WMN is highlighted as a next generation network technology due to relatively reasonable cost to be built, compared with the pre-existing wireless network. It also enables same kind of network or even other kind of network to be integrated. Some WMN researches support mobility using router protocol such as AODV and DSR because WMN has the similar features with Ad-hoc network in terms of operation. However, WMN has got different operations with additional functions of multi-interface and internet connect, it can't be a good method to manage efficient mobility any more. This study suggests method to apply MAP function of HMIPv6 to WMN as a way to manage WMN mobility. Through simulation, operation was verified and function was appreciated. Through the results of evaluation, the suggest mobility management had shorter handover delay and packet loss reduced, which improved whole network throughput rate, compared with mobility management using AODV.

As individuals generate and share various content anytime and anywhere, new networking architectures, such as content-centric networking (CCN) using the content name as a packet identifier, have been in the spotlight recently. However, the current CCN hardly takes into account node mobility problems, especially the mobility of content sources. The movement of content sources causes long delivery latency and long service disruptions. To solve that, the tunneling-based redirection scheme was proposed. However, the tunneling-based scheme requires a location-update procedure whenever the network changes, which creates many control messages and causes long latency. So, this paper presents hierarchical mobility management of mobile CCN to reduce the number of control messages and handoff latency. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme can provide low control overhead, which results in network scalability.

We propose a dynamic location management scheme and named it Virtual Dynamic Location Area(VDLA) scheme. It allocates LA on the basis of terminal mobility, VDLA consists of two phases: VLA allocation and final LA selection phases. In the first phase it allocates primary and secondary VLAs to the terminal. In the second phase the terminal selects one of them using LA selection criterion. Cost analysis of the proposed scheme is peformed and its location management cost is compared with those of FLA and DBLA.
The multi user communications that is called as the multicast service should be applied into the evolving mobile networks. In this paper, we propose a fast multicast management scheme for mobile terminals in HMIPv6 (Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) based mobile networks. In HMIPv6 based mobile networks, we consider the mobile terminal mobility that the multicast management scheme during mobile handover is used for the multicast routing changing. The changing impact to the multicast routing Is determined from handovers in intra AR, and in inter AR or MAP. In this paper, we propose multicast supporting schemes that the tunneling scheme is used in intra AR handover, and the previous subscription scheme is used in inter AR handover for considering the changing impact of the multicast routing.
Our proposed mobility management scheme is based on Multicasting and HIP(Host Identity Protocol) in PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) Networks, and allows users to handoff within and across different administrative domains. The main advantage of our scheme is to enable the inter-domain handoff of both types of nodes with a reduced signalling overhead and packet losses. Specifically, the scheme enables the interworking between host-based and network-based mobility support, by means of the interaction between PMIPv6 with Multicasting and HIP. Performance evaluations demonstrate that our scheme improves the handoff latency and packet losses compared to other global mobility management protocols.

In this paper, we have presented a dynamic, predictive location update scheme that takes into account each user's mobility patterns. A user's past movement history is used to create two-dimensional transition probability matrix which makes use of two directional consecutive location areas. A mobile terminal utilizes the transition probability to develop a predictive path which consists of several predictive nodes and then the location update is saved as long as a mobile user follows the predictive path. Using continuous-time Markov chain, cost functions of location update and paging are derived and it is shown that the number of predictive nodes can be determined optimally. To evaluate the proposed scheme, simulations are designed and the numerical analysis is carried out. The numerical analysis features user's mobility patterns and regularity, call arrival rates, and cost ratio of location update to paging. Results show that the proposed scheme gives lower total location management cost, compared to the other location update schemes.

In this paper, a new mathematical scheme of Macro Handover Management (MHM) in F-HMIPv6 networks based on Location Based Services (LBS) is proposed. Previous schemes based on F-HMIPv6 protocol usually suffer from three major drawbacks: First, They don't exploit the information about the user mobility behavior in order to reduce handover effects. Second, they only focus on the micro mobility level. Third, they don't consider the quality of service (QoS) of the traffic. The proposed MHM scheme avoids these drawbacks using the available information about Mobile Node (MN) such as user mobility patterns and MN's velocity to predict handover and improve network's QoS. It also takes the traffic type in consideration since it presents a major factor in locating QoS for the user. MHM is analyzed and compared with the F-HMIPv6. The results show that MHM improves the performance in terms of packet delivery cost, location update cost, and handover latency. The design of MHM comprises software package in the MN in addition to a hardware part in the network side. It has implications for communication, design, and pricing of mobile services.

In this paper, a service mobility scheme using user's location & service information table management and user recognition skill is proposed to support the movement of the multimedia service user and provide the seamless multimedia service environment in home network. We analyzed the proposed scheme using queueing system and we built test bed for experiment onthe proposed scheme to verify the operation and performance. As a result, we can show the proposed scheme provides a seamless multimedia service through the new client terminal when a user move to the new location and shows the performance completing the service mobility through the new client terminal within the service delay time which is shorter than the service delay time generated in the previous scheme.

With rapid advance in wireless communication technologies, many researches are conducted for providing Internet data services while users are roaming around. Efficient management of mobility of mobile nodes is essential as the use of real-time application program grows. In this paper, we propose a multicast-based localized mobility support scheme in IPv6 networks. The proposed scheme utilizes a class of multicast routing protocol for the localized mobility support. Features of the proposed scheme are use of join to a multicast group and leave from that group to localize binding update information and provision of an extended multicast group management mechanism to reduce leave latency. The results of simulation show that the proposed scheme out-performs Mobile IPv6 and Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 in UDP and TCP traffic performance and in wasted bandwidth.

This study investigates two basic operations of mobility management of PCNs (Personal Communication Networks), i.e., the location update and the paging of the mobile terminal. From the realistic consideration that a user either moves through several cells consecutively or stays in a cell with long time, we model the mobility pattern by introducing two types of CRT (Cell Residence Time). Mobility patterns of the mobile terminal are classified Into various ways by using the ratios of two types of CRT. Cost analysis is performed for distance-based and movement-based location update schemes combined with blanket polling paging and selective paging scheme. It is demonstrated that in a certain condition of mobility pattern and call arrival pattern, 2-state CRT model produces different optimal threshold and so, is more effective than IID ( Independently-Identically-Distributed) CRT model. An analytical model for the new CRT model is compact and easily extendable to the other location update schemes.
