교통신호등 제어를 통한 교통망 최적화 알고리즘 (A Algorithm on Optimizing Traffic Network by the Control of Traffic Signal Timing)

  • 본 논문에서는 네트워크 토폴로지 설계방법들(minimum spanning tree와 Dijkstra algorithm)을 사용하여 교통 격자 가로망을 최적화 하는 방안을 다루며, 최소신장트리(minimum spanning tree)에서 직진 교통신호등간의 연동들을 통해 출발지와 목적지간의 지연시간을 최소화 하는 것으로 교통격자 가로망을 최적화한다. 또한 컴퓨터 네트워크에서 사용되어지는 Dijkstra algorithm을 통해 구해진 경로에 따라 차량 운전자들이 그 경로를 준수한다고 가정한다면 격자망에서 교통신호등의 연동을 통해 최적화할 수 있음을 보여준다. 격자 가로망에서의 모의실험결과는 직진 교통신호등의 연동을 통해 망을 가로지는 지연시간을 최소화함을 보여준다.

  • 셀룰러 시스템에서 최소기간 차단율은 수신된 신호 레벨이 최소기간 이상 계속하여 임계치 이하로 될 확률을 의미한다. 이는 수신 신호만을 대상으로 하여 임계치 이하로 될 때는 오수신으로 정의하는 것보다 더욱 현실적이다. 특히 DS-CDMA 셀룰러 시스템에서는 셀의 통화량에 따라서 수신되는 신호대 간섭비가 계속하여 가변되는데 기존의 해석에서는 셀의 통화량과는 무관하게 최소기간 차단율을 해석하였으나, 이 논문에서는 셀의 통화량에 따른 최소기간 차단을 유도한다. 해석결과 셀의 통화량이 증가할수록 최소기간 오수신율을 급격히 증가함을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Minimum Number of Ship-handling Simulation Required for Evaluating Vessel's Proximity Measure

  • The Korean government has introduced and enforced maritime traffic safety assessment to secure traffic safety since 2010. The maritime traffic safety assessment is needed by law to design a new port or modify an existing one. According to Korea Maritime Safety Act, in the assessment the propriety of marine traffic system consists of the safety of channel transit and berthing/unberthing maneuver, safety of mooring, and safety of marine traffic flow. The safety of channel transit and berthing/unberthing maneuver can be evaluated only by ship-handling simulation. The ship-handling simulation is carried out by sea pilots working with the port concerned. The vessel's proximity measure is an important factor to evaluate traffic safety. The proximity measure is composed of vessel's closest distance to channel boundary and probability of grounding/collision. What is more, the probability of grounding becomes important. According to central limit theorem, a sample has a normal distribution on condition that its size is more than 30. However, more than 30 simulation runs bring about the increase of assessment period and difficulty of employing sea pilots. Therefore this paper is to find out minimum sample size for evaluating vessel's proximity. First sample sets of size of 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. are selected randomly on the basis of normal distribution. And then KS test for goodness of fit and t-test for confidence interval are applied to each sample set. Finally this paper decides the minimum sample size. As a result this paper suggests the minimum sample size of 5, that is, the simulation of more than five times.

  • VTS(Vessel Traffic Service)는 해양사고의 감소와 항만 시설의 효율적인 이용 측면에서 해상교통의 효율성을 증대한다. 이는 항만 및 수로는 각 수용능력이 있으며, VTS의 적절한 교통 관리를 통해 안전하게 그 수용능력에 맞출 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 적절한 교통 관리는 선박의 수로 및 항만 내 불필요한 대기를 줄일 수 있으며, 이는 곧 선사나 항만터미널의 경제적 이익으로 이어질 수 있다. 한편, 우리나라 항만이나 수로는 안전을 위한 최고속력의 제한이 있으나 최저속력에 대한 규제는 없다. 그러나 항만 및 수로에서 저속으로 운항하는 선박은 운항 가능한 항로를 장시간 점용할 수 있는 가능성이 있어 효율적인 항만 운영에 방해의 요소가 될 수도 있다. 그러므로 본 연구는 효율적인 항만 및 수로 이용을 위해 선박의 최저속력을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 현행 법률 및 제도를 검토하고 대기행렬 이론을 이용해 항로 내 적정 최저속력을 제안했다.

Traffic control technologies without interruption for component replacement of long-span bridges using microsimulation and site-specific data

  • The replacement of damaged components is an important task for long-span bridges. Conventional strategy for component replacement is to close the bridge to traffic, so that the influence of the surrounding environment is reduced to a minimum extent. However, complete traffic interruption would bring substantial economic losses and negative social influence nowadays. This paper investigates traffic control technologies without interruption for component replacement of long-span bridges. A numerical procedure of traffic control technologies is proposed incorporating traffic microsimulation and site-specific data, which is then implemented through a case study of cable replacement of a long-span cable-stayed bridge. Results indicate traffic load effects on the bridge are lower than the design values under current low daily traffic volume, and therefore cable replacement could be conducted without traffic control. However, considering a possible medium or high level of daily traffic volume, traffic load effects of girder bending moment and cable force nearest to the replaced cable become larger than the design level. This indicates a potential risk of failure, and traffic control should be implemented. Parametric studies show that speed control does not decrease but increase the load effects, and flow control using lane closure is not effectual. However, weight control and gap control are very effective to mitigate traffic load effects, and it is recommended to employ a weight control with gross vehicle weight no more than 65 t or/and a gap control with minimum vehicle gap no less than 40 m for the cable replacement of the case bridge.

콘벡스 비용함수를 갖는 점-대-다중점 최소비용 흐름문제 (Point-to-Multipoint Minimum Cost Flow Problem with Convex Cost Function)

  • In this paper, we introduce a point-to-multipoint minimum cost flow problem with convex and demand splitting. A source node transmits the traffic along the tree that includes members of the point-to-multipoint connection. The traffic is replicated by the nodes only at branch points of the tree. In order to minimize the sum of arc costs, we assume that the traffic demand can be splitted and transmitted to destination nodes along different trees. If arc cost is linear, the problem would be a Steiner tree problem in networks eve though demand splitting is permitted. The problem would be applied in transmitting large volume of traffic from a serve to clients in Internet environments. Optimality conditions of the problem are presented in terms of fair tree routing. The proposed algorithm is a finite terminating algorithm for $\varepsilon$-optimal solution. convergence of the algorithm is obtained under monotonic condition and strict convexity of the cost function. Computational experiences are included.

에너지절약을 위한 상호련결된 반보호좌회전 교차로의 신호시간설계 (Traffic Signal Timing at Interconnected and Semi-Protected-Left-Turn Intersections for Energy Saving)

  • This study was undertaken to develop a traffic signal timing method for interconnected and semi-protected-left-turn intersections(the intersections which have left-turn signal but not exclusive left-turn lanes) on four-lane streets for energy saving and to computerize the method for the practical use. For this study, a probability model which could estimate the utilized time of the shared left-turn lane by through traffic during green period was developed based on field studies. The two left-turn treatments, leading and lagging left-turns, were tested for the intersections, and it can be concluded that the leading left-turn was more efficient for the normal urban streets on which through traffic is major traffic. Adopting the leading left-turn macro-models to estimate vehicular average delay and proportions of vehicles stopped at the intersections were developed. Using the two models as well as the idling fuel consumpution rate and the excess fuel consumption per stop-go speed change, a traffic signal timing method for the intersections for energy saving was developed and computerized. The method can be used for more than four-lane streets and for other measures of effectiveness such as minimum delay, minimum stop rates, etc.

Link Quality Estimation in Static Wireless Networks with High Traffic Load

  • Effective link quality estimation is a vital issue for reliable routing in wireless networks. This paper studies the performance of expected transmission count (ETX) under different traffic loads. Although ETX shows good performance under light load, its performance gets significantly worse when the traffic load is high. A broadcast packet storm due to new route discoveries severely affects the link ETX values under high traffic load, which makes it difficult to find a good path. This paper presents the design and implementation of a variation of ETX called high load - ETX (HETX), which reduces the impact of route request broadcast packets to link metric values under high load. We also propose a reliable routing protocol using link quality metrics, which is called link quality distance vector (LQDV). We conducted the evaluation of the performance of three metrics - HETX, ETX and minimum hop-count. The simulation results show that HETX improves the average route throughput by up to 25% over ETX under high traffic load. Minimum hop-count has poor performance compared with both HETX and ETX at all of the different traffic loads. Under light load, HETX and ETX show the same performance.

우리나라 항만에서의 항행 최저속력 규제에 관한 연구 (A Study on Proper Minimum Navigation Speed Control in the Korean Ports)

  • 항행속력규제는 통항안전성을 확보하기 위한 중요한 요소로서, 지금까지는 최고속력규제에 대하여만 연구 검토되어지고 있다. 최근 우리나라 항만에서는 중량물 운반용 예부선 등을 포함한 저속 항행선박으로 인하여 선박운항자의 위험부담감은 점점 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 저속선박에 대한 최저속력 규제의 필요여부와 교통용량별 적정 최저속력을 산출하여 제안하였다. 이 연구의 구체적인 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 시간당 통항척수가 5척의 경우에 최저속력을 5kts 이상으로 설정하면 속력규제 효과가 높다 (2) 시간당 통항척수가 10척 이상의 경우에 최저속력을 7kts로 설정하여야 속력규제 효과가 다소 있다 (3) 반면에, 통항척수가 많은 해역에서는 상대속력차가 적은 선박이 다수 발생하여, 선박 간 좁은 이격거리로 장시간 항행하여야 하므로 최저속력규제의 효과가 없는 것으로 판단된다.

HLA/RTI 기반의 교통류 분산 시뮬레이션 모형에 관한 연구 (Development of Traffic Simulation Using High Level Architecture/Run Time Infrastructure)

  • There are plenty of optimization models for the signal-system of a single intersection and area traffic. Some of those models are adopted for the real traffic signal control system. The simulators for a single crossroad have been developed, so that we could evaluate optimization models and traffic control systems. However, the simulators for the area traffic are still being developed. Therefore, there are many limitations in the analysis and evaluation for area traffic control system. The area traffic is consisted of several intersections which are very complicated and many traffic strategies are adopted for the control system. This paper features an effective area traffic control system based on the High Lever Architecture(HLA). In this paper, we discuss the design of HLA-based area traffic control simulation. We describe technical motivations for the HLA, the key elements of the architecture and how they are minimum and essential to the goal of reuse and interoperability. A distributed simulation with HLA/RTI provides stable and satisfactory experimental results. Moreover, the prototype traffic control system provides reliable accomplishment compared to the NETSIM and TRANSYT-7F models.
