This paper proposes the aggregated modeling and control of integated boost-flyback converter (IBFC) for understanding of dynamics characteristic and designing of relevant controller. The basic concept of the aggregated modeling is to substitute the boost or the flyback converter with an equivalent current source. Since each converter with equivalent current source corresponds to the basic boost and flyback converters, the overall mathematical process is significantly simplified for the modeling. Afterwards each result is combined to construct the complete model of the IBFC, and the relevant controller is designed through the achieved small-signal model. Simulation and experimental results show excellent agreement with the theoretical expectations.
In the product design process computer-aided engineering and optimization tolls are widely utilized in order to reduce the total development time and cost. Since several simulation tools are involved in the process, information losses, omissions, or errors are common and the importance of seamless information exchange among the tools has been increased. In this work, ISO STEP standards are adopted to represent the neutral format for structural analysis and optimization. The schema of AP209 defined the information of finite element analysis is used and the new schema is proposed to describe the information of structural optimization based on the STEP methodology. The schema is implemented by EXPRESS, information modeling language, and ST-Developer is employed to generate C++ classes and STEP Rose Library by using the schema denoted. To substantiate the proposed approach, the information access interfaces of the finite element modeling software (FEMAP), structural optimization software(GENESIS) and in-house topology optimization program are developed. Examples are shown to validate the information exchange of finite element analysis and structural optimization using STEP standards.

Ship STEP(Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data) which is composed of AP 215 (Ship Arrangement), AP 216(Ship Hull Form), AP 218 (Ship Structure), has been developed more than last 10 years and it is now at the stage just before IS(International Standard). It is expected that ship STEP would be used for the seamless data exchange among various CAD/CAM/CAE systems of shipbuilding process. In this paper the huge and complicated data structure of ship STEP is briefly reviewed at the level of ARM(Application Reference Model) and some abstract test cases which will be included as part of the standards are introduced. Basically ship STEP has common data model to be used without losing compatibility among those three different ship AP's, and it is defined as the modeling framework. Typical cases of data exchange during shipbuilding process, such as hull form data exchange between design office and model basin, midship structure data between shipbuilding yard and classification society are reviewed and STEP physical data are generated using commercial geometric modeling kernel. Test cases of ship arrangement at initial design stage and hydrodynamic data of crude oil carrier are also included.

The numerical analysis of groundwater flow is indispensable for predicting problems associated with water resource development, civil works, environmental hazards, and nuclear power plant construction. Korea lacks public regulatory procedures and guidelines for groundwater flow modeling, especially in nuclear facility sites, which makes adequate evaluation difficult. Feasible step-by-step guidelines are also unavailable. Consequently, reports on groundwater flow modeling have low-grade quality and often present controversial opinions. Additionally, without public guidelines, maintaining consistency in reviewing reports and enforcing laws is more challenging. In this study, the guidelines for groundwater flow modeling were reviewed for three countries - the United States (Documenting Groundwater Modeling at Sites Contaminated with Radioactive Substances), Canada (Guidelines for Groundwater Modelling to Assess Impacts of Proposed Natural Resource Development Activities), and Australia (Australian Groundwater Modelling Guidelines), with the aim of developing groundwater flow modeling regulatory guidelines that can be applied to nuclear facilities in Korea, in accordance with the Groundwater Act, Environmental Impact Assessment Act, and the Nuclear Safety Act.
This paper presents an advanced approach to simulate AC electric railway system in steady-state. The algorithm consists of two parts. One is circuit modeling of elements of electric railway system, the other is an analysis on electric circuit. The modeling procedure has two steps, in the first step, proposed is the modeling method which is considered to be an internal impedance of the autotransformers and mutual impedances between the feeding systems. For the load(locomotives) modeling which is the second step, improved results are obtained as application to the proposed constant power model compared with constant impedance model. In the analysis on electric circuit, a generalized analysis method using the loop equation has been proposed and there is no limit in the number of trains between the ATs. In addition, the computer simulation by the proposed model was practiced. Simulation result seems very reasonable. It is therefore concluded that techniques for the electric circuit modeling and analysis have been established. Accuracy of the techniques will be further investigated.
In this paper, a method for recognizing 3-D objects using the 3-D Hough transform and the robust stereo vision is studied. A 3-D object is recognized through two steps; modeling step and matching step. In modeling step, features of the object are extracted by analyzing the IGES file. In matching step, the values of the sensed image are compared with those of the IGES file which is assumed to location and orientation in the 3-D Hough transform domain. Since we use the 3-D Hough transform domain of the input image directly, the sensitivity to the noise and the high computational complexity could be significantly allcv~ated. Also, the cost efficiency is improved using the robust stereo vision for obtaining depth map image which is needed for 3-D Hough transform. In order lo verify the proposed method, real telephone model is recognized. Thc results of the location and orientation of the model are presented.
Most commercial CAD systems provide parametric modeling functions, and by using these capabilities designers can edit a CAD model in order to create design variants. It is necessary to transfer parametric information during a CAD model exchange to modify the model inside the receiving system. However, it is not possible to exchange parametric information of CAD models based on the cur-rent version of STEP. The designer intents which are contained in the parametric information can be lost during the STEP transfer of CAD models. This paper introduces a hybrid CAB model translator, which also uses the feature tree of commercial CAD systems in addition to the macro file to allow transfer of parametric information. The macro-parametric approach is to exchange CAD models by using the macro file, which contains the history of user commands. To exchange CAD models using the macro-parametric approach, the modeling commands of several commercial CAD systems are analyzed. Those commands are classified and a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. As a neutral fie format, a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. Mapping relations between the standard modeling commands set and the native modeling commands set of commercial CAD systems are defined. The scope of the current version is limited to parts modeling and assemblies are excluded.
