We investigate the test for model adequacy in nonlinear regression. We can expect the usual likelihood ratio statistic to be unaffected by any parametric- effect curvature; only the effect of intrinsic curvature needs to be considered. Multiplicative correction factor is derived for the limiting distribution of test statistic, which is a function of the intrinsic curvature arrays.

Machine Learning(ML) splits data into 3 parts, which are usually 60% for training, 20% for validation, and 20% for testing. It just splits quantitatively instead of selecting each set of data by a criterion, which is very important concept for the adequacy of test data. ML measures a model's accuracy by applying a set of validation data, and revises the model until the validation accuracy reaches on a certain level. After the validation process, the complete model is tested with the set of test data, which are not seen by the model yet. If the set of test data covers the model's attributes well, the test accuracy will be close to the validation accuracy of the model. To make sure that ML's set of test data works adequately, we design an experiment and see if the test accuracy of model is always close to its validation adequacy as expected. The experiment builds 100 different SVM models for each of six data sets published in UCI ML repository. From the test accuracy and its validation accuracy of 600 cases, we find some unexpected cases, where the test accuracy is very different from its validation accuracy. Consequently, it is not always true that ML's set of test data is adequate to assure a model's quality.
This paper reviews the categories and properties of risk measures, analyzes the classes and structural equations of volatility forecasting models, and presents the practical methodologies and their expansion methods of estimating and forecasting the volatilities of exchange rates using Excel spreadsheet modeling. We apply the GARCH(1,1) model to the Korean won(KRW) denominated daily and monthly exchange rates of USD, JPY, EUR, GBP, CAD and CNY during the periods from January 4, 1998 to December 31, 2009, make the estimates of long-run variances in the returns of exchange rate calculated as the step-by-step change rate, and test the adequacy of estimated GARCH(1,1) model using the Box-Pierce-Ljung statistics Q and chi-square test-statistics. We demonstrate the adequacy of GARCH(1,1) model in estimating and forecasting the volatility of exchange rates in the monthly series except the semi-variance GARCH(1,1) applied to KRW/JPY100 rate. But we reject the adequacy of GARCH(1,1) model in estimating and forecasting the volatility of exchange rates in the daily series because of the very high Box-Pierce-Ljung statistics in the respective time lags resulting to the self-autocorrelation. In conclusion, the GARCH(1,1) model provides for the easy and helpful tools to forecast the exchange rate volatilities and may become the powerful methodology to overcome the application difficulties with the spreadsheet modeling.

Appropriate amount of water supply to paddy fields in proper time is important to achieve efficient agricultural water management. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the irrigation water supply adequacy for paddy fields using water level data in irrigation canals. For the evaluation, the real-time water level data were collected from main canals in the Dongjin irrigation district for 2 years. Using the water level data, delivered irrigation water amounts at the distribution points of each canal were calculated. The water balance model for paddy field was designed considering intermittent irrigation and the irrigation water requirement was estimated. Irrigation water supply adequacy was analyzed from main canals to the irrigation blocks based on the comparison between estimated requirement and delivered irrigation water amounts. From the adequacy analysis, irrigation water supply showed poor management condition in 2012 with low efficiency except the Daepyong canal section, and the adequacy in 2013 was good or fair except the Yongsung canal section. When irrigation water for paddy fields was insufficient, water supply adequacy was affected by irrigation area, but when irrigation water was enough to supply, adequacy was affected by distance from main canal to distribution points. These results of the spatial and temporal dimensions of the irrigation adequacy could be utilized for efficient irrigation water management to improve the temporal uniformity and equity in the water distribution for paddy fields.

This paper presents the wind-power model for generation adequacy assessment. Both wind-power and system load depend on time of a year and show their periodic nature with similar periods. Therefore, the two quantities have some probabilistic relations, and if one of them is given, the other can be decided with some probability. In this paper, the two quantities are quantized by k-means clustering algorithm and related probabilities among the cluster centers are calculated using sequential wind-power and system load data. The proposed model is highly expected to be applied for generation adequacy assessment by Monte-Carlo simulation with state sampling method.

Graphical paradigms for assessing the adequacy of models in logistic regression are discussed. The residual plot has been widely used as a graphical tool for evaluating the adequacy of the model. However, this approach works well only for linear models with constant variance, and the alternative approach, the marginal model plot, has its defects as well. We suggest a Chi-residual plot that overcomes the potential shortcomings of the marginal model plot.

This study investigates the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on the performance of Saudi banks. In the first part, the study includes a brief introduction focused on the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on the performance of banks. In the second part, a literature review examined various studies on the impact of capital adequacy and operating efficiency on banks' performance. The study methodology was presented in the third part, based on a sample that included all local Saudi banks from 2010 to 2021, using a study model to answer the study hypotheses. The results of the panel data regression indicated that CAR had a negative and significant effect on ROA and ROE but a negative and non-significant effect on NIM. CIR has a negative and significant effect on ROA, ROE, and NIM, while SIZE, LTD, and MS have a positive and significant effect on ROA, ROE, and NIM. Elimination of defects has no significant effect on return on assets, return on equity, and the NIF. But CR has no significant effect on ROA and ROE but has a positive and significant effect on NIM.
It can be advantage as well as disadvantage to use the spatial weight matrix in a spatial regression model; it would benefit from explicitly quantifying spatial relationships between geographical units, but necessarily involve subjective judgment while specifying the matrix. We took Incheon City as a study area and investigated how the fitness of a spatial regression model changed by constructing various spatial weight matrices. In addition, we explored neighborhood segmentation in the study area and analyzed any influence of it on the model adequacy of two basic spatial regression models, i.e., spatial lagged and spatial error models. The results showed that it can help to improve the adequacy of models to specify the spatial weight matrix strictly, that is, interpreting the neighborhood as small as possible when estimating land price. It was also found that the spatial error model would be preferred in the area with serious spatial heterogeneity. In such area, we found that its spatial heterogeneity can be alleviated by delineating sub-neighborhoods, and as a result, the spatial lagged model would be preferred over the spatial error model.
In this paper,I present an extended two-level model using LR parsing techniques. The LR-based two-level model not only guarantees effcient morphological processing but also achieves a higher degree of descriptive adequacy than Koskenniemi's original model. The two-level model is augmented with an independent morphosyntactic module based on feature-based CF word grammar.By adopting a CF word grammar, our model is capable of dealing with complex words with discontinuous dependencies without having duplicate lexicons. It is shown how LR predictions manifested in the parsing table can help the morphological processor to minimize the dictionary lookup process.

In this paper, we analyzed the impact of capital adequacy requirements on the profitability of Korean banks using DOLS model. As a result of the analysis, the impact of BIS capital ratios on commercial and regional banks was different. Demand for capital adequacy has a greater and more significant negative impact on regional banks than on commercial banks. It was shown that bank characteristic variables rather than macroeconomic variables have a more significant effect on bank profitability. In addition, a rise in the BIS capital ratio reduces the profitability of commercial and regional banks, and the higher the ratio of loan-loss provisions, the stronger the relationship. In the case of commercial banks, it is estimated that the demand for capital adequacy did not have a significant impact as they are relatively large and faithful in capital compared to regional banks. However, in the case of regional banks, safer assets need to be selected to meet the BIS capital ratio, and the increasing propotion of these safe assets seems to have a relatively greater negative impact on profitability. Consequency, the financial authorities should consider this results and implement the bank's capital regulation policy.
