  • This work was carried out ozone generation and TCE decomposition characteristics using dielectric ball materials filled barrier discharge reactor and catalyst's reactor for ozone decomposition. Ozone concentration generated from $Al_2O_3$ or $TiO_2$ filled barrier discharge reactor was so high compared with non-filled discharge reactor. This reactor is good discharge structure for generating the high ozone concentration. In addition, TCE decomposition rate and COx conversion rate increased using $MnO_2$ filled discharge reactor, because ozone was decomposed at the same discharge space on the surface of $MnO_2$ catalysts. To identify the $MnO_2$ catalytic effects, TCE decomposition rate reached to 100[%] by the decomposition of ozone at $MnO_2$ catalyst's reactor by the arrangement of $Al_2O_3$ filled discharge reactor and $MnO_2$ catalyst reactor. Finally, $MnO_2$ catalyst is good materials for the decomposition of ozone and this process will be useful for decomposing VOCs such as TCE.

  • An orange-emitting phosphor for inorganic electroluminescent device has been studied. Cu and Cl were co-doped in Mn-doped ZnS for a high-performing phosphor. The effect of $Mn^{2+}-doping$ concentration as well as $Mg^{2+}-sensitizer$ addition on the luminescence characteristics has been investigated.

  • MnBi alloys were fabricated by arc melting and annealing at 573 K. The heat treatment enhanced the content of the low-temperature phase (LTP) of MnBi up to 83 wt%. The Bi-excess assisted LTP MnBi alloys were used in the hybridization with the Nd-Fe-B commercial Magnequench ribbons to form the hybrid magnets (100-x)NdFeB/xMnBi, x = 20, 30, 40, 50, and 80 wt%. The as-milled powder mixtures of Nd-Fe-B and MnBi were aligned in a magnetic field of 18 kOe and warm-compacted to anisotropic and dense bulk magnets at 573 K by 2,000 psi for 10 min. The magnetic ordering of two hard phase components strengthened by the exchange coupling enhanced the Curie temperature ($T_c$) of the magnet in comparison to that of the powder mixture sample. The prepared hybrid magnets were highly anisotropic with the ratio $M_r/M_s$ > 0.8. The exchange coupling was high, and the coercivity $_iH_c$ of the magnets was ~11-13 kOe. The maximum value of the energy product $(BH)_{max}$ was 8.4 MGOe for the magnet with x = 30%. The preparation of MnBi alloys and hybrid magnets are discussed in details.

  • The effect of micro-pulse plasma nitriding temperature and time on the case thickness, hardness and nitride formation in the surface of Fe-12Cr-22Mn-X alloy with 3% Co and 1% Ti alloys elements investigated. External compound layer and internal diffusion layer was constituted in plasma nitride case of Fe-12Cr-22Mn-X alloys and formed nitride phase such as ${\gamma}'-Fe4N\;and\;{\varepsilon}-Fe2-3N$. Case depth increased with increasing the plasma nitriding temperature and time. Surface hardness of nitrided Fe-12Cr-22Mn-X alloys obtained the above value of Hv 1,600 and case depth obtained the above value of $45{\mu}m$ in Fe-12Cr-22Mn-3Co alloy and $60{\mu}m$ in Fe-12Cr-22Mn-1Ti alloy. Wear-resistance increased with increasing plasma nitriding time and showing the higher value in Fe-12Cr-22Mn-1Ti alloy than Fe-12Cr-22Mn-3Co alloy.

  • Undoped and Mn-doped $In_2O_3$ films were prepared by radiofrequency magnetron sputtering technique. The effects of Mn doping on the structural and optical properties of as-prepared films were investigated using X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Mn doping can enhance the intensity of (222) peak in Mn-doped $In_2O_3$ thin film, indicating Mn dopant promotes preferred orientation of crystal growth along (222) plane. XPS analyses revealed that the doped Mn ions exist at + 2 oxidation states, substituting for the $In^{3+}$ sites in the $In_2O_3$ lattice. UV-Vis measurements show that the optical band gap $E_g$ decreases from 3.33 to 2.87 eV with Mn doping in $In_2O_3$, implying an increasing sp-d exchange interaction in the film. Our work demonstrates a practical means to manipulate the band gap energy of $In_2O_3$ thin film via Mn impurity doping, and significantly improves the photoelectrochemical activity.

  • MnCo2S4/CoS2 electrode with highly accessible electroactive sites is prepared using the hydrothermal method. The electrode exhibits an areal capacitance of 0.75 Fcm-2 at 6 mAcm-2 in 1 M KOH. The capacitance is further increased to 2.06 Fcm-2 by adding K3Fe(CN)6 and K4Fe(CN)6 (a redox couple) to KOH. This increment is associated with the redox-active properties of cobalt and manganese transition metals, as well as the ion pair of [Fe(CN)6]-3/[Fe(CN)6]-4. The capacitance retention of the MnCo2S4/CoS2 electrode is 87.5% for successive 4000 charge-discharge cycles at 10 mAcm-2 in a composite electrolyte system of KOH and ferri/ferrocyanide. The capacitance enhancement is supported by the lowest equivalent series resistance (0.62 Ωcm-2) of MnCo2S4/CoS2 in the presence of redox additive couple compared with the bare KOH electrolyte.

  • The homobimetallic anion, $M^+({\eta}^5-MeCp)Mn(CO)_2Mn(CO)_5^-(M^+=Na^+,\;PPN^+)$was disrupted by CH2CHCH2Cl in THF at various temperatures ($20^{\circ}C~50^{\circ}C$) under the pseudo 1st order reaction conditions where excess of allyl chloride was employed under a nitrogen atmosphere. This homobimetallic anion seems to be involved in a concerted reaction mechanism in which a four-centered transition state is proposed. After undergoing the transition state, this reaction eventually leads to (MeCp)Mn$(CO)_3$ on addition of CO and $({\eta}^1-allyl)Mn(CO)_5$, respectively. However, in case of $Na^+$ analog, $Na^+$ may play a novel counter ion effect on the disruption reaction either by transferring one terminal CO from the $Mn(CO)_5$ moiety on to the $({\eta}^5-MeCp)Mn(CO)_2$of the corresponding homobimetallic complex, eventually resulting in $({\eta}^5-MeCp)Mn(CO)_3$ or through the interaction between $Na^+$ and the leaving group (Cl) of allyl chloride. This reaction is of overall second order with respect to homobimetallic complex with the activation parameters (${\Delta}H^{\neq}=17.15{\pm}0.17kcal/mol,\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}=-9.63{\pm}0.10$ e.u. for $Na^+$ analog; ${\Delta}H^{\neq}=22.13{\pm}0.21 kcal/mol,\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}=9.74{\pm}0.19$ e.u. for $PPN^+$ analog reaction).

  • The heterobimetallic anion, (OC)5CrMn(CO)5-M+ (M+=Na+, PPN+), which has a donor-acceptor metal-metal bond1, was reacted with allyl bromide to yield BrCr(CO)5- and Mn(CO)5(CH2CHCH2). The reaction mechanism has been proposed in terms of the consecutive reaction pathway in which Cr(CO)5(THF) is an important intermediate leading to the corresponding product. Counterion effect on this reaction was also evaluated and the results were compared with those of the corresponding reaction of the mononuclear carbonyl anion, Mn(CO)5-.
