  • This research seeks to examine the relationship between multicultural education experiences and the multicultural acceptability of military officers. The sample included 552 Republic of Korea Army officers and non-commissioned officers(NCOs) who were located in Gangwon-Do and Gyeonggi-Do. For the statistical analysis, SPSS 18.0 was used to perform descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, differential verification, and multiple regression analysis. The major analysis results are as follows: First, The multicultural acceptability of the military officers and NCOs, including sub-factors, was above the mean level; in terms of the ranking per sub-factor, the scores were in the order of diversity, relationship, and universality. The experience frequency of the targets and the evaluation was lowest in the educational experience within the military, and the evaluations were in the order of public media, school, and military. Second, The differential verification, depending on the characteristics of the sociology of the population and the existence of the multicultural educational experience, showed that the duration of education(personal factor), marital status(family factor), existence of a foreign relative(family factor), and existence of experience of managing multicultural personnel as soldiers under command(military-related factor) showed a significant difference in multicultural acceptability. Additionally, the existence of multicultural education through schools and public media lead to a significant difference in multicultural acceptability, but the existence of education within the military did not lead to a significant difference. Third, The analysis of the influencing relationship through multiple regression analysis showed that the higher the evaluation of multicultural education through the military, school, and public media, the higher the multicultural acceptability. Therefore, this research proposes multicultural educational plans that may improve the multicultural acceptability of military officers and NCOs as a way to establish a multicultural composition in the army.

For such a purpose, this study identifies the difficulties which married nurse officers have faced and the necessary services which are supposed to alleviate them. The data were collected by sending a questionnaire to 114 married nurse officers from July 16 to August 10, 2001. The results of this study are as follows: First, the married nurse officers were relatively dissatisfied with such domains as child care and education, health, and housing. And among the thirty-four problems, the married nurse officers expressed the most serious dissatisfaction with the difficulty in attending the events held in child's school, lack of children's dormitory run by the military, difficulty in adjusting to the school due to frequent house-moving, and limited access to dental care. Second, the married nurse officers needed services in domains such as housing, child care and education, and health. Specifically, they wanted the military-run housing, child care facility within military hospitals, maternity leave for child care and education, extension of risk allowances, and support for BOQ. Third, with regard to the seriousness of problems as well as the priority of services, the married nurse officers gave higher priority to such domains as child care and education, health, and housing. These results indicate that married nurse officers were to the largest extent concerned with these three domains and that they had the urgent need for services relevant to those domains. The importance of routine need assessments as well as solutions to the family-related problems for married nurse officers is therefore suggested in this study.

Data were collected with a self-administered survey distributed to 480 professional soldiers after the approval of the Ministry of National Defense. The analysis results show that the family healthiness of all of the professional soldiers had direct or indirect effects on their organizational effectiveness via empowerment and that family healthiness was a variable with a very large explanatory power for organizational effectiveness. Both family healthiness and empowerment had effects on the organizational effectiveness of the solders that were living with their families and those who lived separately from their families. The levels of family healthiness, empowerment, and organizational effectiveness were all high among the professional soldiers that were living with their families and all low among those who were not. Increasing the family healthiness and empowerment was found to enhance the organizational effectiveness in all of the models, and a higher organizational effectiveness would be expected from professional soldiers living with their families. These findings led to a proposal that various plans should be prepared to help professional soldiers live with their families and provide them with family welfare support.

  • An increase in interests in consumers' social responsibilities, or ethical spending, starts from a recognition that the consumption of an individual does not stop with the individual, but also affects overall society. The recognition of consumers' social responsibilities leads to demands for corporate social responsibility. Therefore, this study analyzed how social responsibility recognition affects consumers' needs for corporate social responsibility using college students. All data was analyzed with the SPSS Windows 18.0 program in terms of frequency, Crobach's ${\alpha}$, factor analyses, paired t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression. The results are as following: first, the recognition level of consumers' social responsibilities in college students was at an average level and the consumer's needs for corporate social responsibility were higher than usual. Second, the grade level, military experience, and economic status of the college students changed their views on consumers' needs for corporate social responsibility. Groups with higher consumers' social responsibilities had higher consumer demands for corporate social responsibility. Through this, we can see that consumers' social responsibilities affects the consumer's needs for corporate social responsibility.
