This paper proposes a method of tracking an object for a person-following mobile robot by combining a monocular camera and a laser scanner, where each sensor can supplement the weaknesses of the other sensor. For human-robot interaction, a mobile robot needs to maintain a distance between a moving person and itself. Maintaining distance consists of two parts: object tracking and person-following. Object tracking consists of particle filtering and online learning using shape features which are extracted from an image. A monocular camera easily fails to track a person due to a narrow field-of-view and influence of illumination changes, and has therefore been used together with a laser scanner. After constructing the geometric relation between the differently oriented sensors, the proposed method demonstrates its robustness in tracking and following a person with a success rate of 94.7% in indoor environments with varying lighting conditions and even when a moving object is located between the robot and the person.
One of the fundamental roles of web object navigation is to support what the user wants precisely and efficiently from the enormous web database to the web browser. As long as the web search results are a set of individual lists, it is all right to display each and every web result for the web browser to display a web object one by one. However, in case the search results are a collection of multiple interrelated web objects, then there is a need to represent for a new mechanism for linked web objects at a time. We define a unit of web objects derived from a Steiner tree where the web objects include a set of specific keywords calculated by the weight from which the solutions are extracted. Even if a web object does not include all the keywords, then the related hypertext linked web objects are derived and displayed onto the mobile web browser with meta data in one shot. In this paper, it is applied for the mobile browser that the web contents can dynamically be displayed with Steiner trees until each renewal of the navigation request may be issued. In this paper, a new synchronized mobile browsing method is developed so that the navigating time can drastically be reduced and the web navigating efficiency can be dramatically enhanced without sacrificing memory consumption.

This paper proposes an automatic object segmentation and background composition method for video communication over consumer mobile phones. The object regions were extracted based on the motion and color variance of the first two frames. To combine the motion and variance information, the Euclidean distance between the motion boundary pixel and the neighboring color variance edge pixels was calculated, and the nearest edge pixel was labeled to the object boundary. The labeling results were refined using the morphology for a more accurate and natural-looking boundary. The grow-cut segmentation algorithm begins in the expanded label map, where the inner and outer boundary belongs to the foreground and background, respectively. The segmented object region and a new background image stored a priori in the mobile phone was then composed. In the background composition process, the background motion was measured using the optical-flow, and the final result was synthesized by accurately locating the object region according to the motion information. This study can be considered an extended, improved version of the existing background composition algorithm by considering motion information in a video. The proposed segmentation algorithm reduces the computational complexity significantly by choosing the minimum resolution at each segmentation step. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm can generate a fast, accurate and natural-looking background composition.
This paper proposes the algorithm which a mobile robot tracks the object captured by ultrasonic sensors of the robot and automatically generates a path according to the object In the proposed algorithm, a robot detects movements of the object as using ultrasonic sensors and then the robot follows the moving object. This algorithm simplifies robot path planning. The eight ultrasonic sensors on the robot capture distances between the robot and objects. The robot detects the movements of the object by using the changes of the distances captured by ultrasonic sensors. The target position of the robot is determined as the position of the detected moving object. The robot follows the object according to this movement strategy. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiments.

Object detection and tracking using visual sensors is a critical component of surveillance systems, which presents many challenges. This paper addresses the enhancement of object detection and tracking via the combination of multiple visual sensors. The enhancement method we introduce compensates for missed object detection based on the partial detection of objects by multiple visual sensors. When one detects an object or more visual sensors, the detected object's local positions transformed into a global object position. Local and global information exchange allows a missed local object's position to recover. However, the exchange of the information may degrade the detection and tracking performance by incorrectly recovering the local object position, which propagated by false object detection. Furthermore, local object positions corresponding to an identical object can transformed into nonequivalent global object positions because of detection uncertainty such as shadows or other artifacts. We improved the performance by preventing the propagation of false object detection. In addition, we present an evaluation method for the final global object position. The proposed method analyzed and evaluated using case studies.

With development of mobile communications terminal and expansion of mobile Internet, a large number of users can use mobile web contents at anytime and anywhere and will demand service of greater contents. Due to such demand, many studies are being carried out on transcoding contents so that wired web contents can be used in mobile web. However, transcoding and creation of mobile web contents involve difficulties because specifications available from telecommunications companies and mobile terminals have not been standardized. Especially, in order for serving dynamic object of wired web page contents to dynamically change according to time or user, it is required not only to program scripts to suit each terminal, but also to transcode the resources used in advance. For solution to this problem, this study uses the hierarchy structure of DOM (document object model) to display structural characteristics of wired web page. In other words, this study proposes the following technique Wired web pages are analyzed and the results are established as data structure. Then, dynamic object is extracted and the domain is indexed so that, when serving mobile web page, information can be extracted at the indexed position to create mobile web contents for service on real-time basis.

The intelligent robots that will be needed in the near future are human-friendly robots that are able to coexist with humans and support humans effectively. To realize this, robots need to recognize their position and posture in known environment as well as unknown environment. Moreover, it is necessary for their localization to occur naturally. It is desirable for a robot to estimate of his position by solving uncertainty for mobile robot navigation, as one of the best important problems. In this paper, we describe a method for the localization of a mobile robot using image information of a moving object. This method combines the observed position from dead-reckoning sensors and the estimated position from the images captured by a fixed camera to localize a mobile robot. Using a priori known path of a moving object in the world coordinates and a perspective camera model, we derive the geometric constraint equations which represent the relation between image frame coordinates for a moving object and the estimated robot's position. Also, the control method is proposed to estimate position and direction between the walking human and the mobile robot, and the Kalman filter scheme is used for the estimation of the mobile robot localization. And its performance is verified by the computer simulation and the experiment.

In this paper, we propose the mobile object tracking algorithm based on the feature vector using particle filter. To do this, first, we detect the movement area of mobile object by using RGB color model and extract the feature vectors of the input image by using the KLT-algorithm. And then, we get the first feature vectors by matching extracted feature vectors to the detected movement area. Second, we detect new movement area of the mobile objects by using RGB and HSI color model, and get the new feature vectors by applying the new feature vectors to the snake algorithm. And then, we find the second feature vectors by applying the second feature vectors to new movement area. So, we design the mobile object tracking algorithm by applying the second feature vectors to particle filter. Finally, we validate the applicability of the proposed method through the experience in a complex environment.
This paper is a study on the real-position measurements of mobile object using n network. 2-D PSD sensor is used to measure th position of moving object with light source. Position Sensitive Detector(PSD) is an useful which can be used to measure the position o incidence light in accuracy and in real-time. T the position of light source of moving target, neural network technique are proposed and applied. Real-time position measurements of the mobile robot with light source is examined to validate the proposed method. It is shown that the proposed technique provides accurate position estimation of the moving object.

This paper introduces the development process of mobile home CCTV that enables remote control and object recognition using unused smartphones and Arduino. Clients can control motors connected to Arduino through button, enable bidirectional voice communication between client-server and receive video from the server in real time. The server sends a PUSH notification to the client when its battery is low. When the server recognizes the charger, the client's remote control allows the server to dock to the charger and charge it. It was confirmed that video and voice delivery between client and server works well without any problems, and that object recognition works smoothly.
