  • In this study, the behavior of water droplet impacting on a thin horizontal orifice was investigated. The impact behavior modes, transition velocities and diameters of daughter droplets were analyzed by changing the droplet velocity, orifice diameter and orifice thickness. Four typical modes of impacting droplet on an orifice were observed. The single-droplet and double-droplet transition velocities increased with increasing the orifice thickness and decreased with increasing the orifice diameter. On the other hand, the multi-droplet transition velocity decreased and then increased as the orifice diameter increased. At thin orifice thickness, the single droplet diameter approximated the orifice diameter, and increasing the orifice thickness produced a droplet larger than the orifice diameter. In the case of double droplet mode, the diameter of the first droplet showed a similar tendency like the single droplet mode, but the diameter of the second droplet was smaller than that of the first droplet, and the difference between them was affected more by the orifice thickness.

  • In this paper, we show that Petri nets can be applied to design and reliability analysis of concurrent, parallel and embedded mode system such as a lift system that is familiar to our daily life. Modeling the behavioral characteristics of the lift system we extend the standard Petri nets by nadditionally constant timed transition, fault transition, stochastic imed ttransition and conditional transition concepts. Likewise, we present esults of rdesign and analysis of the system. This method can be applied to esign and danalysis of any other concurrent systems.

  • Recently, large-scale mathematics assessments are shifting from traditional paper-based tests to computer-based tests, nationally and internationally. This study explored the mode effect (the difference in student achievement by the change of test mode) according to the types of test items, the technological function reflected in the items, the characteristics of students' computer use, and the computer-based test environment. To this end, we analyzed the results of the 2020 national assessment of educational achievement of high school mathematics conducted on a paper and computer basis. As a result, firstly, the mode effect induced by the mode transition was generally insignificant, but the mode effect was larger in the extended response type than other types. Secondly, there were differences in the mode effect according to the transition to test with computer mode where innovative items were added. Thirdly, the difference between mode effects was statistically significant according to the student's sense of efficacy in computer use. The results of this study suggest that innovative items should be introduced deliberately according to the targeted content and competency in evaluation, and that assessment design and environment preparation need to be carefully developed so that nonessential abilities other than students' mathematical ability or incidental situation do not distort the assessment results.

  • A transition-based Objet-oriented programming system(TOPS) is a transition-based object-oriented system suitable for development of various concurrent systems.A TOPS consists of a collection of interacting structural active objects(SAOs),and their behaviors are determined by the transition statements provided in their class definitions.Furthermore,SAOs can be structurally and hierarchcally composed from their component SAOs like hardware commponents. These features allow SAOs to model components for circuit simulation more naturally than passive objects used in ordinary object-oriented programming. Also,we can easily add new kinds of components by using the inheritance mechanism.Executions of transition statements may be eventand/or time-driven, and hence digital, and mixed-mode simulation is possible.Prototype simulation programs with graphical user interfaces have been developed as TOPS progrms for digital, analog, and mixed-mode circuit simulation.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the mechanical property and ductile-brittle transition temperature of Ti-Nb-P added extra low carbon interstitial free steel having a tensile strength of 440 MPa. The mechanical property and transition temperature of hot rolled steel sheets were more influenced by the coiling temperature rather than by the small amount of alloying element. Further, at the same composition, the property of the specimen coiled at low temperature was superior to that obtained at higher coiling temperature. The fracture surface of 0.005C-0.2Si-1.43Mn steel coiled at $630^{\circ}C$ showed a ductile fracture mode at $-100^{\circ}C$, but coiling at $670^{\circ}C$ showed a transgranular brittle fracture mode at $-90^{\circ}C$. The galvannealed 0.006C-0.07Si-1.33Mn steel sheet annealed at $810^{\circ}C$ has tensile strength and elongation of 442.8 MPa and $36.6\%$, respectively. The transition temperature of galvannealed 0.006C-0.07Si-1.33Mn steel sheet was increased with a drawing ratio, and the transition temperature of the galvannealed 0.006C-0.07Si-1.33Mn steel was $-60^{\circ}C$ at a drawing ratio of 1.8

  • In this paper, a MMIC waveguide mixer module based upon the novel suggested mode converter for wave-guide-to-microstrip transition was fabricated and measured. The insertion and return losses of the mode converter was optimized by compensating the discontinuity effect between ridge and microstrip with the modification of 50 $\Omega$ microstrip line pattern. Due to the low loss nature of the mode converter, a millimeter wave MMIC mixer chip can be successfully applied as a waveguide module for mmW waveguide communication system. The measured results of the module showed the successful MMIC chip application in waveguide and the negligible degradation of the supplied chip specification.

  • A Propulsion System of the CRW(Canard Rotor Wing) type UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) was composed of the turbojet engine to generate the propulsive exhaust gas, and the duct system including straight bent ducts, tip-jet nozzles, a master valve and a variable main nozzle for three flight modes such as lift/landing mode, low speed transition flight mode and high speed forward flight mode. In this study, in order to operate safely the propulsion system, the dynamic Performance behavior of the system was modeled and simulated using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$, which is the user-friendly GUI type dynamic analysis tool provided by MATLA $B^{ }$. In the transient performance model, the inter-component volume model was used. The performance analysis using the developed models was performed at various flight condition, valve angle positions and fuel flow schedules, and these results could set the safe flight mode transition region to satisfy the inlet temperature overshoot limitation as well as the compressor surge margin. Performance analysis results using the SIMULIN $K^{ }$ performance program were compared with them using the commercial program GSP.m GSP.

  • The solubility of methane in poly(n-butyl methacrylate)(PnBMA) was determined at pressures up to 35 atm. These measurements were made by volumetric technique in the temperature range from -10 to 30$^{\circ}$C. The solubility was found to be a nonlinear function of the applied pressure and could be satisfactorily described by dual-mode sorption model at temperatures below the glass txansition temperature($T_g$) of the polymer. The Langmuir capacity constant decreased with increasing temperature and vanished near the glass transition temperature of PnBMA. The solubility isotherm became linear at temperatures above the glass transition temperature of PnBMA. The temperature dependence of the dual-mode sorption parameters was also discussed.

  • In this paper, a unified control strategy using the current space vector modulation (CSVM) technique is proposed and applied to a bidirectional three-phase DC/AC converter. The operation of the converter changes with the direction of the power flow. In the charging mode, it works as a buck type rectifier; and during the discharging mode, it operates as a boost type inverter, which makes it suitable as an interface between high voltage AC grids and low voltage energy storage devices. This topology has the following advantages: high conversion efficiency, high power factor at the grid side, tight control of the charging current and fast transition between the charging and discharging modes. The operating principle of the mode analysis, the gate signal generation, the general control strategy and the transition from a constant current (CC) to a constant voltage (CV) in the charging mode are discussed. The proposed control strategy has been validated by simulations and experimental results obtained with a 1kW laboratory prototype using supercapacitors as an energy storage device.
