  • The ultimate purpose of the study is to develop a discomfort glare forecasting formula that can be practically used in Korea in order to effectively forecast discomfort glare considering the optical characteristics of the Koreans. The study was to examine the relations between discomfort glare and the variables such as luminance, background luminance, solid angle, luminous area and louver. To this end, experiments were conducted in a mock-up office that emulates the lighting environment of an ordinary office. The study was conducted by four steps as follow. First, previous studies on discomfort glare rating to define and rate discomfort glare were analyzed and modified to be applied to the experiments of this study. Second, experiment variables, variable scope, evaluation objects and evaluation points were determined after review on existing discomfort glare evaluation experimental formulas. Third, experiments were conducted in a mock-up office to be able to control variables. Finally, sensitivity of experiment variables were analyzed through examination of the relation between discomfort glare and the variables such as luminance, solid angle, louver, luminous area and subject's position. The result showed that the most influential variables on discomfort glare of an artificial light source is luminance and louver, luminous area and subject's position(solid angle) followed.

  • Recently, the importance of the construction technology of the free-formed buildings is becoming more significant, as the interest and demand for the free-formed buildings are increasing. However, it takes much time and cost during the construction of free-formed buildings because the current construction technique of freeform concrete segments is manufactured by a formwork. Therefore, in this study, we suggested a new manufacturing process based on the LOM-type 3D printer for freeform concrete segments that can shorten construction time and reduce cost when constructing freeform concrete segments, and we also verified the feasibility of production process through mock-up test. The result shows that the suggested process shortened 47.8% of production time and saved 56.2% of cost compared to the existing steel formwork method. In conclusion, it is expected that the production method of freeform concrete segments using 3D printer will contribute to the improvement of productivity of freeform concrete segments construction and the activation of new construction method for free-formed building construction.

  • This work is concerned with the analysis of stress corrosion cracking(SCC) behavior of Alloy 600 nozzle penetration mock-up according to a residual stress induced by a dissimilar metal welding(DMW) in a nuclear reactor pressure vessel. The effects of the dimension and materials of the nozzle penetration on the deformation and the residual stress induced by DMW were investigated using a finite element analysis(FEA). The inner diameter(ID) change of the nozzle by DMW and its dependance on the design variables, calculated by FEA, were well consistent with those measured from the mock-up. Accelerated SCC tests were performed for three mock-ups with different wall thicknesses in a highly acidic solution to investigate mainly the effect of the residual stress on the SCC behavior of Alloy 600 nozzle. From a destructive examination of the mock-up after the tests, the SCC behavior of the nozzle was fairly related with the residual stress induced by DMW : axial cracks were found in the ID surface of the nozzle within the J-weld region where the highest tensile hoop stress was predicted by FEA, while circumferential cracks were observed beyond both J-weld root and toe where the highest tensile axial stress was expected.

  • It is increasing the interest on the comfortable dwelling environment and the efforts to solve the problem of the floor impact noise in apartment houses have been realized, as a result numerous products have been made. The purpose of this study is to investigate the sound insulation performances according to foaming rate of floor impact noise insulators and flooring coverings in Mock-up Test Room. The test results of impact insulation performance for each floor impact noise insulators is that double structure of insulator is excel than one in low-middle frequency band and as foaming rate go up, the sound insulation performance is improved.
