식물의 납과 아연의 내성에 관한 유전현상 (Genetic phenomena for the pb and zu tolerance in plants)

  • Pb, Zn tolerance of phaseolus multiflorus was investigated, based on the elongation of root and stem, pollen Germination and progeny quality in various pb, zn concentrations. The result obtained by water culture showed that the growth of roots and steams of phaseolus multiflorus from pb-zn mine site is less inhivited than that of the control site. The flower of phaseolus multiflorus from which pollen was taken were grown without added pb, zn and percent germination of pollen observed in a range of pb, zn concentrations. The percent germination of pollen from pb-zn mine site was higher than the control site. phaseolus multiflorus collected at a pb-zn mine site and the control site was site were grown at different pb, zn concentrations, its progeny was retreated with same concentrations of pb-zn mine site was more vigorous than the control site. thus, pb-zn tolerance was able to expressed in both pollen and sporophytes.

휴/폐광 금은광산 주변의 토양오염조사와 복구시스템 연구 (Investigation on soil contamination and its remediation system in the vicinity of abandoned Au-Ag mine in Korea)

  • The objectives of this study are to investigate soil contamination in the vicinity of abandoned Au-Ag mine and to apply a remediation technique of liming to tailings. In the study area of the Imcheon Au-Ag mine, soils were sampled in and around the mine the analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry extracted by both 0.1N HCl and aqua regia. Elevated levels of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn concentrations extracted by 0.1N HCl were found in soils taken from tailings site. These high contents directly influenced metal concentrations in soils taken in the vicinity of the site. This is mainly due to clastic movement by wind and effluent of mine waste water. In addition, relatively enriched concentrations of the metals were found in soils extrated by aqua regia due to strong decomposition of the samples compared with 0.1N HCl extration. According to the statistical approach, metal concentrations in soils by 0.1N HCl had a positive correlation with those by aqua regia extraction. Mine waste waters and stream waters were also sampled around the mine in spring and summer and analyzed by AAS for Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn, and by Ion Chromatography for anions. Like soils developed over tailings, significant levels of metals and sulphates were found in the mine waste waters ranging of 0.2~0.3, 0.5~2.0, 0.2~2.8, 30~50 and 1,240~4,700 mg/l of Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn and $SO_4^{2-}$, respectively. These elevated levels influenced in the stream waters in the vicinity of the tailings site. In seasonal variation of metal and anion contents, relatively high levels were found in waters sampled on summer due to leaching the metals and anions from tailings by rain. This study also examined the possibility of lime treatment for remediation of acid mine tailings and assumed to be 46 tones of pulverized lime for neutralization of the tailings.

  • Mine drainage from coal mines is mostly acidic, polluted and/or contaminated, even if its quantity has increased substantially during recent days. This causes two kinds of problems arising at mining districts; one is the environmental disruption and the other is insufficient water supply for living, employee's bathing and industrial purposes. In order to mitigate the aforementioned problems, a specific equipment of Korea type for mine drainage purification has been developed and its prototype manufactured, followed by its applicability tests implemented at mine site. The results of the tests indicates that the new equipment developed is much lower than and economical compared to, other existing neutralization facilities at home and abroad in capital investment at installation stage, the consumption of neutralizing chemicals at operation stage and the requirements of installation site. Whangji area where the prototype water treatment equipment is installed has been sustaining a short supply of usable water, especially in dry seasons and supplementing about 40㎥ of water brought from a location farther than 4km in distance to meet water requirements. The prototype water treatment equipment is however considered capable of providing compressor cooling water in sufficient amount from winter season In the future.

훼손된 생태계의 복원을 통한 생태계 서비스의 회복: 채탄쓰레기 매립지 복원지의 사례 (Recovery of Ecosystem Service Functions through Ecological Restoration Practice: A Case Study of Coal Mine Spoils, Samcheok, Central Eastern Korea)

  • Ecological restoration is regarded as a major strategy for preventing biodiversity loss and thereby enhancing ecosystem service. This study was performed to evaluate ecosystem service value that the restored ecosystem provides. Ecosystem service was evaluated for provisioning and regulating services. The former service was evaluated by comparing similarities in a viewpoint of floristic composition to the reference site between the restored and the unrestored sites. Species composition of the restored site was found to be more similar to the reference site than that of the unrestored site and thereby restoration practice contributed for enhancing the provisioning service. Regulating service was evaluated based on microclimate control, soil amelioration, and improvement of water holding capacity. The value of ecosystem services in terms of microclimate control, soil amelioration, and improvement of water holding capacity was higher in the restored site than in the unrestored site. In consequence, ecological restoration of coal mine spoils contributed for enhancing the ecosystem service value of the corresponding site and thereby is rewarding the cost invested for restoration.

  • 폐탄광 지역에서의 광해문제 해결과 재개발 및 경제활성화를 위해서 폐탄광 관련정보들을 체계적으로 관리 ·분석하는 폐탄광GIS의 구축이 요구되고 있다 국내외 사례분석을 통하여 기본개념을 구상했으며, 이를 바탕으로 삼척시 고사리 지역을 대상으로 시범시스템을 구축하였다. 시범시스템 구축을 통해 가장 합리적인 구축방법을 도출하고, 시범시스템 과정에서 도출된 문제점을 분석하여 항후 폐탄광GIS 구축사업의 향후 추진방안과 일정을 제시하였다.

동명 금-은 광산 주변의 중금속 오염 (Contamination of Heavy Metals from Dongmyeong Au-Ag Mine Area)

  • 동명광산을 경유하는 수계의 pH는 5.9∼7.1의 변화를 보여 약산성 내지는 중성의 환경을 보인다. 하천수 중 중금속 원소함량의 분포는 자원소의 지구화학적 특성에 따라 다양한 분포 양상을 보이나 전반적으로 폐광산 주변에서 증가하는 경향을 보인다. 동명광산 지역의 광미, 폐석적치장토양, 농경지토양에 대한 성분분석 결과 농경지토양에는 중금속의 총 농토가 광미나 폐석적치장의 토양보다 훨씬 낮았을 뿐 아니라 총 중금속 농도 중 adsorbed, carbonate, reducible fraction들이 차지하는 비율이 낮아 이들이 농작물이나 주변 수계에 큰 영향을 미치지 못할 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 하천수중 중금속 원소함량 분포가 전반적으로 광산지역에서 증가하는 경향을 보이며, 광미나 폐석적치장 토양에서도 중금속의 총 농도가 매우 높았을 뿐 아니라 adsorbed, carbonate, reducible fractions들이 차지하는 비율이 농경지 보다 상대적으로 높았기 때문에 이들이 유실되거나 또는 산성우, 산성인 광산폐수의 유입 등으로 인해 화학적 환경변화가 발생할 경우 중금속 오염의 확산이 우려되므로 이에 대한 오염방지대책이 필요하다고 생각된다.

철광산 지역에서의 물리탐사 기술 적용 연구 (A Geophysical Survey of an Iron Mine Site)

  • 철광산 지역의 매장량 평가를 위해 전기 및 전자탐사 방식의 물리탐사를 수행하였다. 철광산 조사에 적합한 물리탐사 기법을 결정하고 연구지역의 지질정보에 대해 파악하기 위해, 대상 지역의 시추 코어와 노두 파편으로부터 획득한 암석 코어를 분석하였다. 획득한 코어에 대해 비중, 밀도, 공극률, 비저항, P파 속도 등 5가지 물성을 측정한 결과, 자철광체가 전기적 특성에 민감하게 반응한다는 것을 확인하고 전기 탐사를 수행하기로 결정하였다. 전기비저항 탐사는 기존의 연구들을 통해서 적용 기법들이 다양하고 해상도 또한 높은 편이 알려져 있어 철광산의 조사에 적합할 것으로 판단되었으나, 심부에서는 해상도가 낮으며 탐사의 수행도 어렵다는 한계를 가지고 있다. 이에 전기비저항 탐사를 보완하기 위해 물리탐사법 중 비교적 깊은 탐사심도를 가지는 MT (MagnetoTelluric) 탐사를 추가적으로 수행하였다. 또한 MT 탐사의 천부 정보에 대한 취약성을 보완하기 위해 인공송신원을 사용하는 CSMT (Controlled Source MT) 탐사를 추가적으로 실시하였다. 전기 및 전자탐사를 통해 채광이 이루어진 광산 하부에 저비저항체가 있음을 발견하였으며, 향후 추가적인 이용 가치를 확인하였다.

Acidophilic Bacterial Communities of Soil and Enrichment Cultures from Two Abandoned Mine Sites of the Korean Peninsula

  • Bacterial diversity based on the denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis of PCR-amplified 16S rRNA gene sequences was determined for soil samples from two abandoned mine sites and the corresponding enrichment cultures using soil sample as key inoculum. Sequencing analysis of DGGE bands obtained from both the soil samples matched mostly with sequences of uncultured and newly described organisms, or organisms recently associated with the acid mine drainage environment. However, the enrichment of soil samples in ferrous sulfate and elemental sulfur media yielded sequences that were consistent with well-known iron- and sulfur-oxidizing acidophilic bacteria. Analysis of enrichment cultures of soil samples from Dalsung mine revealed abundant ${\gamma}$-$Proteobacteria$, whereas that of Gubong mine sample displayed acidophilic groups of ${\gamma}$-$Proteobacteria$, ${\alpha}$-$Proteobacteria$, $Actinobacteria$ and $Firmicutes$. Chemical elemental analysis of the mine samples indicated that the Dalsung site contained more iron and sulfate along with other toxic components as compared with those of the Gubong site. Biogeochemistry was believed to be the primary control on the acidophilic bacterial group in the enrichment samples.

폐광지 분포 식물 낙엽의 분해에 미치는 중금속의 영향 (The Effect of Heavy Metal Content on the Decomposition of Plant Litter in the Abandoned Mine)

  • 본 연구는 중금속이 낙엽의 분해에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 충남 청양의 폐금광의 광미에 분포하는 쑥(Artemisia princeps var. orientalis)과 쇠뜨기(Equisetum arvense)를 이용하여 실험하였다. 광미는 높은 중금속 함량과 낮은 유기물 함량을 가지고 있었다. 광미의 중금속 함량은 대조구 토양에 비해 비소(As)는 약 13배, 카드뮴(Cd)은 약 28배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 크롬(Cr), 니켈(Ni) 및 아연(Zn)은 약 3배에서 6배 높게 측정되었다. 광미와 대조구 토양에서 채집한 식물체내의 중금속 함량은 광미에서 채집한 식물에서 현저히 높게 나타났으며, 쑥 잎의 경우 As는 약 23배, Cd은 25배 높게 나타났으며, 쇠뜨기 지상부의 경우 As는 58배, Cd은 11배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 대조구에서 분해 결과 중금속 농도가 높은 쑥의 잎과 대조구에서 채취한 잎이 각각 50.4%, 65.7%가 분해되었다. 또한 광미에서 진행된 분해 결과 쑥의 잎은 폐광지역에서 채취한 잎과 대조구에서 채취한 잎이 각각 31.6%, 57.5%가 분해되었다. 쑥의 줄기의 분해결과도 잎의 분해율과 비슷한 양상을 나타내었다. 쇠뜨기의 지상부의 분해는 대조구에서 분해된 결과 광미에서 채집된 쇠뜨기와 대조구에서 채집한 쇠뜨기가 각각 77.8%와 89.3%가 분해되었으며, 광미지역에서 분해 결과 각각 67.6%와 82.1%가 분해된 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 광미에서 생육하는 식물체의 중금속의 함량이 높을수록 분해가 느린 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 중금속이 낙엽의 분해에 영향을 미친 것이라고 판단된다.

Study for Phytostabilization using Soil Amendment and Aster koraiensis Nakai in Heavy Metal Contaminated Soil of Abandoned Metal Mine

  • The objectives of this study were to select optimal soil amendments through analysis of heavy metal availability in soil and uptake to Aster koraiensis Nakai for forest rehabilitation of heavy metal contaminated soil of abandoned metal mine. A. koraiensis was cultivated for 6 months at contaminated soil with several soil treatments (bottom ash 1 and 2%, fly ash 1 and 2%, waste lime+oyster 1 and 2%, Acid mine drainage sludge (AMDS) 10 and 20%, compost 3.4%, non-contaminated natural forest soil, and control). The analysis results of heavy metal concentrations in the soil by Mehlich-3 mehthod, growth and heavy metal concentrations of A. koraiensis showed that waste oyster+lime 1% and compost were more effective than the other amendments for phytostabilization. However, it is needed comprehensive review of factors such as on-site condition, slope covering to reduce soil erosion and vegetation introduction from surround forest for revegetation to apply forest rehabilitation.
