Research on the Rocket Motor Support Structure Inserted inside the Missile Fuselage (동체 내삽형 추진기관 연결장치 연구)

  • This paper presents the rocket motor support structure to position solid rocket engine within a missile fuselage. When the rocket motor is mounted inside a missile fuselage, fuselage structure must be designed to withstand various structural problems resulting from inserted rocket motor such as axial thrust force, shock/vibration, axial deformation of the rocket motor tank in addition to the flight loads. The motor support structure system proposed in this paper proved to be very simple and efficient while satisfying all the design requirements.

  • This paper presents an adaptive control against uncertainties in tail-controlled STT (Skid-to-Turn) missiles. We derive an analytic uncertainty model from a parametric affine missile model developed by the authors. Based on this analytic model, an adaptive feedback linearizing control law accompanied by a sliding mode control law is proposed. We provide analyses of stability and output tracking performance of the overall adaptive missile system. The performance and validity of the proposed adaptive control scheme are demonstrated by simulation.

  • The Missile Flight Test Launch Control System is to operate in conjunction with the Fire Control System during flight test to guided weapons. Also, this is a system for the test control and situation monitoring depending on the type of guided weapons and testing purposes. Message structure, communication protocols, such as data types for interworking with the fire control system and the Missile Flight Test Launch Control System are defined in the Launch Control ICD(Interface Control Document). ICD are composed differently of each guided weapons system and each test object. Previously, in order to interwork with the Fire Control System, the interlocking software was developed, which had a variety of problems. Therefore, we developed a new parsing algorithm in order to recognize the variety of Launch Control ICD and verified that the algorithm operates normally by checking transmitting and receiving various message in conjunction with the fire control system.

  • A design method of robust controller for the longitudinal autopilot of BTT missile is considered. The difficulties are a set of linearized dynamic models which corresponds to different operating points has a wide range of parameters and it has even Non-Minimum Phase(NMP) zeros. In this paper, such a family of models is expressed by an interval plant. Then a robust control design method using QFT is represented. A simulation result shows that the proposed controller satisfies the given specification well.

  • A practical filter is suggested for ground-Dasea missile tracking in a capture guidance mode, utilizing angle-only measurements from a passive sensor and its performance is evaluated by a realistic system simulation study. Also suggested is a missile acceleration model that provides inputs to the filter. The suggested filter has a decoupled structure of independent azimuth and elevation channels with efficiency in commutation time and memory requirements.

  • The Radar Cross Section (RCS) is a virtual region indicating the strength of a wavelength at which a radar signal is reflected and received. As the ship's RCS represents its own stealth performance and survivability, efforts have been made in various areas from design to construction to reduce the RCS. The RCS can be predicted using design drawings and CAD models, but it is necessary to measure the RCS at sea since sea clutter and multipath reflections occur in the sea environment. However, such RCS predictions and measured values provide only a simple relative magnitude to the user, and there has not been much research on this topic. In this paper, a missile countermeasure technique was studied using 3D RCS measurement data in an operating environment. The elevation and azimuth angle of the ship viewed from the missile were estimated using the location information of the missile, and the RCS value was inverted by mapping it to previously measured 3D RCS measurement data. In addition, by using the movement information of the missile, the RCS observed by the missile could be predicted in advance, and this method can be used to propose a response plan based on the maneuvering and chaff system.

  • This work describes a basic concept of network based battle management system in AMD(Air & Missile Defense). The AMD operation inherently is joint concept that each single service do not satisfy the requirements of AMD theater operation. It is integrated system of joint forces that is operated simultaneously. The analysis of the future battlespace and air & missile threat is shown. From this analysis the prospective scheme of network based battle management system in building Korean future AMD is presented.

  • North Korea has continued developing ballistic missiles with various ranges. Even through the recent launch long-range missiles, it can be inferred that North Korea's Missile technology has reached a level where it can even threaten the US. moreover, through the three times nuclear tests, North Korea is known to have succeeded at gaining 10~20KT of explosive power as well as the minimization and lightening of nuclear warhead. Considering the short length of war zone in Korean peninsula and the possibility of nuclear equipment, if be the most severe threat across the whole peninsula. Since the midcourse phase flight takes the longest time, ROK should establish the ability to intercept at this middle phase. From this perspective, this paper describes mission effect of a sea-based BMD system through empirical threat and flight characteristic analysis using MIT model that was not suggested in original research.

  • This paper describes the development of DSSS wireless communication uplink system for missile remote control. In consideration of low probability of intercept, low probability of exploitation, anti-jam, low latency, and doppler frequency offset, we used DSSS partially DBPSK. Also we used the selective diversity with two receiving antennas to mitigate multipath interference which is the dominant channel impairment and the turbo product code(TPC) for forward error correction(FEC) to improve bit error rate performance.
