  • Minimum reflection and backward radiation methods on liquid/solid interrace were used to determine the velocity dispersion relation of acoustical surface wave for brass and aluminum substrates and copper/stainless steel nickel/brass, and nickel/aluminum layered substrates. Dispersion data agreed to dispersion characteristics of a generalized Lamb wave. The difference between velocities determined by two phenomena was closely related to the dispersion characteristics. This correspondence was explained by considering the generation mechanism of surface waves and the concept of group velocity.

  • In this study the explosion characteristics of terephtalic acid dust(PTA) was investigated with the Hartmann type apparatus. The minimum ignition energy, minimum explosible concentration, flame propagation velocity, explosion pressure, explosion pressure rise rate and the effect of inert dust(talcum) on explosion characteristics were measured. Flame velocity was 50m/s at 700g/m$^3$ concentration, and the explosion pressure and explosion pressure rise rate were most likely with that of gas explosion. It was found that an inert dust acts as a heat sinker and it disturbs the combustion of flammable dust, as a result, explosion pressure and explosion pressure rise rate were decreased and minimum explosion concentration was increased with increasing the fraction of talcum dust in PTA.

  • This paper describes the variation of lubricant's temperature effects on elastohydrodynamic lubrication. The Newton-Raphson technique was used to solve the simultaneous system of Reynolds and elasticity equations. To show effects of lubricant's temperature, average temperature across the oil film was calculated using the energy equation. Pressure distribution, film shape, and temperature distribution were obtained for fully flooded conjunctions, and various dimensionless speed parameters while load and material parameters were held constant. Minimum film thickness were obtained for various material properties while load and velocity were held constant. It is drawn that the thermal effects have a strong influence on a minimum film thickness under high rolling velocity and slip ratio.

  • In this paper, the problem of minimum-time trajectory planning of a robot manipulator with an arbitrary path is dealt. As for a straight path, the trajectory planning can be done without difficulty since the path is easily parameterized by its length. However, this is not the case for a non-straight path. In this paper, by noting that the others' joint angles and velocities are determined if one joint's angle and velocity are known, we reduce the problem of trajectory planning on a non-straight path to one in the 2-dimensional space of one joint's angle and velocity. Then, by applying the dynamic programming, we achieve the minimum-time trajectory planning. A simulation is done for verifying this.

  • The pressure fluctuations in a gas-solid fluidized bed has been analysed using s statistical method interpreting fluidized 냥d behavior. The performing statistical a analysis of the pressure fluctuations in a fluidized bed of 6.7cm-ID. using uniform p particle size of 115 to $1015{\mu}m$ in diameter. The fluidized gas used air(velocity 0.1~1.2m/sec) at settled bed height to diameter ratios which is LlD=l.O. Then, the pressure fluctuations measured by DPT(differantial pressure transducer). The measuring characteristic values of pressure fluctuation were the mean value and standard value, and also, it has been found that the standard deviation of the pressure fluctuations can be effectively used to predict minimum fluidizing velocity and to explain the fluidized phenomena.

  • Effects of residence time on the MIT(Minimum Ignition Temperature) in suspended Mg particles are examined by using MIT experimental data and calculation results of terminal velocity. With increasing of the average particle diameter, we were able to identify that MIT of Mg dusts increased and the calculated residence time of particle decreased exponentially. Also, the influence on terminal velocity due to temperature increase increased slightly with increasing of average particle diameter.

  • There is two popular kites, Bangpae and Gaori. While the Bangpae kite is being widely loved by experts, the Gaori kite is popular for kids and beginners. Three types of Gaori kite product have been survayed on the tow point. The aerodynamic force on Gaori kite is numerically calculated by using Fluent. Through flight simulations at the tow point of each kite type, the new tow point, at which the required minimum velocity is lower than those of existing tow points, has been proposed as a standard. The required minimum velocity is the threshold wind velocity at which the kite begins to fly.

  • A study has been conducted experimentally on heat transfer characteristics of louvered fin heat exchangers with various fin spacings in air. The experimental results are as follows; 1. Mean heat transfer coefficient is increased with increasing air velocity and the optimum fin spacing shows at S=5mm. 2. Pressure drop is increased with increasing air velocity and its maximum value shows at S=3.5mm and its minimum value shows at S=6mm. 3. $\bar{h}/{\Delta}P$ is decreased with increasing air velocity and its maximum value shows at S=5mm and its minimum value shows at S=3.5mm.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a prediction method for sabot-trajectory of projectile using high speed camera data analysis. Through analyzing trajectory of sabot with high speed camera data, we can extract its real velocity and acceleration including effects of friction force, pressure of flume, etc. Using these data, we suggest a prediction method for sabot-trajectory of projectile having variable acceleration, especially for minimum and maximum acceleration, by using interpolation method for velocity and acceleration data of sabot. Also we perform the projectile launching tests to achieve the trajectory of sabot in case of minimum and maximum thrust. Simulation results show that they are similar to real tests data, for example velocity, acceleration and the trajectory of sabot.

  • In this study, we chose a flat die to optimize a general die geometry. The optimization was aimed at obtaining a uniform velocity distribution across the exit of the die. For the optimization, the input and output design parameters were randomly computed, and response surfaces were generated to obtain statistical data for the minimum and maximum sensitivities computed during optimization. Subsequently, object functions with constraints were numerically computed to obtain the minimum errors in the velocity difference (i.e., variable "Outp" in this study). Finally, we obtained the candidate optimized dataset. Note that the current numerical computations were simultaneously conducted for an entire extruder, i.e., screw plus die. The numerical outlet velocity distributions in the modified die geometry tended to be much more uniform than the conventional distributions in the current optimization processes for this specific flat die.
