  • Recently, mobile life-log data are collected by mobile devices and used to recode one's life. In order to help a user search data, a mobile life-log semantic network is introduced for storing logs and retrieving associative information. However, associative search systems on common semantic networks in previous studies provide for a user with only found data as text to users. This paper proposes an associative search system for mobile life-log semantic network that supports selection and keyword associative search of which a process and result are a visualized graph representing associative data and their relationships when a user inputs a keyword for search. In addition, by using semantic abstraction, the system improves user's understanding of search result and simplifies the resulting graph. The system's usability was tested by an experiment comparing the system and a text-based search system.

  • Mobile (smartphone) search engine marketing is increasingly important. Accordingly, the development of visual apparel search technology to obtain easier and faster access to visual information in the apparel field is urgently needed. This study helps establish a proper classifying system for an apparel search after an analysis of search techniques for apparel search applications and existing domestic and overseas apparel sites. An annotation technique is developed in accordance with visual attributes and apparel categories based on collected data obtained by web crawling and apparel images collecting. The categorical composition of apparel is divided into wearing, image and style. The web evaluation site traces the correlations of the apparel category and apparel factors as dependent upon visual attributes. An appraisal team of 10 individuals evaluated 2860 pieces of merchandise images. Data analysis consisted of correlations between apparel, sleeve length and apparel category (based on an average analysis), and correlation between fastener and apparel category (based on an average analysis). The study results can be considered as an epoch-making mobile apparel search system that can contribute to enhancing consumer convenience since it enables an effective search of type, price, distributor, and apparel image by a mobile photographing of the wearing state.

  • Mobile information retrieval is an evolving branch of information retrieval that is centered on mobile and ubiquitous environments. In general, mobile devices are characterized by lightweight, low power, small memory, small display, limited input/output, low bandwidth, and so on. Some of these characteristics make it impossible to apply general information retrieval to mobile environments without any modification. In order to relieve this problem, we design and implement an information retrieval system for mobile devices like wireless phones, PDA and handheld devices. We use document summarization techniques to alleviate the limitation of small display and user profiles to retrieve the most proper documents for each individual user for personalized search. Futhermore we use meta-search to lighten some burdens visiting several portal sites. In this paper, we have implemented and demonstrated the proposed mobile information retrieval system on the domain of travel and received good evaluation from users subjectively.

  • In this paper, we propose the mobile P2P structure supporting content searches for mobile peers efficiently. The proposed mobile P2P structure is a 3-tier structure which consists of a mobile peer, a mobile super peer, and a stationary super peer to reduce the content search cost of mobile P2P service. For content searches, mobile peer searches content in the communication range and performs hierarchical content searches which is using mobile super peer, stationary super peer for expansion of query region. In order to support hierarchial content searches and the continuity of services according to peer mobilities, peer's join/leave processes are explicitly stored by supporting message structures to the upper layer It is shown through experimental evaluation that the proposed structure improves about 32% contents search performance over the existing 2-tier structure. Since it also reduces the messages transferred to the stationary super peers, it reduced about 25% search loads of them.

  • As the appearances of various new mobile devices and the explosive growth of mobile device users, many researches related to mobile P2P systems have been proceeded actively. In this paper, we propose a new search algorithm for the double-layered super peer system in the mobile environment. For the proposed search algorithm, we divide the entire experiment region into a grid of cells, each of which has the same size. The grid is configured properly by considering the communication range of a mobile device and the number of peers in the system. The proposed search algorithm is a partial flooding search method based on the directions of cells involved with the search. It reduces successfully the network traffic, but shows a low search hit ratio. To enhance the search hit ratio, we introduce a bridge-peer table for a super peer and utilize an n-way search. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm made an average of 20~30% reduction in the number of message packets over the double-layered system. The success ratio was also improved about 2~5% over the double-layered system.

  • When a real-time data transfer is not possible between a reader and a back-end server in the mobile environment, the reader should support a capability to search a certain tag without communicating with a back-end server. Some recent papers related to the mobile reader-based tag search protocol have addressed privacy concerns for the reader and the tags. However, to our best knowledge, there are no papers addressing the problem arising from reusing tag lists existed in the mobile reader. In other words, there arise a problem that a mobile reader which has lost an right to access to a specific tag is able to search that tag by reusing a tag list for searching a particular tag. If mobile reader having an unauthorized tag list, the mobile reader can reuse a particular tag list. Our protocol provides the enhanced secure tag lists preventing the reuse of the tag lists and an efficient tag search protocol based on dynamic identity in the mobile reader-based RFID environments.

  • This study aims to compare information seeking behavior of 1300K users on PC and mobile phone. Transaction logs of 1300K, a major Korean shopping search engine, were analyzed. These transaction logs were collected over 1 month period, from April 1 to April 31, 2016. The results of this study show that there are a little more mobile sessions than PC sessions. Users conducted slightly more browsing on PCs than mobile phones, whereas users submitted queries more than two times on mobile phones than on PCs. Users clicked more search results on PCs than mobile phones, whereas users made important decision makings such as product purchases more on mobile phones than PCs. Top queries and categories were similar between PCs and mobile phones. Queries and categories on mobile phones were more focused than queries on PCs. Overall, mobile search behavior is more simple, passive, and focused than PC search behavior. The results of this study can be implemented to the effective improvement and development of search services for different devices.

  • In this paper, search-efficient Bi-directional-Chord(B-Chord) is proposed in P2P (peer-to-Peer) overlay network. Chord is the most popular P2P Look-up protocol. However, it applied to the mobile environment, the search success rate become lower and the request delay time increases. That is big problem. Thus, by improving the existing Chord, in this paper proposed B-Chord reduces the request delay time to in a mobile environment. Proposed B-Chord have the two Finger table and can search by selecting Finger table depending on the value of Key. By use these bi-directional, it can reduce the number of nodes Hop and search delay time. Thus, As a result, it will be able to increase the search success rate in a mobile environment.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a way to develop the information quality of mobile real estate service and improve the false property through search filter service. I compared the cases of typical mobile real estate apps that are currently in use and analyzed the usage and service status by adopting 13 search filters that are the first priority when searching for real estate information. As a result, it has been shown that the provision of high quality search filter service is required to improve the information quality in order to provide users with quick and reliable information organically at any time and anywhere according to the definition of mobile real estate service. As a result, it is more prejudiced than the countermeasures against false fraudulent products, and it is satisfied with the needs of the users and provides the improved search filter service, so that it can be trusted with the definition of mobile real estate brokerage service, Providing quality services can be said to prevent the victims of fraudulent products.

  • Recently, Tan et al. introduced a serverless search protocol in which a mobile reader maintains a tag authentication list and authenticates a tag using the list without connecting authentication server. A serverless RFID system is different from general RFID systems which use on-line server models. In the serverless RFID system, since the mobility of a personalized reader must be considered, we have to protect not only the privacy of a tag but also the privacy of a mobile reader. In this paper, we define new security requirements for serverless RFID search system and propose a secure serverless RFID search system. In our system, since tag authentication information maintained by a reader is updated in every session, we can provide the backward untraceability of a mobile reader. Also we use an encrypted timestamp to block a replay attack which is major weakness of search protocols. In addition, we define a new adversary model to analyze a serverless RFID search system and prove the security of our proposed system using the model.
