A Mobility Control Architecture Suppor ting Fast Handover for Future Internet Networks

  • In this paper, we address the problem of fast handover support for future internet networks. The current mobility support protocols, for example Proxy Mobile IPv6, follow a centralized architecture in which a mobility controller is used to manage intra-network handovers that gives rise to high handover latency. To handle this problem, we propose a novel distributed mobility control architecture in which gateways in the network can exchange user information with neighbour gateways to support intra-network handovers, the mobility controller is only needed in case of inter-network handovers. Simulation results show that our architecture reduce approximately 20% intra-network handover latency than Proxy Mobile IPv6.

  • Latency, an identified element of Internet protocol (IP) mobility protocol execution, can reduce handover performance in mobile networks. Although the performance can be improved by applying an effective network-based IP mobility scheme in place of the traditional host-based alternatives, the existing inter-domain extensions of network-based IP mobility continue to suffer from an extended handover latency. This paper proposes a new inter-domain network-based IP mobility scheme based on node movement prediction. The proposed scheme accelerates the handover by preparing the future domain of the mobile node in a proactive manner. Analytical and simulation-based evaluations confirm improved performance of the proposed scheme in terms of handover latency and packet loss compared with existing schemes.

  • We studied threshold voltages and I-V characteristics. considering short channel effect of the fully depleted thin film n-channel SOI MOSFET. We presented a charge sharing model when the back surface of short channel shows accumulation depletion and inversion state respectively. A degree of charge sharing can be compared according to each of back-surface conditions. Mobility is not assumed as constant and besides bulk mobility both the mobility defined by acoustic phonon scattering and the mobility by surface roughness scattering are taken into consideration. I-V characteristics is then implemented by the mobility including vertical and parallel electric field. kThe validity of the model is proved with the 2-dimensional device simulation (MEDICI) and experimental results. The threshold voltage and charge sharing region controlled by source or drain reduced with increasing back gate voltage. The mobility is dependent upon scattering effect and electric field. so it has a strong influence on I-V characteristics.

  • Operation modes and control strategies for single-phase mobility charging station utilizing photovoltaic (PV) generation and energy storage systems (ESS) are proposed. This approach generates electric power from PV to transmit the mobility, ESS, and then transfer it to the grid when surplus electric power is generated during daytime. However, the PV power cannot be generated during night-time, and ESS and the mobility system can be charged using grid power. The power balance control based on power fluctuations and the resonant current control that can compensate harmonic components have been added to increase the stability of the system. The MATLAB/Simulink simulation was carried out to verify the proposed control method, and the 2-kW single-phase grid-tied PV-ESS smart mobility charger was built and tested.

  • GaAs나 InP 기반의 high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) 소자들은 우수한 마이크로파 및 밀리미터파 주파수 특성 및 이에 따른 우수한 저잡음 특성을 가지고 있다. GaAs 기판 위에 점진적으로 성장된 메타몰픽(Metamorphic) HEMTs (MHEMTs)는 InP 기판 위에 성정한 HEMT에 비해 비용 측면에서 커다란 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 MHEMT의 DC/RF 소신호 특성을 예측하기 위하여 InAlAs/InGaAs/GaAs MHEMT 소자들의 DC/RF 소신호 주파수 특성을 시뮬레이션하였다. 2차원 소자 시뮬레이터의 hydrodynamic 전송 모델을 사용하여 $In_{0.52}Al_{0.48}As/In_{0.53}Ga_{0.47}As$ 이종접합 구조를 갖는 제작된 0.1-${\mu}m$ ${\Gamma}$-게이트 MHEMT 소자에 대하여 파라미터 보정 작업을 수행한 후, MHEMT 소자들에 대해 DC 특성 및 RF 소신호 주파수 특성을 시뮬레이션하고 실험 데이터와 비교 분석하였다. 또한, 게이트 리세스 구조에 따른 MHEMT 소자들의 DC/RF 특성을 시뮬레이션하고 비교 분석하였다.

  • MU's mobility patterns can be found from a movement history data. The prediction accuracy and model complexity depend on the degree of application of history data. The more data we use, the more accurate the prediction is. As a result, the location management cost is reduced, but complexity of the model increases. In this paper, we classify MU's mobility patterns into four types. For each type, we find the respective optimal number of application of history data, and predictive location area by using the simulation. The optimal numbers of four types are shown to be different. When we use more than three application of history data, the simulation time and data storage are shown to increase very steeply.

Performance Study for Impact of Mobility Model and Position Update Interval in Geographic Routing

  • Geographic routing has attracted many researcers with no need for routing table to forward packet in mobile ad hoc networks. Previously, some literatures have mentioned how to improve the performance via simulation results. However, they didn't address the impact of various mobility models and beacon interval, which is used to maintain recent position information for nodes. In this paper, we introduce well-known geographic routing protocol called as GPSR and conduct simulation to identify the impact of these parameters. Even though GPSR shows acceptable performance in most cases, sometimes its performance becomes worse than what we expect.

  • Anomalously high ionic mobilities of H+ and $OH^-$ are owing to the transfer of $H^+$ by the Grotthus chain mechanism. Molecular dynamics simulations for the system of 215 water including $OH^-$ ion at 298.15 K using the OSS2 model [J. Chem. Phys. 109, 5547 (1998)] as a dissociable water model with the use of Ewald summation were carried out in order to study the dynamics of $OH^-$ in water. The calculated ionic mobility of $OH^-$ is in good agreement with the experimental result and the Grotthus chain mechanism is fully understood.

  • [ $IP^2$ ] (IP-based IMT Network Platform) is a ubiquitous platform supporting mobility using two step If address IPha (IP host address) and IPra (IP routing address) - in a backbone network. MN (Mobile Node) in $IP^2$ maintains either Active or Dormant state, which is transferred to Active state through Paging process when communication is required. In this paper, we proposed a Paging method using proxy to resolve the problem of the conventional Paging method which transmits the Paging messages to all cells in LA (Location Area) resulting in the excessive use of network resources. Performanceevaluation of the proposed method using NS-2 showed that the usage of network resources becomes more efficient by reducing paging loads, especially under the condition of increased nodes.
