The Effect of Goroshoe (Acer mono Max.) Seed Oil, and Magnolia denudata Seed Oil on the Lipid Profile in Serum in Mice (고로쇠나무(Acer mono Max.) 씨앗 기름과 목련나무(Magnolia denudata) 씨앗 기름의 섭취가 마우스의 혈중 지질 수준에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effects of intake of Acer mono Max. seed oil, and Magnolia denudata seed oil on the lipid levels of mouse blood were compared to those of commercially available vegetable oils. Five ICR mice were each fed a corn oil, Acer mono Max. seed oil, and Magnolia denudata seed oil supplemented diet for a total of 8 weeks. The serum profiles of mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil and Magnolia denudata seed oil were high in palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. The saturated fatty acid contents of mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil and Magnolia denudata seed oil were 3.95% and 0.88%, whereas the unsaturated fatty acid contents were 8.71% and 4.60%, respectively. The liver and spleen weights of mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil were higher than those fed corn oil (p<0.05). Total cholesterol level was highest in mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil (p<0.05), whereas there were no significant changes in the cholesterol levels of mice fed Magnolia denudata seed oil and corn oil. The HDL-cholesterol levels in mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil ($175.80{\pm}27.66mg/d{\ell}$) and in those fed Magnolia denudata seed oil ($145.20{\pm}19.10mg/d{\ell}$) were higher compared to those of mice fed corn oil (p<0.05). In conclusion, there were no significant differences in fatty acid composition between mice fed Acer mono Max. seed oil and Magnolia denudata seed oil. Future study on the antioxidant effects of seed oils should be carried out.

Bioequivalence of Loxipen Tablet to Loxonin Tablet (Sodium Loxoprofen Anhydride 60 mg) (록소닌 정(록소프로펜 나트륨 무수물 60 mg)에 대한 록시펜 정의 생물학적 동등성)

  • A bioequivalence study of the Loxipen tablets (Dae Wha Pharmaceutical Co., Korea) to the Loxonin tablets (Dong Hwa Pharmaceutical Co., Korea), formulations of sodium loxoprofen anhydrous 60 mg, was conducted. Sixteen healthy Korean male subjects received each formulation at the dose of 60 mg as sodium loxoprofen anhydrous in a $2{\times}2$ crossover study. There was a 2-week washout period between the dose. Plasma concentrations of loxoprofen were monitored by an HPLC method for over a period of 6 h after each administration. AUC (area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time zero to infinity) was calculated by the linear trapezoidal and extrapolation method. $C_{max}$ (maximum plasma drug concentration) and $T_{max}$ $(time\;to\;reach\;C_{max})$ were compiled from the plasma drug concentration-time data. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that there are no differences in AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ between the formulations. The apparent differences between the formulations in these parameters were all far less than 20% (i.e., 5.88, 7.81 and 6.09% for AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$, respectively). Minimum detectable differences (%) at ${\alpha}=0.1$ and $1-{\beta}=0.8$ were all less than 20% difference in these parameters between the formulations were all over 0.8 (i.e., 15.81, 13.13 and 19.85 for AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$, respectively). The 90% confidence intervals for these parameters were also within ${\pm}20%$ (i.e., $-16.52{\sim}4.77$, $-16.65{\sim}1,02$ and $-19.45{\sim}7.28%$ for AUC, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$, respectively). These results satisfy the bioequivalence criteria of the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) guidelines (No. 98-51). Therefore, these results indicate that the 2 formulations of loxoprofen are bioequivalent and, thus, may be prescribed interchangeably.

The Influence of Surface Treatments on Shear Bond Strength between Zirconia Core and Heat Press Ceramic Interface (지르코니아 코어의 표면처리방법이 열 가압 세라믹과의 전단결합강도에 미치는 영향)

  • All-ceramic restorations have gained acceptance among clinicians and patients because of their superior esthetics. Most all-ceramic systems have a 2-layer structure, using a weak veneering ceramic over a strong supporting core. often, failure of all-ceramic restorations occurs when the veneering ceramic fractures, exposing the core material. The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strength of heat press ceramic system (Zirpress) to zirconia core with various surface treatments. 10 metal cores and 50 zirconia cores were fabricated and divided into six groups according to surface treatment such as Zirliner application, aluminium oxide blasting, and 9.5% HF etching. Sixty specimens were prepared using Zirpress, veneered 8mm height and 3mm in diameter, over the zirconia cores (n=10). The shear bond strength test was performed in a universal testing machine with a crosshead speed of 1/min. Ultimate shear bond strength data were analyzed with One-way ANOVA and the Scheffe's test (p=.05). Within the limits of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: The mean shear bond strengths (MPa) were: 12.93 for $110{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide blasting/Rexillium III/IPS e.Max Zirpress; 14.92 for $50{\mu}m$ aluminium oxide blasting ${\pm}9.5%$ HF etching/Zirconis core/IPS e.Max Zirpress; 16.37 for $110{\mu}$ aluminium oxide blasting + 9.5% HF etching/Zirconis core/IPS e.Max Zirpress; 12.89 for $200{\mu}$ aluminium oxide blasting + 9.5% HF etching/Zirconis core/IPS e.Max Zirpress; 19.30 for 9.5% HF etching/Zirconis core/IPS e.Max Zirpress; 19.55 for Zirliner/Zirconis core/IPS e.Max Zirpress. The mean shear bond strength for ZNTZH (Zirliner/Zirconis core) and ZNTEH (9.5% HF etching/Zirconis core) were significantly superior to MS110H ($110{\mu}$ aluminium oxide blasting/Rexillium III) and ZS200EH ($200{\mu}$ aluminium oxide blasting + 9.5% HF etching/Zirconis core) (p<0.05).

Effects of 2-Chloro-3-( 4-cyanophenylamino )-1,4-naphthoquinone( NQ-Y15 ) on Normal and Ischemical/reperfused Rat Hearts (정상 및 허혈/재관류 흰쥐 심장에 대한 2-클로로-3-(4-시아노페닐아미노 )-1,4-나프토퀴논 ( NQ-Y15 )의 작용)

  • Studies on the effect of quinones on cardiac function has been conducted with normal hearts. But not with injured hearts, I.e. ischemia/reperfusion-injured heart. Quinone compounds are known to produce oxygen free radicals during metabolism, and for this reason, quinones are implicated in the aggravation of ischemia/reperfusion injury or cardioprotection, as in the case of ischemic preconditioning depending on the experimental conditions. The present study was carried out to examine the effect of 2-chloro-3-(4-cyanophenylamino)-1.4-naphthoquinone (NQ-Y15) on cardiac function of ischemic/reperfused and normal rat hearts. In isolated perfused hearts, various functional parameters such as left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (EDP) and maximum positive and negative dP/dt ($[\pm}dP/dt_{max}$), time to contracture, heart rate (HR) and coronary flow rate (CFR) were measured before and 30 min after dosing and following 25 min ischemia/30min reperfusion. NQ-Y15 increased LVDP, +dP/$d_{max}$and -dP/$dt_{min}$ by 18%. 30%, and 40%, respectively. There were no significant changes in other haemodynamic parameters. After ischemia/reperfusion injury, pretreatment with NQ-Y15 induced a significant decrease in LVDP and $[\pm}dP/dt_{max}$, but an increase in EDP. LDH-release was not significantly increased. These results suggested that NQ-Y15 may augment the ventricular contractility but it makes hearts more vulnerable to ischemia/reperfusion injury.

  • Recently, filtering methods for attenuating noise while preserving image details are in progress actively. And SM(standard median) fille. showed a great performance for noise removal in impulse noise environment but, it caused edge cancellation error So, variable methods that modified SM(standard median)filter have been proposed, and CWM(center weighted median) filter is representative. Also, there are several methods to improve the efficiency based on min/max operation in term of preserving detail and filtering speed. In this paper, we managed a pixel corrupted by impulsive noise using min/max value of the surrounding band enclosing a pixel, and compared the efficiency with exiting methods in the simulation.

Investigation for Shoulder Kinematics Using Depth Sensor-Based Motion Analysis System (깊이 센서 기반 모션 분석 시스템을 사용한 어깨 운동학 조사)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the motion of the shoulder joint dynamically through a depth sensor-based motion analysis system for the normal group and patients group with shoulder disease and to report the results along with a review of the relevant literature. Materials and Methods: Seventy subjects participated in the study and were categorized as follows: 30 subjects in the normal group and 40 subjects in the group of patients with shoulder disease. The patients with shoulder disease were subdivided into the following four disease groups: adhesive capsulitis, impingement syndrome, rotator cuff tear, and cuff tear arthropathy. Repeating abduction and adduction three times, the angle over time was measured using a depth sensor-based motion analysis system. The maximum abduction angle (θmax), the maximum abduction angular velocity (ωmax), the maximum adduction angular velocity (ωmin), and the abduction/adduction time ratio (tabd/tadd) were calculated. The above parameters in the 30 subjects in the normal group and 40 subjects in the patients group were compared. In addition, the 30 subjects in the normal group and each subgroup (10 patients each) according to the four disease groups, giving a total of five groups, were compared. Results: Compared to the normal group, the maximum abduction angle (θmax), the maximum abduction angular velocity (ωmax), and the maximum adduction angular velocity (ωmin) were lower, and abduction/adduction time ratio (tabd/tadd) was higher in the patients with shoulder disease. A comparison of the subdivided disease groups revealed a lower maximum abduction angle (θmax) and the maximum abduction angular velocity (ωmax) in the adhesive capsulitis and cuff tear arthropathy groups than the normal group. In addition, the abduction/adduction time ratio (tabd/tadd) was higher in the adhesive capsulitis group, rotator cuff tear group, and cuff tear arthropathy group than in the normal group. Conclusion: Through an evaluation of the shoulder joint using the depth sensor-based motion analysis system, it was possible to measure the range of motion, and the dynamic motion parameter, such as angular velocity. These results show that accurate evaluations of the function of the shoulder joint and an in-depth understanding of shoulder diseases are possible.

  • As well known, a solar cell has an optimal operating point to be able to get the maximum power $P_{max}$. So, many $P_{max}$ tracking controllers using the line voltage of a solar cell have been popularly used. But it may vary depending on the miss match between the solar cell output and the load. In this paper, we investigate the possibilities of $P_{max}$ control using the current tracking controller and the output voltage and the output current instead of the solar cell output power. And we also examine about the optimal power converter using ZVCS step up and down chopper circuit to operate the solar cell at an optimal voltage using these variables. And then, we show some experimental results to confirm the successful operation.

  • This paper describes a development of high speed fuzzy inference circuit for the industrialprocesses. The hardware fuzzy inference circuit is developed utilizing a hardware fuzzy inference circuit is developed utilizing a DSP and a multiplier and accumulator chip. To enhance the inference speed, the pipeline disign is adopted at the bottleneck and the general Max-Min inference method is slightly modified as Max-max method. As a results, the inference speed is evaluated to be 100 KFLIPS. Owing to this high speed feature, satisfactory application can be attained for complex high speed motion control as well as the control of multi-input multi-output nonlinear system. As an application, the developed fuzzy inference circuit is embedded to a PLC (Porgrammable Logic Controller) for industrial process control. For the fuzzy PLC system, to fascilitate the design of the fuzzy control knowledge such as membership functions, rules, etc., a MS-Windows based GUI (Graphical User Interface) software is developed.

  • Metanolic root extract of Glycine max (L.) Merr. was chromatographed, affording three triterpenoids 1-3. The compound 3 was isolated from microorganism called Fusarium sporotrichioides but never been isolated from any plant sources. Compounds 1-3 showed cytotoxic activity against HT-59 human cancer cell line with $IC_{50}$ values of 62.9, 20.0, and $44.2{\mu}M$, respectively. Compound 3 showed significant activities against Gram-positive bacterial such as Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcs aureus.
