Paddling Posture Correction System Using IMU Sensors

  • In recent times, motion capture technology using inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors has been actively used in sports. In this study, we developed a canoe paddle, installed with an IMU and a water level sensor, as a system tool for training and calibration purposes in water sports. The hardware was fabricated to control an attitude heading reference system (AHRS) module, a water level sensor, a communication module, and a wireless charging circuit. We also developed an application program for the mobile device that processes paddling motion data from the paddling operation and also visualizes it. An AHRS module with acceleration, gyro, and geomagnetic sensors each having three axes, and a resistive water level sensor that senses the immersion depth in the water of the paddle represented the paddle motion. The motion data transmitted from the paddle device is internally decoded and classified by the application program in the mobile device to perform visualization and to operate functions of the mobile training/correction system. To conclude, we tried to provide mobile knowledge service through paddle sport data using this technique. The developed system works reasonably well to be used as a basic training and posture correction tool for paddle sports; the transmission delay time of the sensor system is measured within 90 ms, and it shows that there is no complication in its practical usage.

Controlling Position of Virtual Reality Contents with Mouth-Wind and Acceleration Sensor

  • In this paper, we propose a new framework to control VR(Virtual reality) contents in real time using user's mouth-wind and acceleration sensor of mobile device. In VR, user interaction technology is important, but various user interface methods is still lacking. Most of the interaction technologies are hand touch screen touch or motion recognition. We propose a new interface technology that can interact with VR contents in real time using user's mouth-wind method with acceleration sensor. The direction of the mouth-wind is determined using the angle and position between the user and the mobile device, and the control position is adjusted using the acceleration sensor of the mobile device. Noise included in the size of the mouth wind is refined using a simple average filter. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed technology, we show the result of interacting with contents in game and simulation in real time by applying control position and mouth-wind external force to the game.

  • Demand for machine learning systems continues to grow, and cloud machine learning platforms are widely used to meet this demand. Recently, the performance improvement of the application processor of smartphones has become an opportunity for the machine learning platform to move from the cloud to On-Device AI, and mobile applications equipped with machine learning functions are required. In this paper, machine learning tools for mobile applications are investigated and compared the characteristics of these tools.

  • As a futuristic construction model, building information model(BIM) based project management system(PMIS) and mobile PMIS have been showing visible sign. However, researches on the 3D BIM based PMIS using mobile device are hard to find, result from limitation of mobile device application(slow speed at huge BIM file, display size, and etc.) and undefined standard of business processes. Therefore, this research aims at studying feasibility of mobile BIM PMIS based on cloud computing as a business model. In case of applying mobile BIM PMIS, 3D drawings and integrated building informations are possible on mobile devices in real time. it would support increasing the productivity of project participants as designer, engineer, supervisor, and etc. Globally, BIM based PMIS and Mobile BIM system, cloud computing based mobile BIM simulator are in the concept or experimental phase, therefore it is possible to secure global leading technology of IT and construction merger in the mobile BIM.

  • 최근 모바일 장치에서의 멀티미디어 응용은 무선 인터넷의 급속한 발전으로 점점 증가하고 있다. 특히, 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 대용량의 응용은 모바일 환경에서 점점 더 증가하고 있다. MPEG-7은 다양한 타입을 이용하여 멀티미디어 데이터를 검색할 수 있다. 그러나 멀티미디어의 제한된 용량으로 MPEG-7은 데스크 탑 컴퓨터시스템에서만 제한적으로 사용되고 있다. 따라서. 모바일 환경에서의 멀티미디어 데이터의 대용량 관리는 매우 중요한 연구 대상이 되고 있으며 이를 위한 클라이언트-서버 환경에서의 멀티미디어 데이터 관리를 위한 MPEG-7 기반의 내장형 데이터베이스 관리 시스템이 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG-7 데이터의 특성을 반영한 MPEG-7 데이터 클러스터링 방법을 제안한다. 또한 이를 바탕으로 PDA과 같은 모바일 장치에서 MPEG-7 스킴 기반의 내장형 멀티미디어 데이터베이스 관리 시스템을 개발한다.

모바일용 White-LED Driver IC에 관한 연구 (A Study of White-LED Driver IC for Mobile Applications)

  • In this study, we proposed WLED(White-Light Emitting Diode) driver IC for mobile applications. This IC drove WLED for mobile applications with low input voltage and high efficiency by using boost converter. The device was designed by using boost converter applied current-mode control algorithm and provided PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) & analog dimming. Designed IC consisted of bias block, drive block, control block, protection block. We confirmed this device worked well through a application PCB (Printed Circuit Board) test.

  • Nowadays on-line services based on Internet are being popularized and there are lots of E-Commerce applications using Internet. So we can use lots of information on anytime. To maximize the convenience of the network, the platform of the service is moving from E-Commerce to M-Commerce. In this paper we developed the application system for mobile environment. Therefore applicants can apply their applications and see the competition rate of the applying departments anytime and anywhere even if in the network disconnection regions. And we can manage more economically the application system because we use the network only the time when we syncronize the mobile device to mobile server.

  • This paper presents a mobile color-compensating application using a RGB color compensation algorithm. The proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to differentiate images which cannot be distinguished by them. The suggested mobile application has two functions: converting images taken by camera and converting contents in the device screen. The proposed application is computationally inexpensive, since it does not require color space transformation. Simulation results show that the proposed application enables color vision deficiencies to receive information expressed by colors such as subway line maps.

  • In this paper, an exoskeleton-type motion capturing system is designed and implemented. The device is designed to have 12 degree-of-freedom entirely to represent human arm motions. Forward and inverse kinematics of the device are analyzed to make sure of its singular positions. With the designed model parameters, simulation studies are conducted to verify that the designed motion capturing system is effective to represent human motions within the workspace. As a counterpart of the exoskeleton system, a mobile robot is built to follow human motion restrictively. Experimental studies of teleoperation from the exoskeleton device to control the mobile robot are carried out to show feasible application of wireless man-machine interface.
