly contain potential possibilities for developing modular robotic system with different types of morphology, functionality and behavior. To assess these potential I-BLOCKS possibilities, the paper presents a limited range of different experimental scenarios in which I-BLOCKS have been used to set-up reconfigurable modular robots. The paper also reports briefly about earlier experiments of I-BLOCKS created on users' natural inspiration by a just defined concept of modular artefacts.
The modular technology has been already applied in automotive industry, plant and shipbuilding industry. Recently, the modular technology was applied in bridge construction. The modular bridge is different from the existing precast bridges in terms of standardized design that the detailed design of members is omitted by using the standard modules; the design of the modular bridge is completed by only assembling the standard modules without design in member level. The girder-type precast modular bridge has been developed as a simply supported bridge. The girder-type precast modular bridge could be applied to the multi-span bridges through the continuity method. The continuity of the girder-type precast modular bridge is achieved by using the link slab which is easy to construction and appropriate to the rapid construction. The link slabs have been used as the type of reinforced concrete structure in US from the 1950's. In 2000's, the link slab using the engineered cementitious concrete (ECC link slab) has been developed. In this study, the RC type link slab which is more reproducible and economic relative to the ECC link slab was used for the continuity of the girder-type precast modular bridges, and the construction detail of RC type link slab was modified. In addition, the modified iterative design method of RC type link slab was proposed in this study. To verify the proposed design method, the flexural tests were conducted using the RC type link slab specimens. Also, the fatigue test using the mock-up specimen was conducted with cyclic loading condition up to two million cycles.

Modular technology has become a major issue of the construction industries to enhance their productivity. Modular bridge construction generally requires the collaboration between the contractor, designer, fabricator and constructor. Therefore, a readily accessible information model based on BIM technology should be provided for their communication during a construction project life-cycle. In this study, BIM based 3D information modeling was carried out for the modular bridge pier. First, the product breakdown structure (PBS) and level of detail (LOD) of the pier were defined. Based on them, 3D models were created by using parametric modeling method. In addition, database was constructed for the exchange of geometry and property data of 3D models. Finally, application areas of 3D information model were suggested, including the quantity estimation and the 4D simulation.
In this paper, we propose a bit-sliced modular multiplication algorithm and a bit-sliced modular multiplier design meeting the increasing crypto-key size for RSA public key cryptosystem. The proposed bit-sliced modular multiplication algorithm was designed by modifying the Walter's algorithm. The bit-sliced modular multiplier is easy to expand to process large size operands, and can be immediately applied to RSA public key cryptosystem.
Since the modular curve $X(4)=\Gamma(4)/{\mathfrak{}}^*$ has genus 0, we have a field isomorphism K(X(4)){\approx}\mathcal{C}(j_{4})$ where $j_{4}(z)={\theta}_{3}(\frac{z}{2})/{\theta}_{4}(\frac{z}{2})$ is a quotient of Jacobi theta series ([9]). We derive recursion formulas for the Fourier coefficients of $j_4$ and $N(j_{4})$ (=the normalized generator), respectively. And we apply these modular functions to Thompson series and the construction of class fields.
