This study intends to gather terminology as a first step for encyclopedia of furniture from four areas such as traditional Korean furniture and architecture, modern and contemporary furniture, wood science, and wood culture by each expert. Since China, Japan, America, and European countries have chronologically influenced domestic furniture culture, the furniture terms are currently used by mixed languages such as Chinese characters, Japanese, English, Russian, Korean, etc., in the furniture fields and education. Domestic furniture companies and schools have had lots of difficulties in carrying out works due to the furniture terms not unified. This paper carried out through domestic furniture fields, internet, and furniture books from the inside and outside of the country, including the references of architecture, interior, crafts, and wood science and culture in order to research the terminology, results in the confusing language use of furniture terms at the furniture companies, schools for furniture education, and wood workshops having their own furniture terms. Therefore, for unified and standard furniture terminology, the terms gathered must be reviewed and conformed through the committee composed with the relevant experts so that it will be able to help the relevant business and education carry out their work better.

The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of Le Corbusier's works focused on Maison Guiette. This House was completed in 1926, 4 year later than the work of the Citrohan and also, this house is the only remaining mixed use Dwelling in Belgium. It offers a fine example of the early architectural concepts of Le Corbusier's. Despite these important facts, the meanings of the ideas of this house have not been paid attention as much as other houses constructed at the same period, such as Maison La Roche, Maison Stein de Monzie, Villa Savoye, etc. In his book, 'Oeuvre Complete 1910-1929', Le Corbusier mentioned as follows: "A special solution imposed by Belgian housing developments characterized by a dimension of 6 meters of frontage and a very great depth. The staircase serving the various floors is like the ladder of Jacob climbs Charlie Chaplin in the "Kid" and This house is an architectural experiments of his ideas. And this study aims at analysing the relationship between Maison Guiette and spaces on the basic of Le Corbusier's 'Five Points of a New Architecture' which had a great effects on architectural history and became a fundamental elements for the change into the Modern housing. By analysing the points in regard with the Features of Architectural Concept Applied in Maison Guiette, The Five Points are the background of the interpenetration of the interior and the exterior. To attain this, this research appraises each points in detail in regards with Maison Guiette. The study of Maison Guiette will be an important architectural subject to clarify the meaning of his later works and ideas.

The purpose of this study is to propose and analyse new technology of structural elements design for Korean-style house(Hanok). Design of modern apartment building adopts many aesthetic elements from Hanok, however, these are only for the decorations of interior. In this study, projected Hanok eaves were studied in terms of the length of solar insolation. Inclined front slab system has been proposed utilizing sloping roof to an apartment building section. This system can provide the same sunshine radiation length and outside view to all levels of building to overcome the limitation of traditional hanok. It also can be applied to all residences the vertical garden concept of hanok. Inclined slab system showed 20% more efficient than flat slab system in terms of solar insolation length. This study also suggested a double deck slab system for not only reducing apartment floor impact noise but also connecting concept of traditional maru system in hanok. Double deck system reduces 66% of floor impact noise comparing with single deck slab of modern apartment buildings.

This study aimed to find the architectural meaning and characteristics of L'Art Sacr? Movement advocated by Dominican Father Marie Alain Couturie. From 1936 till 1954 Father Couturier was the chief editor of the review L'Art Sacr? that became very influential among art critics no longer satisfied with what was considered outdated 19th century church interior decoration. Marie Alain Couturie was a French Dominican friar and Catholic priest who gained fame as a designer of stained glass windows. He was noted for his modern inspiration in the field of Sacred Art. Couturier's greatest ambition was to revive Christian art by appealing to the independent masters of his time. From these viewpoint, we investigated the background and process of the movement and analyzed the architectural meaning and characteristics which represented the Art Sacr? movement. The analyzed chapel buildings were as follows: 1) The Church of Notre-Dame de Toute Gr?ce du Plateau d'Assy, bringing together Braque, Matisse, Rouault, L?ger and Chagall, 2) The Chapel of Saint-Marie Rosaire by Henri Matisse, 3) The Chapel of Notre Dame du Haut and The Couvent de La Tourette by Le Corbusier, and 4) The Rothko Chapel by Mark Rothko and Philip Johnson. These L'Art Sacr? projects inscribedthemselveswithin what was the century's most serious attempt at the reintegration of Art and religious space. Courturier's interactions with artists and architects are traced and shown to have played a major role in the evolution of the priest's thinking and Church interior decoration. At the same time, Courturier's clear and vigorous L'Art Sacr? articles were both defining the theoretical basis of new vision and anticipating the renewal of the religious space.
'Alley' is the community space as the fundamental living space for local residents and also it's the space which characterize the local community. Research is needed to rediscover the value of alleys which are disappearing due to urban planning. This research focuses on Seochon (current Saejong village) alleys and classify the types of alleys where residential density is seen. Further, this research aims the analysis of dwellings which use the alleys and the characteristics of the layout of alleys. Followings are the research results; 1) Major classifications are 'through alleys' and 'dead end alleys' and there is higher ratio for dead end alleys. 2) Majority of Seochon alleys have the width of more than 1.5 m and less than 3.6 m. 3) There are four types of alleys and straight alleys are most common. 4) Various type of alleys can be found where the width is wider. 5) In case of dead end alleys, there is a tendency of both sides layout rather than one side layout of dwellings. 6) Clusters of hanok can be found at Chebu-dong, Tongin-dong, Nuha-dong and Tongui-dong whereas modern dwellings and villas are more common in Nusang-dong and Ogin-dong. This research analyzes the current status of Seochon alleys and rediscover the value of alleys. This research also provides and presents the basic data materials for continuous sustainable method to keep alleys which characterize the local area.

Building energy demands have highly risen in modern society; thus, It is necessary to reduce building energy demands especially commercial buildings adopting a curtain wall architecture. Curtain wall architectures have a high ratio of windows which is a vulnerable in heat insulations as cladding. In order to complement insulation performance of windows in these buildings, there are various methods adopted often such as installing blinds, wing wall and films. There are two suggestions of this paper. 1) WWR (Window-to-Wall Ratio) makes a impaction of energy demands in buildings. 2) Another one is an efficiency of blind systems which are installed in buildings in order to reduce cooling demands. It is also critical to make fundamental model for low-energy building construction by processing a lot of simulation As a result by this study, 1) an external blind system is more useful for reducing cooling energy demands rather than an internal blind system. 2) Buildings which have a large window require more amount of cooling demands. In case of WWR 45%, it needs more cooling energy rather than WWR 15% model's 3) Adopting blind system would reduce energy demands. WWR 45% model with external blind systems reduces about 4% of cooling energy demands compared to same model without any blind systems.4) it is necessary to study an efficiency of blind systems combined with renewable energy and it will be possible to reduce more energy demand in building significantly.
The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of spatial expression in the works of Terunobu Fujimori, Japan's leading eco-friendly architect, in line with the contemporary background on environmental issues. As a method of research, we will select five representative multi-room spaces from the 1990s to the present and explore the characteristics of expression in the space through literature research. As a result of the analysis, we were actively using the strategy of using natural materials to finish the space and introduce plants into the building. Japan's strategy of borrowing traditional methods was to use them as a way of expressing space, a way of expressing fantasy and deviance. We expect that the demands of modern people seeking novelty in this era and the eco-friendly building plan of feasible alternatives can be presented as another methodology for spatial design.

The environment refers to what is surrounded by something during human life. This environment is related to the way humans live, and presents various problems on how to perceive the surrounding environment and how the behaviors that constitute the environment support the elements necessary for human life. Humans have an interest in the supportability of the environment as the interrelationship increases as humans perceive and understand the environment and accept the factors supported by the environment. In space, human movement starts from one space to the next and exchanges stimuli and reactions with the environment until reaching a target point. These human movements start with subjective judgment and during gait movement, the spatial environment surrounding humans becomes a collection of information necessary for humans and gives stimulation. will do. In this process, in particular, humans move along the movement path through movement in space and go through displacement perception and psychological changes, and recognize a series of spatial continuity. An image of thinking is formed[1]. In this process, spatial experience is perceived through the process of filtering by the senses in the real space, and the result of cognition is added through the process of subjective change accompanied by memory and knowledge, resulting in human movement. As such, the spatial search behavior begins with a series of perceptual and cognitive behaviors that arise in the process of human beings trying to read meaning from objects in the environment. Here, cognition includes the psychological process of sorting out and judging what the information is in the process of reading the meaning of the external environment, conditions, and material composition, and perception is the process of accepting information as the first step. It can be said to be the cognitive ability to read the meaning of the environment given to humans. Therefore, if we can grasp the perception of space while moving and human behavior as a response to perception, it will be possible to predict how to grasp it from a human point of view in a space that does not exist. Modern people have the theme of reminiscing dog-friendly hotels for the healing of petloss syndrome, and this thesis attempts to approach the life of companions.

Modern society needs constantly the rationality and the efficiency, and this flow of the time has become the paradigm of the whole society. This paradigm has a large influence on the architectural design and industry. Modern technology represented by the development of digital instrument and Information Technology through internet has created and developed two big trend, Parametric Design and BIM(Building information Modeling) in the architectural design and industry. These technologies, though created for different reasons, have a lot of influence on the architectural design and industry for a common purpose such as efficiency and rationality across the boundaries. In this context, this research will be embodied through the example about how parametric design should be made in the beginning of pre-design phase for BIM application. This research aims to consider the design process of Walt Diseny Consert Hall, the work of Frank O. Ghery, a deconstructivism architect, and to embody the shape of National Nederlanden Building in Prague, the Czech Republic, using parametric design tool in pre-design phase. This research later aims to be used as the basic data that can be applied to the entire architectural industry from a planning and a detailed design to a construction for the ultimate BIM application beyond the range of parametric design in pre-design phase. Later, the plan using the parametric design algorithm and BIM application in construction document phase will be conducted.
Recently, the proportion of single-person households is on the increase in Korea, expected to reach 34.6% in 2035. Among the single-person households, Young single family households are facing greater difficulties due to high house prices in Korea. The government is expanding its support to Young single family, executing various policies such as public lease housings, private lease housings for youth, youth dormitory, etc. The purpose of this study is to understand the exact housing requirement of Young single family households who have different lifestyles with other age groups and provide base line data for youth house planning which will be in use later on. Study methods are shown below. First, this research studied the status and characteristics of Young single family households by looking into literature. Second, by studying previous studies concerned with life style and housing preferences of youth, the tool for investigating preferences and needs of housing environment by Young single family households was composed. Third, survey on characterstics of space usage, preferences and needs on flat composition, and preferences of interior design were conducted based on lifestyle of Young single family-households. The survey was conducted as an online survey using SNS for 150 Young single family holds from the age of 20 and 39, including students and office workers from December 2018 to January 2019. The results are as following. (1) Looking into the space usage characteristics, considering that various activities other than basic functions take place in bedroom and living room of small-sized Young single family households, we need to consider this additionally when planning the housing. (2) Looking into the preferences and composite needs of flat composition, the subjects demand separate bed room and more living room space, and also demand expansion of living room space where various activities take place and additional storage such as dress room in bed room (3) The preferences toward interior design show preferences toward modern style and achromatic color, a representative color. The subjects also prefer floor finishing materials normally used for living spaces, and indirect, soft lighting that uses wall. Also, there are differences between interior design preferences between students (20's) and office workers(30's) due to their different lifestyles. Research is needed to propose practical residential environment requirements and plans through a case study of actual public rental housing and a wider range of users.
