This study aims to establish a monitoring method for managing the effective maintenance of tailings dams. The monitoring of a tailings dump area involves several parameters and their investigation through a selection of evaluation items. The extents of defects and progressive failures also need to be effectively estimated. Therefore, the monitoring items can be subdivided into categories relating to the retaining wall structure (concrete wall, reinforcing stone wall, mesh gabions) and general facilities (liner, covering soil, slope, tailings, rain protection facility, leachate, planting), and quantitative evaluations can then be conducted for each condition. In doing so, we developed a systematic monitoring method that assesses the dam maintenance condition with grades and scores. The field application of the monitoring method results showed it to provide a more detailed evaluation than existing monitoring methods: the method detected an additional 16 defects missed by conventional methods. The evaluation gave scores of 89.3, 22.2, and 27.8 to the Geumjang mine tailings dam, the Gupoong mine tailings dam, and the Hwachun mine tailings dam, respectively. The advanced method can provide quantitative evaluation and perform detailed monitoring of the dams. This quantitative evaluation can be used to decide on maintenance priorities, select the main management items, and establish schedules of maintenance.

this is the study of the human body antenna device which can detect the powder in a 360-degree on(under) the ground whether it is metal or nonmetal using superhigh frequency RF beam equipped with the body. and it is able to transmit the data of the detection of the powder, battle combats can share that among them. with its flexible roof radial antenna structure, it emits the superhigh frequency RF beam to the front and flank multiply, preprocesses through the powder preprocessing part. and with the non-linear regression model algorism engine part, reflecting the attenuation characteristics depend on the delayed time of degree of the signal power which is received to the superhigh frequency RF beam. so it is able to detect the signal of the most likely mine or powder based on the degree of the answer signal power according to the delayed time of the superhigh frequency RF beam. also, it can detect the powder whether it is metal or nonmetal, mine, dud, VBIED. it can increase the chance of detection about 90% more than existing mine detector.
To asses the stability of structure around shaft during the excavation of -300 ml hopper room at 2nd shaft in Jangsung mine, some measurements were made with blast monitoring, stressmeter, extensometer and inclinometers. Instrumentations proved to be reliable and data were montiored over six month period. Stressmeters were set at the points of wall and arch of inset gang(level). Induced stresses were measured with the magnitude of 2.81 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$(tensile stress) and -4.45kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$(compressive stress) respectively. These values were converged after two months. The magnitude of axial force in rock bolt was measured with 1.98 ton between the points of M2(2.25m) and M3(1.5 m) but this value was assumed within allowable level. Maximum displacement was also measured with 2 mm at the dephs of 12m from surface. But this value belongs within guide level.
The electrorheological (ER) behavior of amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension in silicone oil is investigated. Amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension shows a typical ER response (Bingham flow behavior) upon application of an electric field due to the polarizability of phosphoryl polar group. The shear stress for the suspension exhibits a linear dependence on an electric field power of 1.94. The values of structure factors $A_s$obtains 2 far mine coated chitosan phosphate suspension and it may be due to the formation of multiple chains upon application of the electric field. Throughtout the experimental results, amino coated chitosan phosphate suspension shows good dispersion stability and found to be an anhydrous ER fluid.
The stability of the roof rock-coal pillar-floor rock composite structure is of great significance to coal mine safety production. The cracks existing in the composite structure seriously affect the stability of the roof rock-coal pillar-floor rock composite structure. The numerical simulation tests of rock-coal-rock composite structures with different crack characteristics were carried out to reveal the composite structures' mechanical properties and failure mechanisms. The test results show that the rock-coal-rock composite structure's peak stress and elastic modulus are directly proportional to the crack angle and inversely proportional to the crack length. The smaller the crack angle, the more branch cracks produced near the main control crack in the rock-coal-rock composite structure, and the larger the angle between the main control crack and the crack. The smaller the crack length, the larger the width of the crack zone. The impact energy index of the rock-coal-rock composite structure decreases first and then increases with the increase of crack length and increases with the increase of crack angle. The functional relationships between the different crack characteristics, peak stress, and impact energy index are determined based on the sensitivity analysis. The determination of the functional relationship can fully grasp the influence of the crack angle and the crack length on the peak stress and impact energy index of the coal-rock composite structure. The research results can provide a theoretical basis and guidance for preventing the instability and failure of the coal pillar-roof composite structure.
The applications of water jet cutting (WJC) in coal mine have progressed slowly. In this paper, we analyzed the possibility and reasonableness of WJC application to pressure relief in hard coal seam, simulated the distributive characteristics of stress and energy fields suffered by hard coal roadway wallrock and the internal relationships of the fields to the instability due to WJC (including horizontal radial slot and vertical annular slot) on roadway wallrock. The results showed that: (1) WJC can unload hard coal seam effectively by inducing stress release and energy dissipation in coal mass near its slots; its annular slots also can block or weaken stress and energy transfer in coal mass; (2) the two slots may cause "the beam structure" and "the small pillar skeleton", and "the layered energy reservoir structure", respectively, which lead to the increase in stress concentration and energy accumulation in coal element mass near the slots; (3) the reasonable design and optimization of slots' positions and their combination not only can significantly reduce the scope of stress concentration and energy accumulation, but also destroy coal mass structure on a larger scale to force stress to transfer deeper coal mass.
Four strains of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans with different iron oxidation capacity were isolated from different mine drainage stations. The 16S rRNA gene of these strains were cloned and sequenced. Based on our sequences analysis on the four strain and the data on the other strains deposited in Genbank, all A. ferrooxidans may be classified into three phylogenetic groups. The analysis data showed that nucleotide variables (signature sites) were detected in 21 positions, and most of them were found in the first 800bp from 5' terminal except position 970 and 1375. Interestingly, the first 13 signature sites were located in two main regions:the first region (position 175-234) located in V2 while the second region (position 390-439) were detected in constant region between V2 and V3. Furthermore, the secondary structure and minimal free energy were determined in two regions among strains of three groups. These results may be useful in characterizing the microevolutionary mechanisms of species formation and monitoring in biohydrometallurgical application.
In this study, an adsorbent prepared by natural drying of iron hydroxide-based sludge collected from settling basin at a mine drainage treatment facility located in Gangneung, Gangwon-do was used to remove fluoride in an artificial fluoride solution and mine drainage, and the adsorption characteristics of the adsorbent were investigated. As a result of analyzing the chemical composition, mineralogical properties, and specific surface area of the adsorbent used in the experiment, iron oxide (Fe2O3) occupies 79.2 wt.% as the main constituent, and a peak related to calcite (CaCO3) in the crystal structure analysis was analyzed. It was also identified that an irregular surface and a specific surface area of 216.78 m2·g-1. In the indoor batch-type experiment, the effect of changes in reaction time, pH, initial fluoride concentration and temperature on the change in adsorption amount was analyzed. The adsorption of fluoride showed an adsorption amount of 3.85 mg·g-1 16 hours after the start of the reaction, and the increase rate of the adsorption amount gradually decreased. Also, as the pH increased, the amount of fluoride adsorption decreased, and in particular, the amount of fluoride adsorption decreased rapidly around pH 5.5, the point of zero charge at which the surface charge of the adsorbent changes. Meanwhile, the results of the isotherm adsorption experiment were applied to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm adsorption models to infer the fluoride adsorption mechanism of the used adsorbent. To understand the thermodynamic properties of the adsorbent using the Van't Hoff equation, thermodynamic constants 𝚫H° and 𝚫G° were calculated using the adsorption amount information obtained by increasing the temperature from 25℃ to 65℃ to determine the adsorption characteristics of the adsorbent. Finally, the adsorbent was applied to the mine drainage having a fluoride concentration of about 12.8 mg·L-1, and the fluoride removal rate was about 50%.
The Rietveld structure refinement for the natural trioctahedral mica, phlogopite-1M (Parker Mine, Quebec, Canada) has been done by high resolution neutron powder diffraction at $25^{\circ}C$ and -263$^{\circ}C$. The structural formula of phlogopite determined by electron probe microanalysis is $K_2$(M $g_{4.46}$F $e_{0.83}$A $l_{0.34}$$Ti_{0.22}$)(S $i_{5.51}$A $l_{2.49}$) $O_{20}$(O $H_{3.59}$$F_{0.41}$). Cell parameters are a=5.30∼5.31 $\AA$, b=9.18∼9.20 $\AA$, c=10.18∼10.21 $\AA$, $\beta$=100.06∼100.08$^{\circ}$. Refinements converged to R values in the range of $R_{p}$=2.35%, $R_{wp}$=3.01%, respectively. In this study, the OH bond length is calculated to 0.93 $\AA$ at room temperature and 1.03 $\AA$ at -263$^{\circ}C$, and the angles between OH vector and (001) plane are obtained 93.4$^{\circ}$∼93.6$^{\circ}$. The decrease in the length of OH with the increase in temperature should be due to the hydrogen bonding in the structure of phogopite.e.e.f phogopite.e.e.
The Fe-component of pyrophyllite is an impurity that reduces its grade in the final product. In order to identify the amount of impurity in pyrophyllite and to remove the Fe from the ore using a dry method, microwave heating and magnetic separation were carried out. Pyrite and hematite were identified to contain pyrophyllite by microscopy, XRD, XRF, SEM/EDS and EPMA analysis. It is suggested that the euhedral pyrite in the pyrophyllite is formed by hydrothermal solution, and then the dissolution cavity structure is formed with a partial remainder of the pyrite which dissolved in acidic water. And the $Fe^{3+}$ ion contained in the acidic water precipitated out in the concentric structure of hematite as the origin of sedimentary structure. As a result of the microwave heating and magnetic separation experiments, the Fe removal rates obtained were 96% and 93% from pyrophyllite ore from the Sunsan mine and Wando mine, respectively. It is confirmed that the microwave heating and magnetic separation method was an environmentally friendly method to upgrade the low-grade pyrophyllite.
