Recent studies have indicated that mobile markets harbor applications (apps) that are either malicious or vulnerable, compromising millions of devices. Some studies indicate that 96% of companies' employees have used at least one malicious app. Some app stores do not employ security quality attributes regarding authorization, which is the function of specifying access rights to access control resources. However, well-defined access control policies can prevent mobile apps from being malicious. The problem is that those who oversee app market sites lack the mechanisms necessary to assess mobile app security. Because thousands of apps are constantly being added to or updated on mobile app market sites, these security testing mechanisms must be automated. This paper, therefore, introduces a new mechanism for testing mobile app security, using white-box testing in a way that is compatible with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) working environments. This framework will benefit end-users, organizations that oversee app markets, and employers who implement the BYOD trend.

The growth of fixed telephony has been steady but unexceptional. The number of mobile telephone subscribers, however, has increased dramatically throughout the decade. The increasing prevalence of mobile communications, in conjunction with the relatively high penetration of fixed telephony, will cause the market for converged services to become significant in coming decade. The current fixed and mobile regulatory regimes are very different. Regulation of the fixed market tends to focus on monitoring the activities of incumbent operator and ensuring that other operators can compete on a fair basis. Mobile markets have historically been more competitive, and the asymmetric nature of regulation of these markets has not been as prevalent as for fixed communications. The purpose of this paper is to identify the fixed-mobile convergence and to suggest the future regulatory principles for fixed-mobile convergence.
High-tech markets are unpredictable owing to rapid technology innovation, diverse customer needs, high competition, and other elements. Many scholars have attempted to explain the uncertainty in high-tech markets using their own various approaches. However, sufficiently clear ways to predict diverse changes and trends in high-tech markets have yet to be presented. Thus, this paper proposes a new approach model, that is, systematic market segmentation, to give more accurate information. Using an empirical dataset from the mobile handset market in the Republic of Korea, we conduct our research model consisting of three steps. First, we categorize nine basic segments. Second, we test the stability of these segments. Finally, we profile the characteristics of the customers and products. We conclude that the approach is able to offer more diagnostic information to both practitioners and scholars. It is expected to provide rich information for an appropriate marketing mix in practice.
We present a unified explanation of the internationalization strategies of major mobile network operators (MNOs). We have developed a framework that analyzes the strategies of major international MNOs in terms of the relationship between their degree of involvement in international business operations and the degree of equity participation. The results show a positive association between these two dimensions as expected, but they also reveal some exceptional cases in which certain MNOs are actively involved in the business operations of other foreign MNOs, even with minor (or zero) equity investments. In this paper, we argue that the strategic actions of the major MNOs which are the largest shareholders of foreign MNOs are in an equilibrium status because these major MNOs derive maximum benefit from full or considerable management control and active involvement. Finally, we predict that latecomers (MNOs who are just about to enter foreign telecommunications markets) may adopt an incremental investment approach because most developed markets and deregulated emerging markets with growth potential are already preempted by major MNOs. Therefore, the window of opportunity for internationalization in those markets is currently small.

The global market for mobile phone business is already matured. Accordingly, the repurchasing issue for the mobile phone is being weighted drastically by the marketers. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationships among seven crucial factors, and also examines the differences between Korean and Indonesian markets concerning the relationships of these key success factors. This research classifies these two markets as a matured market and an emerging market respectively. The structural model is tested with the data from each of the sub-samples. The analysis of the multi-group structural equation model (MSEM) showed that compared to Korean, Indonesian had more emphasized on extra-functions for the mobile phone as well as giving more influence on satisfaction from brand image. Due to the different market situation and users, the lessons to which product features must be more emphasized could be obtained for the product managers in the industry.
The speed and magnitude of mobile phone adoption is a recent worldwide phenomenon akin to those of the television in the middle of the 20th century and the Internet in the late 20th century. During the 2000s, mobile phone adoption was exploded and subscriptions reached 3 billion around the globe. Korea and Japan have been ahead of the rest of the world in introducing new handset and service capabilities. They were the first markets to launch 3G services and are currently the only markets to have achieved mainstream adoption of 3G with over one-third of customers in both markets subscribing to 3G services. The purpose of this article is to explore the cultural similarities and differences associated with mobile mail by presenting findings from a cross-cultural comparison of perceptions and uses of the technology. The results of the study are as follows:Of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Korea, a person's perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use attitude. Among the characteristics that make up a person's perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use intention. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. But, of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Japan, a person's perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment were found to have a positive effect on use attitude. Among the characteristics that make up a person's perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment were found to have a positive effect on use intention. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. This study contributes to telecommunications research by delineating the various stimuli to consider for successful technology acceptance in a global setting, which can account for differential impacts across regions. The findings of this study can assist telecommunications operators in formulating an effective region-specific strategy when launching a wireless data service in a particular environment.
This paper illustrates the competition between the mobile pay and credit card systems by utilizing the theory of two-sided markets. Two firms, as platforms, maximize the profit collecting fees from consumers on one side and from retailers on the other side. Consumers pay to buy goods and services with mobile pay, credit card, or cash. The basic model is one that each platform maximizes its profit. We show that the fees for credit card holders and retailers are higher than the respective costs. The fee for retailers of the mobile payment is higher than its cost, while the buyer's fee may be higher or lower than its cost. Applied model is the one that employs the delegation game model. The total profit of the mobile pay system is composed of its profit and the weighted demand for the mobile pay. It is shown that buyers' fee under the applied model is lower than that under the basic model, resulting in an increase of the demand for the mobile pay. The fee for the retailers rises, albeit the sum of fees for the buyers and retailers falls. The profit for the mobile pay system is increased, while that for the credit card company stays the same.

The emergence of RFID markets and development of various RFID-embedded mobile devices has brought fundamental changes to our lives. As the availability of RFID readers and tags that are implanted in smart phones and table PCs increases, information on RFID-affixed objects can be tracked wirelessly and this had open possibilities for B2B businesses to be run like B2C businesses. However, given the popularity of the RFID markets, there is limited research in this area. This paper serves to develop an extended technology acceptance model by Mobile RFID characteristics (perceived cost, security, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability) examines the determinant factors that cause the acceptance of mobile RFID. To do so, the study conducted a survey targeting smart phone users and used the PLS path modeling, one of the structural equation models to verify the significance of research hypothesis. As a result, perceived cost, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability turned out to have a real effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Security turned out to have a partial effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness or perceived ease of Use.

This paper explored how to design amobile application for Korea's traditional markets based on O2O service and data science technologies. In order to cover a broader scope of customers, diversify the ways to sell products, and increase the profits of Korea's traditional markets, the application bridges online customers with offline stores at traditional markets and augments both convenience and accessibility. Beyond the typical face-to-face interactions between customers and sellers at traditional markets, this application offers mobile payments and personalized recommendations of nearby stores and preferable products using Beacon and datascience technologies. Moreover, it offers multi-language support for foreign customers who are not familiar with Korea's traditional markets and the products sold there. In conclusion, using O2O service, which is a rising trend among prevalent platform technologies, this study proposed a new e-commerce model for Korea's traditional markets to promote market expansion.
