The purpose of this research is to write out vulnerability for western area in Jeju island by using drastic method which is the most frequently utilized among the writing techniques of underground water vulnerability. In case of aquifer, it was divided into two types, gravel layer or not and rated. And soil media was rated two kinds of method. Plan 1 is concerned with only soil class and plan 2 is concerned with soil class and gravels (or rocks), Vadose zone was rated differently according to the ratio of gravel layer. In case of plan 1, the scope of drastic index is from the minimum 77 to the maximum 176, on the other hand, plan 2, the scope of drastic index is from the minimum 79 to the maximum 182. In case of using the water quality data of Nitrate from 1994 to 2004, Pearson correlation coefficient are 0.164(Plan 1) and 0.124(Plan 2) and Spearman correlation coefficient are 0.132(Plan 1) and 0.113.
Numerical analysis is important for the design, construction and maintenance of large caverns. The rock mass contains generally discontinuities such as faults, joints and fissures. The mechanical behavior and geometric characteristics of these discontinuities would have a significant impact on the stability of the caverns. In this research the Distinct Element Method(DEM) was used to analyze the structural stability of the large cavern. The Barton-Bandis Joint Model (B-B J.M) was used as a constitutive model for the joint. In addition, two different cases 1) analysis with a support system and 2) analysis with no support system, were analyzed to optimize a support system and to investigate reinforcing effects of a support system. The most significant parameters of in-situ stress, JRC of in-situ natural joints, and spatial distribution characteristics of discontinuities were acquired through field investigation. Displacement (horizontal, joint shear), maximum joint opening, maximum and minimum principal stresses, range of relaxed zone, rockbolt axial forces and shotcrete stresses were calculated at each excavation stage. As a result of analysis the calculated values proved to be under the allowable value Rockbolts also proved to be an efficient support measure to control joint shear displacement which had significant effects on extending the relaxed zone. As a consequence, the structural stability of the cavern was assured with an appropriate support system.
In this paper an octagon plan shaped building (study building) in presence of three square plan shaped building is subjected to boundary layer wind flow and the interference effects on the study building is investigated using Computational fluid dynamics. The variation of the pressure coefficients on different faces of the octagon building is studied both in isolated and interference conditions. Interference Factors (IF) are calculated for different faces of the study building which can be a powerful tool for designing similar plan shaped buildings in similar conditions. A metamodel of the IF, in terms of the distances among buildings is also established using Response Surface Method (RSM). This set of equations are optimized to get the optimum values of the distances where the IF is unity. An upstream Interference zone for this building setup and wind environment is established from these data. Uncertainty principle is also utilised to determine the optimum positions of the interfering buildings considering the uncertain nature of wind flow for minimum interference effect. The proposed procedure is observed to be computationally efficient in deciding optimum layout at buildings often required in city planning. The results show that the proposed RSM-based optimization approach captures the interference zone accurately with substantially less number of experiments.

In this paper, the optimal seismic design method for inducing the beam-hinge collapse mechanism of steel moment frames is presented. This uses the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II(NSGA-II) as an optimal algorithm. The constraint condition for preventing the occurrence of plastic hinges at columns is used to induce the beam-hinge collapse mechanism. This method uses two objective functions to minimize the structural weight and maximize the dissipated energy. The proposed method is verified by the application to nine story steel moment frame example. The minimum column-to-beam strength ratio to induce the beam-hinge collapse mechanism are investigated based on the simulation results. To identify the influence of panel zone on the minimum column-to-beam strength ratio, three analytic modeling methods(nonlinear centerline model without rigid end offsets, nonlinear centerline model with rigid end offsets, nonlinear model with panel zones) are used.

The Vertical Drains(Sand Drains, Pack Drain, PBD) is used for Vertical Drains Method in domestic. Each of the drains is selected after it consider a field condition and efficiency of drain. A discharge capacity is very important factor, which to estimate a efficiency. And the smear Zone where disturbance area of in-suit by installation of Vertical Drains is important factor to select a drains. In this study, the complex discharge capacity test was operated for discharge capacity comparison of the Wing Drain and PBD. And a model test was operated to apprehend smear zone of the Wing Drain and PBD. From these tests, it was apprehended an engineering characteristic of vertical drain. The results of the complex discharge capacity test, a discharge capacity fell below $20cm^3/sec$ to $1cm^3/sec$ in more than overburden load $2.5kg/cm^2$. The Wing Drain maintained a over $40cm^3/sec$ in more than overburden load $2.5kg/cm^2$ and minimum discharge capacity $8cm^3/sec$. The results of the smear zone test, a influence bounds of smear zone was more larger in case of the Wing Drain(rectangle) than the PBD. But when a discharge capacity of Wing Drain is considered, it was concluded which smear zone bounds difference was effected in comparison with PBD. I think that it minimized a mandrel section to minimize a smear zone effect range

In order to examine the primary trends and characteristics of geological lineaments along the southwestern boundary of Okcheon zone, we carried out the analysis of geological lineament trends over six selected sub-areas using Landsat-5 TM images and digital elevation model. The trends of lineaments is determined by a minimum variance method, and the resulting geological lineament map can be obtained through generalized Hough transform. We have corrected look direction biases reduces the interpretability of remotely sensed image. An approach of histogram modification is also adopted to extract drainage pattern specifically in alluvial plains. The lineament extracting method adopted in this study is very effective to analyze geological lineaments, and that helps estimate geological trends associated various with the tectonic events. In six sub-areas, the general trends of lineaments are characterized NW, NNW, NS-NNE, and NE directions. NW trends in Cretaceous volcanic rocks and Jurassic granite areas may represent tension joints that developed by rejuvenated end of the Early Cretaceous left-lateral strike-slip motion along the Honam Shear Zone, while NE and NS-NNE trends correspond to fault directions which are parallel to the above Shear Zone. NE and NW trends in Granitic Gneiss are parallel to the direction of schitosity, and NS-NNE and NE trends are interpreted the lineation by compressive force which acted by right-lateral strike-slip fault from late Triassic to Jurassic. And in foliated Granite, NE and NNE trends are coincided with directions of ductile foliation and Honam Shear Zone, and NW-NNW trends may be interpreted direction of another compressional foliation (Triassic to Early Jurassic) or end of the Early Cretaceous tensional joints. We interpreted NS-NNE direction lineation is related with the rejuvenated Chugaryung Fault System.

Ever since the ideal forming theory has been developed fur process design purposes, application has been limited to sheet forming and, for bulk forming, to two-dimensional steady flow. Here, application for the non-steady case was performed under the plane-strain condition based on the theory previously developed. In the ideal flow, material elements deform following the minimum plastic work path (or mostly proportional true strain path) so that the ideal plane-strain flow can be effectively described using the two-dimensional orthogonal convective coordinate system. Besides kinematics, for a prescribed final part shape, schemes to optimize a preform shape out of a class of initial configurations and also to define the evolution of shapes and boundary tractions were developed. Discussions include the two problematic issues on internal tractions and the non-monotonous straining. For demonstration purposes, numerical calculations were made for a bulk part under forging.
Submerged rubble structures include artificial reef and the mound part of the rubble mound breakwater. Artificial reef is a type of the submerged wave absorbing structure installed in a coastal zone to prevent beach erosion and designed to initially reduce the energy of incoming waves so that its run-up height and overtopping quantity can be decreased. In order to ascertain the stability of such submerged rubble structures, minimum weight of the rubble has to be calculated first from the incoming wave height using Hudson's formula or Brebner-Donnelly formula. Based on the calculated minimum weight, a model is built for use in a hydraulic model test carried out to check its stability. The foregoing two formulas used to calculate the minimum weight are empirically derived formulas based on the result of the tests on the rubble mound breakwater and it is, therefore, difficult for us to apply them directly in the calculation of the minimum weight of the submerged structures. Accordingly, this study comes up with a numerical simulation method capable of deformation analysis for rubble structures. This study also tries to identify the deformation mechanism of the submerged rubble structures using the numerical simulation. The method researched through this study will be sufficient for use for usual preparations of the design guidelines for submerged rubble structures.
In this paper, the maximum minimum strain energy density criterion was applied to the mixed mode fatigue test of A5052 H34 alloy. In this study result we can have seen that the authors stress intensity factor for the finite width specimen and method of determining testing load, based on the plastic zone size and the limited maximum stress intensity factor by ASTM STANDARD E-647-95, is useful.

Automatic Identification System(ALS) employed SOTDMA for the multiple access method. In SOTDMA systems, slot reuse may result in discrimination or garbling. Especially Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying(GMSK) Co-Channel Interference(CCI) resulted from the slot reuse in the Aloha zone degrades the system performance such as capacity In this paper we introduce some useful techniques to cancel the CCI and discuss the methodology which is applicable to AIS-SOTDMA
