Modern businesses are adopting new technologies to serve their markets better as well as to improve efficiency and productivity. The advertising industry has continuously experienced disruptions from the traditional channels (radio, television and print media) to new complex ones including internet, social media and mobile-based advertising. This case study focuses on proposing intelligent advertising business model in Seoul's metro network. Seoul has one of the world's busiest metro network and transports a huge number of travelers on a daily basis. The high number of travelers coupled with a well-planned metro network creates a platform where marketers can initiate engagement and interact with both customers and potential customers. In the current advertising model, advertising is on illuminated and framed posters in the stations and in-car, non-illuminated posters, and digital screens that show scheduled arrivals and departures of metros. Some stations have digital screens that show adverts but they do not have location capability. Most of the current advertising media have one key limitation: space. For posters whether illuminated or not, one space can host only one advert at a time. Empirical literatures show that there is room for improving this advertising model and eliminate the space limitation by replacing the poster adverts with digital advertising platform. This new model will not only be digital, but will also provide intelligent advertising platform that is driven by data. The digital platform will incorporate location sensing, e-commerce, and mobile platform to create new value to all stakeholders. Travel cards used in the metro will be registered and the card scanners will have a capability to capture traveler's data when travelers tap their cards. This data once analyzed will make it possible to identify different customer groups. Advertisers and marketers will then be able to target specific customer groups, customize adverts based on the targeted consumer group, and offer a wide variety of advertising formats. Format includes video, cinemagraphs, moving pictures, and animation. Different advert formats create different emotions in the customer's mind and the goal should be to use format or combination of formats that arouse the expected emotion and lead to an engagement. Combination of different formats will be more effective and this can only work in a digital platform. Adverts will be location based, ensuring that adverts will show more frequently when the metro is near the premises of an advertiser. The advertising platform will automatically detect the next station and screens inside the metro will prioritize adverts in the station where the metro will be stopping. In the mobile platform, customers who opt to receive notifications will receive them when they approach the business premises of advertiser. The mobile platform will have indoor navigation for the underground shopping malls that will allow customers to search for facilities within the mall, products they may want to buy as well as deals going on in the underground mall. To create an end-to-end solution, the mobile solution will have a capability to allow customers purchase products through their phones, get coupons for deals, and review products and shops where they have bought a product. The indoor navigation will host intelligent mobile-based advertisement and a recommendation system. The indoor navigation will have adverts such that when a customer is searching for information, the recommendation system shows adverts that are near the place traveler is searching or in the direction that the traveler is moving. These adverts will be linked to the e-commerce platform such that if a customer clicks on an advert, it leads them to the product description page. The whole system will have multi-language as well as text-to-speech capability such that both locals and tourists have no language barrier. The implications of implementing this model are varied including support for small and medium businesses operating in the underground malls, improved customer experience, new job opportunities, additional revenue to business model operator, and flexibility in advertising. The new value created will benefit all the stakeholders.
The customer satisfaction of WAP service greatly relies on the usability of the service due to the limited display size of a mobile phone and limitation in realizing UI (User Interface) for function keys, browser, and OS (operating system) Currently, a number of contents providers develop and deliver varying services, and thus, it is critical to control quality level of UI in consistent standards and manner. This study suggests usability index evaluation system to achieve consistent UI quality control of various WAP services. The system adopts both top-down and bottom-up approaches. The former concerns deriving UI design components and evaluation checklists for the WAP, based on the usability attributes and UI principles. The latter concerns deriving usability-related evaluation checklists from the established UI design features, and then grouping them from the viewpoint of usability principles and attributes. This bidirectional approach has two outstanding advantages: it allows thorough examination of potential elements that can cause usability problems from the standpoint of usability attributes, and also derives specific evaluation elements from the perspective of UI design components that are relevant to the real service environment. The evaluation system constitutes a hierarchical structure by networking usability attributes, UI guideline which indicates usability principles for each attribute, and usability evaluation checklist for each UI component that enables specific evaluation. Especially, each evaluation checklist contains concrete contents and format so that it can be readily marked in O/X. The score is based on the ratio of number of items that received positive answer to the number of total items. This enables a quantitative evaluation of the usability of mobile WAP service. The validity of the proposed evaluation system has been proved through comparative analysis with the real usability problems based on the user test. A software was developed that provides guideline for evaluation objects, criteria and examples for each checklist, and automatically calculates a score. The software was applied to evaluating and improving the real mobile WAP service.

Damage caused by FOD which is a foreign substance at the movement area in airports around the world has reached 200 million every year. In 2000, the casualties occurred 133 people at charles de gaulle airport due to FOD. The occurrence of damage by FOD has continuously influenced in domestic also it makes equipment repair indirectly or directly. Accordingly, One of the solutions to the problem is the development of FOD automatic detection system. That is ongoing for plane movement area in airport. As the analyzed result, the military airport prefered mobile type and the civil airport prefered fixed type due to the characteristics of the operating type. In this paper, we analyzed the minimum performance specifications meeting the domestic requirements by investigating military and private FOD detection systems.

Polymer electrolyte fuel cells(PEFC) have been considered to be a suitable candidate for residential, portable and mobile applications, due to their high efficiency and power density, even at low operating temperature. KIER developed a 5kW class PEFC system for residential application and operated the system for over 1,000 hours. To develop a 5kW PEFC system, performance of a cell was improved through successive tests of single cell of small and large area. Fabrication of three 2,5 kW class stacks, design and fabrication of natural gas reformer, design of auxiliary equipments such as DC/DC converter, DC/AC inverter and humidifying units were carried out along with integration of components, operation and evaluation of total system. During the development period from 1999 to 2001, MEA(membrane electrode assembly) fabrication technologies, design and fabrication technologies for separators, stacking technologies and so on were developed, thereby providing basis for developing stacks of higher efficiency and power density in the future. Experience of development of natural gas reformer opened possibilities to use various kinds of fuels. Main results obtained from the development of a 5kW class PEFC system for residential application are summarized.

There have been a lot of efforts on the improvement for the ride comfort and handling stability of the combat vehicles. Especially most of vehicles for military purpose have bad inertial condition and severe operating condition such as the rough road driving, and need a high mobility in the emergency status. It is necessary to apply the controlled suspension system in order to improve the vehicle mobile stability and ride comfort ability of crews. A feasibility study is performed on the application of the semi-active suspension system with a magneto-rheological controlled shock absorber for a $6{\times}6$ combat vehicle. First, the dynamic simulation model of the vehicle including the control model for the semi-active suspension system was executed. Based on this model, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) system which has a semi-active suspension controller hardware was constructed. After full vehicle simulations were performed in virtual proving courses with this system, the semi-active suspension system was proven to give better ride comfort and handling stability in comparison with the conventional passive suspension system.

In this paper, we designed and implemented the security network NVR system that can flexibly use the internal network and VPN network. In general, the NVR systems that only use internal networks cannot be access from the outside, which has the disadvantage of unnecessary inspections and inability to access from the outside. External access has made possible using the VPN security network, and a NVR system software was designed and implemented so that the existing internal network could be used. We compared with the NVR system usage environment in the internal network through the client and the NVR system. It also has implemented usage environment with the VPN network through the mobile APP, and confirmed that the same NVR was operating normally with the same functions. We also studied on IP based NVR for flexible access with closed loop network based on VPN system.

Monitoring and control of the greenhouse environment play a decisive role in greenhouse crop production processes. The network system for greenhouse control was developed by using recent technologies of networking and wireless communications. In this paper, a remote monitoring and control system for greenhouse using a smartphone and a computer with internet has been developed. The system provides real-time remote greenhouse integrated management service which collects greenhouse environment information and controls greenhouse facilities based on sensors and equipments network. Graphical user interface for an integrated management system was designed with bases on the HMI and the experimental results showed that a sensor data and device status were collected by integrated management in real-time. Because the sensor data and device status can be displayed on a web page, transmitted using the server program to remote computer and mobile smartphone at the same time. The monitored-data can be downloaded, analyzed and saved from server program in real-time via mobile phone or internet at a remote place. Performance test results of the greenhouse control system has confirmed that all work successfully in accordance with the operating conditions. And data collections and display conditions, event actions, crops and equipments monitoring showed reliable results.
The purpose of this research is to present the major factors which determine dominant design of Smartphone OS and to verify a logical causal relationship with them and user satisfaction. To achieve this goal, OS compatibility, OS enhancement, Installed base, and network effect were presented as determinants of Smartphone OS which serves as the basis for determining dominant design and their logical causal relationship with user satisfaction was empirically analyzed. The results of the research showed that OS compatibility and OS enhancements had a positive effect on the expansion of user base. Of the two factors, OS enhancement showed that it does not only expand the user base but also acts as the cause for the fortification of the network effect. Furthermore, it was shown that OS enhancement had a direct positive effect on user satisfaction. The findings of this research are significant in its academic contribution as well as its potential for practical application by presenting the logical causal relationship in the process of determining OS dominant design an area which was previously untouched by empirical testing.

NanoQplus, which is an embedded operating system for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and developed by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), provides programmer-friendly preemptive multi-threading programming technique, but it has poor network protocol stack, as compared to TinyOS, one of the famous operating systems for WSNs. In this paper, we apply dynamic MANET on-demand routing (DYMO) protocol, which is being standardized in Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), to NanoQplus. Since DYMO has been proposed for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) and MANETs have less resource restrictions than WSNs, the basic DYMO protocol cannot be applied to WSNs without modifications. Moreover, coherence with MAC protocol should be considered in order to eliminate redundant data between MAC and network layers. Thus, we propose a modified version of the basic DYMO protocol for NanoQplus. The experimental results from a real sensor network test-bed show that the DYMO implementation using NanoQplus works efficiently in WSNs.
In mobile communications, it is very important that we predict the propagation environments of radiation pattern, in order to decide the service area, select the best location of the best station, design the cell etc. Therefore, by analyzing the propagation prediction model that is varied according to the kind of antenna, the beam angle, the terrain and obstacles, we expect that the economic operating of communication networks, the calling quality and the service of subscriber will be enhanced. In this paper, we select the around of Seji base station in Naju-city Chonnam for modern suburban area and measure the field strength to propose the optimal propagation prediction model for suburban areas. We propose the propagation prediction model that, it is not found in the other models until now, consists of the correction coefficient with the relative differences of antenna effective height of the base station and mobile station for minimizing errors. Finally, comparing the results of the field test with the computer simulation(PPGIS : Propagation Prediction Geographic Information System) results for the Hata model, the Egri model, the Carey model and the propose model, we confirm the property of the proposed model.
