수중격벽을 이용한 슬러지이송 (Sludge Transportation by the Submerged Barrier)

  • The submerged barrier, employed in a reactor, divided a reactor into sludge settling zone and mixing zone according to flow type. In spite of mixing in the mixing zone, the lower part of sludge settling zone than the top of barrier was in a steady flow due to the barrier, which prevented the turbulent flow, produced from the mixing zone, from being diffused into the sludge settling zone. Therefore, the sludges in the mixing zone flowed backward over the barrier into the upper part of the sludge settling zone by turbulent flow and settled down in the sludge settling zone by the force of gravity. When barrier/water level ratio was 0.5, most sludges almost did not settle down in tile sludge settling zone because the sludges were directly affected by the turbulent flow, generated from mixer in the mixing zone. At 0.63 of barrier/water level ratio, sludge in the middle part of sludge settling zone rocked from side to side weakly. And sludge in the lower part became piled up on the bottom over this ratio. After 10minutes of sludge settling, the lower part of sludge settling zone was over 5000mg/L of sludge concentration although intial sludge concentration was 2300mg/L. By using the submerged barrier and the flow types, it could transfer sludge from this to that.

에어믹서가 설치된 공조기 혼합실 내의 온도분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study of Temperature Profiles in Mixing Zone of AHU with an Air Mixer)

  • A study of temperature profiles in mixing zone of AHU (air handling unit) can contribute greatly to enhance performance of AHU system, so the study on the temperature distribution between RA (return air) and OA (outdoor air) is important to analyze the mixing characteristics in a mixing zone of AHU. Accordingly, the temperature profiles during RA (return air) and OA (outdoor air) supply process into mixing zone of AHU with an air mixer are studied experimentally. The effect of air mixer, OA temperature and RA/OA flow rate are studied in detail. In this study, the results show that the mixing efficiency is all high for installed the air mixer. The more OA temperature increase and OA flow rate decrease, the more mixing efficiency is high.

방류관의 설계 및 배치에서의 법적 혼합역의 필요 (Requirements for Regulatory Mixing Zone on Outfall design and positioning)

  • 해양에 방류되는 오폐수의 흐름형태 즉 흔합특성을 제어하고 설계하기 위해 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 최근 들어 선진국을 중심으로 바람직한 수질관리를 목표로 법적혼합역과 관련한 수질기준을 정하여 오염무의 방류로 인한 해양수질환경의 오염을 최소화하고자 하는 노력이 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 근역 및 원역에서의 법적혼합역을 CORMIX 모델로 구현하고 법적혼합역의 필요성을 강조하며 이를 효율적으로 규제하기 위한 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이는 보다 개선된 방류수 모델링을 제안하고 나아가 효율적인 해양방류관 설계뿐 아니라 건전한 항만의 설계 및 개발에 기여할 것이다.

  • Mixing zone characteristics of the wastewater effluents discharged from an ocean outfall have been investigated using an outfall mixing zone analysis method. This analysis was applied to Sokcho ocean outfall case and was used to simulate the concentration distribution of wastewater effluents. Hourly concentration distributions of outfall effluent discharges were averaged for the period of 15 days. The results show that near-field dilution was relatively high with the dilution of 130 for the winter season.

마산만 해양방류 혼합구역에서의 하수농도 분포 변화 (Concentration Changes of Wastewater Effluent Discharge in the Mixing Bone of Masan Sea Outfall)

  • Huang 등[1996]이 제안한 해양방류 혼합구역에 대한 분석방법을 활용하여 마산만 해양방류 해역의 혼합구역에서 주변해수의 흐름과 밀도성층의 변화에 따른 혼합 희석에 의한 수중방류하수의 농도변화분포를 산정하였다. 방류해역에서 5월 중순부터 8월 중순까지 3개월 동안 연속 관측된 조류의 매 시간별 유향과 유속변화에 따른 혼합구역에서의 하수농도분포를 계산하고, 마산만 해수유동에 있어 가장 큰 요소인 조류의 변화를 고려하여 15일 간격으로 방류하수의 평균된 농도분포를 구하였다. 이 결과에 의하면 조류의 유속이 상대적으로 강했던 기간동안에는 혼합구역에서의 평균농도는 매우 낮았고, 유속이 약했던 기간에는 낮은 희석률로 인해 평균농도가 매우 높게 나타났다. 그리고 관측된 조류의 주 방향으로 인해 혼합구역이 방류해역의 서측 해안까지 확장됨을 나타내었으며, 이는 방류해역에서 조사된 퇴적물의 오염도 분포결과와도 잘 일치되었다.

  • It is so difficult to small amounts of two or more fluid species into single in microchannel because flows are usually laminar. In this regard multilamination micro mixer including recirculation zone is presented. Alternating feed micro channels make multilamination and converging-diverging channels form recirculation zone. Multilamination with geometric focusing decreases diffusion path ana recirculation zones make vortex. In this paper flow patterns and mixing properties of multilamination micro mixer including recirculation zone were investigated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The CFD results provided qualitative information on mixing.

  • As a large scale port development in coastal waters proceeds step by step and populations in the vicinity of port are getting increased, the issue on "how to dispose the treated municipal water and wastewater in harbor" brings peoples′ concern. The submarine outfall system discharges the primary or secondary treated effluent at the coastline or in deep water, or between these two. The effluent, which has a density similar to that of fresh water, rises to the sea surface forming plume or jet, together with entraining the surrounding sea water and becomes very dilute. We intended in this paper to investigate the impact on dilution of effluent and the behavior of flume under the conditions of the seasonal and spatial temperature variations, which have not been noticeable in designing effective marine outfall system. To predict and analyze the behaviour and dilution characteristics of plume not just with the effluent temperature, but also with the seasonal variation of temperature of surround water and tidal changes, CORMIX(Cornell Mixing Zone Expert System)-GI have been applied. The results should be used with caution in evaluation the mixing zone characteristics of discharged water. We hope to help for the effective operation of outfall system, probable outfall design, protection of water quality, and warm water discharges from a power plant, etc.

속초 해양방류 하.폐수의 혼합구역에 대한 특성분석 (Mixing Zone Analysis of Wastewater Effluent Discharged from Sokcho Ocean Outfall)

  • 속초 하수종말처리장에서의 하·폐수 해양방류에 따른 혼합구역 특성을 파악하기 위해 Huang et al.(1996)의 분석방법을 활용하여 혼합구역 모형을 수립하였다. 겨울철인 11월 하순부터 1월까지 약 2개월 동안 속초 해양방류수역에서 매시간 연속 관측된 해류, 해수 밀도의 성층자료, 그리고 하수 방류량자료를 입력한 모형모의를 통해 속초 해양방류수역에서 하수농도의 분포변화를 계산하였으며, 동일 기간에 관측된 조석자료를 토대로 약 15일 간격으로 구분한 기간 동안에 대해 평균한 농도분포를 제시하였다. 이 결과에 의하면 겨울철동안 평균된 최소희석률은 130으로 방류 하수의 혼합·의석이 대체로 양호했다. 그러나 해안에 평행한 연안류와 조류의 주 방향에 따라 방류하수의 혼합구역이 외해보다는 해변 쪽으로 확장되고 있어 인근 해수욕장의 수질악화에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다.

PREDICTING PARAMETERS OF TRANSIENT STORAGE ZONE MODEL FOR RIVER MIXING

  • Previously developed empirical equations used to calculate the parameters of the transient storage model are analyzed in depth in order to evaluate their behavior in representing solute transport in the natural streams with storage zone. A comparative analysis of the existing theoretical and experimental equations used to predict parameters of the transient storage (TS) model is reported. New simplified equations for predicting 4 key parameters of the TS model using hydraulic data sets that are easily obtained in the natural streams are also developed. The weighted one-step Huber method, which is one of the nonlinear multi-regression methods, is applied to derive new parameters equation. These equations are proven to be superior in explaining mixing characteristics of natural streams with the transient storage zone more precisely than the other existing equations.

  • This study has been carried out to examine into wettability of Cu-5%Sn alloy in $Al_2O_3$, MgO, $SiO_2$ and graphite, respectively and investigated into the change in macrostructure of Cu-5%Sn alloy according to kind and mixing rate of mold-coating. The results obtained from the experiment are summerized as follows; 1. Cu Cu-5%Sn alloy, wettabilities of $Al_2O_3$ and MgO were good, on the other hand, wettabilities of $SiO_2$ and graphite were bad. 2. The fine equiaxed zone was created because of the role of $Al_2O_3$ and MgO as preferential nucleation sites. 3. Notwithstanding change of mixing rate of $SiO_2$ in mold coating the equixed zone was not created. 4. The area of equiaxed zone was varied according to mixing rate in the case of using $Al_2O_3$ and MgO in mold-coating.
