황색종 담배에서 MH, FA, Flumetralin 및 Butralin의 처리방법이 곁순억제에 미치는 영향 (Effects of MH, FA, Flumetralin and Butralin Applications on Sucker Control of Flue-cured Tobacco)

  • Experiments were conducted to evaluated the sucker control efficiency of several suckercides and their combinations for flue-cured tobacco in Korea. In 1999, Flumetralin(Prime+, P+), Butralin(B), Fatty alcohol(FA, n-decanol 85%), pottasium salt of maleic hydrazide(MH), tank mix of MH with P+ (MH·P+), and another tank mix of MH with FA(MH·FA) were applied after topping, respectively, then sucker number and sucker dry weight were investigated on the 30th and 50th day from treatment. Sucker number and dry weight were significantly lowered by P+, B, FA and MH·P+ applications compared with those of MH and MH·FA for both investigated periods. A significant reduction in sucker number and dry weight was observed in P+, B, and MH·P+ applications. FA treatment was not so much effective in sucker control as P+. In 1999 and 2000, several suckercides and tank mixes of their combinations were applied first at button stage and second after topping, respectively, to compare the effects of sucker control on yield, price index and chemical components of cured leaves. Compared to the standard method of FA 30x at button stage followed by MH40x application after topping(FA 30x + MH 40x), sucker number and dry weight decreased by [FA 30x (or P+ 1%] or [FA 30x(or B 1.5%) + MH 60x·B 1.5%] treatments, even at reduced MH levels. But yield, price index and chemical components of cured leaves were not differed among treatments.

  • DA-3002, an authentic recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH), was examined for mutagenicity in the reverse mutation test on bacteria, in the chromosomal aberration test on cultured mammalian cells and in the micronucleous test on mice. The reverse mutation test was performed by a plate incorporation method with or without a metabolic activation system(S9 Mix) using Salmonella typhimurium strain TA100, TA1535, TA98 and TA1537. DA-3002 did not significantly increase revertant colonies in any of the test strains under any conditions at dose levels ranging from 0.0125 to 0.4 IU/plate, compared with the vehicle control. In the chromosomal aberration test using cultured Chinese hamster lung(CHL) cells, DA-3002 did not increase the number of aberrant cells in the presence or absence of S9 mix at concentrations of 0.0125 IU/mι to 0.4 IU/mι, compared with the vehicle control. In the micronucleus test, male ICR mice were given DA-3002 intraperitoneally at a dose level of 20, 40 and 80 lU/kg. The incidence of bone marrow micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes in the DA-3002 treated mice did not differ from that of the vehicle control. These results indicate that DA-3002 doesn't have mutagenic potential under the present test conditions.

Application of artificial neural networks for the prediction of the compressive strength of cement-based mortars

  • Despite the extensive use of mortar materials in constructions over the last decades, there is not yet a robust quantitative method, available in the literature, which can reliably predict mortar strength based on its mix components. This limitation is due to the highly nonlinear relation between the mortar's compressive strength and the mixed components. In this paper, the application of artificial neural networks for predicting the compressive strength of mortars has been investigated. Specifically, surrogate models (such as artificial neural network models) have been used for the prediction of the compressive strength of mortars (based on experimental data available in the literature). Furthermore, compressive strength maps are presented for the first time, aiming to facilitate mortar mix design. The comparison of the derived results with the experimental findings demonstrates the ability of artificial neural networks to approximate the compressive strength of mortars in a reliable and robust manner.

  • 3D printing technology is recognized as a core technology that will lead the next generation, and is a field that can have a large ripple effect if it innovates the existing construction production method. Therefore, this study deals with the development of a 3d printing system using an articulated robot for construction purposes. In this system, ABB robot was used to control the developed cement gun accurately. The system is composed of mixer to mix cementitious materials, pump to transfer the materials, abb robot to motion control and cement gun to extrude the materials to print required construction parts. Using the system developed in this study, a suitable mix ratio of cementitious materials was found and successively printed a 1m high structure that demonstrated possibility of printing structures using 3d printer. In the future, we plan to build a foundation for automated construction through research on construction methods and materials that can be continuously layered for the system.

실내 준휘발성유기화합물 방출량 측정법에 대한 고찰 (Consideration of Measurement Method for SVOCs Emission Rates)

  • Semi volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are used as plasticizers in building materials, interior materials, furniture, consumer electronics. etc. In the home, these SVOCs mix together with house dust. There is thus concern over the health effects of SVOCS in the home, there is a risk that they ini1uence childhood asthma and allergies. It is difficult to measure SVOCs emission rates from building materials or household appliances utilizing the usual test chamber methods, because the boiling points of SVOCs are higher and they are apt to adhere to the surface of the test chamber used. In this study, we introduce FLEC chamber method, passive sampler method and micro chamber method, which are used in Germany and Japan in order to measure SVOCs emission rates. Characteristic, merits and demerits of test methods are also considered.

  • Cemented Sand and Gravel(CSG) is a material made by simple mixing of rock-based raw materials such as excavated soil and riverbed gravel together with cement and water. The use of CSG methodl for cofferdam and large dam is gradually increasing in Japan because a quarry and aggregate plants can be diminished. Also, the CSG method can reduce dam construction cost, construction duration and destruction of environment. In this paper, field test and test construction of CSG method was conducted on Hwabuk Dam. The mechanical properties of CSG, such as compressive strength, extention strength and field permeability test were investigated. From the results of the experimental study, application study of CSG method was discussed.

  • Roller-compacted concrete(RCC) dam is a new type that combines advantages of earthfill dam and concrete dam in construction, This method save cost due to their rapid method of construction. RCC is, used in RCC dams, no-slump concrete so it is different that measure method of consistency and mixture properties compare with conventional mass concrete, There are existing two major design method, which one used in USA the other used in Japan. The results obtained in this study would be useful in establishing mixture proportions for dam concrete for RCC dams by apply method of compound their merit.

A Simple and Reliable Method for Preparation of Cross-Contamination-Free Plant Genomic DNA for PCR-Based Detection of Transgenes

  • A simplified but reliable method was developed for the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based detection of genetically modified (GM) plants. The modified CTAB (mCTAB) method enabled us to prepare a high quality of genomic DNA from several hundred plant leaf samples in one day. Using DNA samples prepared from seven dicots and two monocots, approximately 1.75-kb regions spanning 17 S to 25 S ribosomal RNA genes were successfully amplified in a 2X PCR pre-mix containing BLOTTO. Further fidelity assessment of the mCTAB method by PCR analysis with Roundup Ready soybean (RRS) and non-RRS plants showed that the DNA samples prepared alternately from each of two lines were evidently free of cross-contamination. These results demonstrate that the mCTAB method is highly recommended for the rapid detection of transgenes in large numbers of leaf samples from diverse transgenic plants.

  • In the manufacturing process of ready-mixed concrete, quantity management directly affects the workability and strength of concrete. Therefore, water quantity is the most important management factor for water quality control of ready-mixed concrete. It can be said that the number of unit water in the mix design, the water quantity due to the surface water contained in the aggregate used, and the water quantity taking into account the concentration of sludge contained in the recycling water when using the recycling water are factors that affect the quantity management of ready-mixed concrete. In this study, as a stable quality control method of ready-mixed concrete, a quantity management method by aggregate surface water and a sludge concentration management method according to the use of recycling water were proposed. Thus, we tried to suggest an efficient quantity management method for stabilizing the quality of ready-mixed concrete.

조사료 단백질 함량 증진을 위한 트리티케일과 콩과작물 혼파 효과 (Effect of Mixed Seeding between Triticale and Legume crops for Increasing Protein Contents in Forage)

  • 남부지역에 비해 상대적으로 사료맥류의 생산이 적은 중북부지역에서 안정적인 조사료 최대생산과 사료가치 향상을 위한 최적 혼파조합, 혼파비율, 재배법 확립을 위하여 연구한 결과 트리티케일과 크림슨클로버 혼파에서는 건물수량은 트리티케일에 크림슨클로버를 8:2의 비율로 처리한 혼파조합에서 1,464 kg/10a로 가장 많았으며, 트리티케일이나 크림슨클로버 단파보다 혼파에서 수량이 많았다. 혼파 비율에 따른 수량 차이는 없었으나 파종유형에 따른 수량차이를 보면 조파보다는 산파에서 수량이 많았다. 트리티케일과 콩과작물의 혼파조합 및 비율에 따른 사료가치에서 조지방(CP) 함량은 크림슨클로버 단파구가 17.2%로 트리티케일 단파구의 7.4%에 비해 높았으며, 트리티케일과 크림슨클로버를 7:3의 비율로 혼파한 시험구에서 조단백질 함량이 9.0%로 개선되어 트리티케일과 콩과 작물의 혼파에 의하여 단백질을 포함한 사료가치의 향상이 가능할 것으로 생각되었다.
