여자 중$\cdot$고등학교학생의 의복 선호도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Middle and High School Girls' Tendencies in Selecting Clothes)

  • This treatise deals with teen-agers' tendencies in selecting clothes, upon the recent liberalization measures of dress restriction. in regard to girl students' uniforms inmiddle and high schools, effective 1983. Results of my poll of 430 inquirees on the subject is outlined as follows; The surveyees have a preference for wearing box-style upper garments with a round-neck line and ribbon/tie collar. They also prefer to wear shirt cuffs mainly in set-in sleeve style. A straight skirt silhouetting the body line is anticipated to be longer in length than the knee line by 2 or 3 cm's. A dressy or sporty look would be most welcome, too. The ensemble of blue jeans and T-shirt blouse would be usual wear during school attendance. The reason why they like to choose trousers is considered to stem from the unisex look in fashion rather economical and practical purposes. Clothes material tends to be natural fabrics, single-colored and non-patterned. Color needs to be in a subdued mood, tuned with the same color and of neutral tint. In styling, emphasis is to be placed on femininity. In particular, the middle school girls wish to intensify 'Har-mony' in style while the high school misses are concerned with 'Individuality.'

Beverage consumption among Korean adolescents: data from 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Association between the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and obesity is universally a controversial issue. This study was undertaken to examine the beverage consumption pattern of Korean adolescents. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Data was collected from the 2016 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey involving 65,528 adolescent respondents. A list of the most frequently consumed beverages was analyzed, and the consumption frequency of carbonated beverages, SSBs, and energy drinks during the past seven-days was assessed. The main reasons for the adolescents to consume the beverages were also determined. RESULTS: The beverage preference of adolescents were carbonated beverages (31.0%), 'fruit and vegetable beverages (17.7%)', 'milk (13.6%)', and 'coffee (12.7%)'. Carbonated beverages and SSBs were consumed more than three times a week by 27.1% and 41.1% of the respondents, respectively. About 86.2% of adolescents did not take of any energy drinks during the last seven-days. Taste was the most common reason that adolescents considered when choosing a drink. Carbonated beverages consumed more frequently by boys than girls, and high school students drank coffee more frequently than middle school students. CONCLUSIONS: Boys had a higher preference for unhealthy beverages than girls, whereas consumption of high-caffeine drinks was greater amongst high-school students than middle school students.

어머니의 감독(monitoring) 및 감독방법이 청소년의 외현화.내면화 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Maternal Monitoring and Information Sources of Maternal Knowledge on Externalizing and Internalizing Behaviors of Adolescents)

  • The effects of material monitoring and information sources of maternal knowledge on externalizing and internalizing behaviors of adolescents were examined with a sample of 323 ninth-grade middle school students(163 boys and 160 girls) and their mothers. Data were collected using questionnaires regarding maternal monitoring, information sources of maternal knowledge, and externalizing and internalizing behaviors of adolescents. The major findings were that 1) unemployed mothers showed more monitoring than employed mothers; 2) mothers perceived that girls showed more self-disclosure and were more controlled by them than boys; 3) girls showed more internalizing behavior than boys; 4) the more adolescents were monitored by their mothers, the less internalizing behavior they showed; 5) the more maternal solicitation was used, the more externalizing behavior girls showed; 6) adolescents showed the least externalizing behavior when maternal monitoring was highly perceived by both mothers and adolescents. And perception of maternal monitoring by adolescents themselves plays an important role in showing less externalizing behavior.

정서조절 양식과 부모 애착이 청소년의 생활만족에 미치는 영향 (Emotion Regulation Style and Parent Attachment : Effects on Adolescents' Satisfaction with Life)

  • Subjects were 2192 middle and high school students of Seoul and Kyonggi Province. Data, consisting of a self-report questionnaire, were analyzed by two-way ANOVA, univariate F-test and stepwise multiple regression. Findings were that boys showed more avoidance/distraction and active problem solving styles but less support seeking than girls. Older adolescents reported less parent attachment than younger adolescents; girls reported more mother attachment than boys. Older adolescents reported more life satisfaction than younger adolescents; girls reported more life satisfaction than boys. A higher degree of life satisfaction was reported by subjects with more parent attachment, more active problem solving and less avoidance/distraction styles, by younger adolescents, and by girls. Degree of parent attachment was the most powerful predictor of adolescents' satisfaction with life.

중학생의 성별에 따른 스마트폰 과의존 관련요인 (Factors related to Smartphone Overdependence by Gender in Middle School Students)

  • Purpose: This study aims to identify gender-based differences in factors related to smartphone overdependence among middle school students. Methods: The subjects of the study were middle school students who participated in the 16th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Survey (2020). Frequency analysis, the Rao-Scott χ2 test, and multiple logistic regression were performed using SPSS 27.0. Results: Identified risk factors were grade level, self-reported health, self-reported happiness, loneliness, smoking, drinking, poor sleep quality, physical activity, and generalized anxiety disorder, which were commonly found in all participants. Additionally, stress was found related only in boys, while the residential area and depression showed associations only in girls. In particular, the more severe was the level of generalized anxiety disorder, the higher was the risk ratio of the high-risk group, compared to the potential-risk group. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, a customized strategy that considers gender differences should be developed in order to prevent smartphone overdependence in middle school students.

불임피술주부(不妊被術主婦)의 가정적(家庭的) 배경(背景)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Family Situation of Sterilized Homemakers)

  • A study was carried out for the evaluation on family situation of 900 homemakers those who had received tubal sterilization operation (laparoscopic and minilaparotomy) at family planning clinic, Seoul Red Cross Hospital from October 1974 to September 1977. The results obtained are as follows: 1) In age distribution, predominant age group consisted of those $31{\sim}35$ years frequency of 43.2% and average age was 33.3 years. 2) Educational level showed that homemakers who finished primary school accounted for 37.3% of the total and those having middle school education comprised 28.7%, and 24.3% of them were high school graduates, 8.3% of them were college graduates. On the other hand, husband's education level showed that, 37.6% of them were high school graduates, 29.7% were college graduates and 19.9% were middle school graduates, therefor, educational level of husbands was one step higher than wives. 3) In the gravidity at the tubal sterilization, the highest incidence(18.4%) among 853cases was the group of gravida 5, and 16.2% gravida 4, and the gravidity ranged $1{\sim}23$. Average gravidity of clients was 6.0. 4) Among the total number of 900 clients, 778cases (91.3%) had no experience of spontanous abortion, history of 1 abortion in 5.9%, 2 abortions in 1.8%, and it showed the decresed incidence of spontanous abortion recently. Average was 0.15. As regarding induced abortion, in spite of only 142 homemakers (16.7%) had no history of induced abortion, 20.5% had experienced 1 induced abortion before sterilization, 17.7% had 2 induced abortions, 14.6% had 3 abortions, 10.3% had 4 abortions, and 0.2% (2cases) had over 20 abortions. Average was 2.7. 5) In regarding to the number of living children, the greatest number (45.0%) of clients had 3 children, and 26.5% 2 children, 19.7% 4 children. Average number of their living children was 3.03. 6) Sex ratio of living children, among 18 clients those had 1 child, 17 homemakers had 1 boy and no girl, 1 homemaker had no boy and 1 girl only. Sex ratio showed that woman who had 2 boys and no girl accounted for 46.3%, however, those having no boy and 2 girls ocmprised only 1. 8% among 229 clients who had 2 children. Among 389 clients who had 3 children, in spite of woman who had 3 boys and no girl comprised 16.5%, but no boy and 3 girls only 1.5%. Among 170 clients who had 4 children, homemakers with 4 boys and no girl accounted for 4.1%, however, no boy and 4 girls 1.8% of the total. Among 52 clients, who had 5 children, woman with 5 boys and no girl comprised 3.9%, no boy and 5 girls 0%. Among 7 cases who had 6 children, there were 3 cases who had 3 boys and 3 girls, but only 1 cases had 1 boy and 5 girls and so on. These results showed a strong trend of male preference in Korea and this could be one of the inhibit factors for family planning.

대구시내 중학생들의 식습관 및 기호에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on the Food habits and Tastes of the Middle School Students in Taegu)

  • 대구시내 남 녀 중학생을 대상으로 식습관 및 식품에 대한 기호도를 질문지를 통해 조사한 결과 간식내용은 과자류가 18.9%로 가장 많았으며 다음이 과일, 과즙, 아이스크림의 순이었고 간식비는 1일 300원미만이 75.5%였다. 간식비와 간식횟수는 가정의 월수입과 어머니의 학력이 높을수록 높았다. 간식 장소는 집과 학교 매점이 약 80%로서 거의가 건전한 장소에서 행해지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 아침 식사의 결식율은 21.8%로서 비교적 높은편이어서 아침 식사가 전체 영양섭취에 미치는 영향을 고려할 때 식습관의 중요한 문제점으로 지적될 수 있었다. 아침 식사의 형태는 94.2%가 밥이었고 이것은 다른 지역에서의 결과보다 높게 나타났다. 영양제 복용에 대해서는 ‘복용한 적이 있다’와 ‘복용하고 있다’가 50.5%로서 대상자의 약 반수가 영양제 복용을 선호하고 있으며 식사시 영양에 대한 고려 정도는 ‘전혀 고려하지 않는다’가 24.0%가 비교적 높아 부모 및 지도자를 통한 영양교육이 필요하다고 본다. 인스턴트식품의 이용에 관한 조사에서 ‘전혀 먹지 않는다’는 2.8% 뿐으로 대부분의 중학생이 인스턴트식품을 이용하고 있었으며 기호경향은 좋아하는 경우가 72.9%였다 식품섭취 상태진단의 조사에서는 식품섭취 내용점수가 평균 8.3으로 양호한 편이었다. 남자보다 여자가, 가정의 월수입과 어머니의 학력이 높을수록 점수가 높았다. 70가지 식품에 대한 기호도를 5단계 척도법으로 집계한 결과 대상자의 기호경향은 ‘ 대단히 좋아한다’가 전체 식품의 37.3%로서 식품에 대한 수용성이 높았다. 식품별 기호도 순위는 남녀 모두 딸기가 가장 높았으며 마늘이 가장 낮았다. 식품군별로는 과일류가 가장 높았고 어패류가 가장 낮았다.

정상체중 청소년의 주관적 체형인식 관련요인 다수준 분석: 2017년 청소년건강행태온라인조사 자료를 중심으로 (Multilevel Analysis of Factors associated with Subjective Weight Perception among Normal Body Weight Adolescents based on the 2017 Korean Youth's Risk Behavior Survey (KYRBS))

  • Purpose: The present study is focused on understanding weight perception related with individual- and school-level multifactorial origins, underestimated and overestimated respectively, in normal body weight adolescents. Methods: Using the 2017 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey data of 45,902 students from 799 secondary schools, a multilevel multinomial logistic regression analysis was performed where adolescents (level1) were nested within schools (level 2). Results: At the school level, the average school body mass index (BMI, $kg/m^2$) and physical education were associated with weight perception among both boys and girls. In boys, geographic areas were associated with weight underestimation. At the individual level, perceived economic status, weekly allowance, BMI ($kg/m^2$), smartphone usage time (hrs/day) and perceived stress were associated with weight perception among both boys and girls. Age, paternal education, academic achievement and alcohol use were associated with weight perception among girls, while part-time job and physical activity were associated with weight perception among boys. Conclusion: Our findings underscore the importance of individual- and school-level environments in developing correct weight perception and have implications for school health education to establish healthy lifestyle behaviors for all adolescents.

잔반량 조사에 의한 창원지역 일부 초.중학교 급식의 영양관리 실태 비교 (Nutrition Management Examined by Plate Waste Measurement - A Comparison with Elementary Schools and Middle Schools in the Changwon Area -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine nutrition management conditions of lunch with the elementary schools and middle schools in the Changwon area. 292 students (5th and 6th graders) from three elementary schools and 330 students from three middle schools (boys, girls, and co-ed) participated in the aggregate selective plate waste measurement for 5 days. Planned menus, serving sizes and plate waste amount data were collected. Nutrient analyses for the planned, served and consumed menus at school lunches were performed by using CAN-PRO 3.0. Nutrient analyses of the planned, served and consumed menus were compared with nutrient management standard (former edition) for school lunch and 1/3 Korean Dietary Reference Intakes (KDRIs). Significant difference was found in the average consumption rate between the elementary schools (82.2%) and the middle schools (71.8%). Specifically, the consumption rates of steamed rice (p < 0.001), side dish 1 (p < 0.001), and Kimchi (p < 0.01) at the middle schools were significantly lower than those of the elementary schools. When the nutrient contents in the served menus were put into percentages to the nutrient contents in the planned menus, middle schools (92.3%) showed bigger serving loss than the elementary schools (95.4%). In the nutrient assessment comparied with nutrient management standard (former edition), middle school lunches showed comparatively less energy or less some nutrient contents against the standard than the elementary school lunches. Specifically, in case of boys in middle schools, Vitamin C was the only nutrient content that satisfied the standard in the planned menus, served menus and consumed menus. In the 1/3 KDRIs based assessment, middle schoolers were found not to be provided proper nutrients with school lunches. To improve nutrition management at middle school foodservices, dietitians should reinforce nutrient assessment for menu planning, and try to decrease serving loss and plate waste.

남제주군 학교급식대상 초.중등학생의 음식 기호와 영양소 섭취량의 비교 (Comparisons of Food Preference and Nutrient Intake of Students of Elementary School and Middle School Providing School Food Service in Nam Jeju Gun)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate differences of food preference and nutrient intake of students between elementary school and middle school in the same area and to provide data for better school food service. The subjects were 486 students, third to sixth grade of 3 elementary schools and first to second grade of 1 middle school in Nam jeju gun, Jeju, and the survey was conducted during June 1999. Food preference was assessed using questionnaires and 24-hour food intake was assessed using dietary record method. Data of weight and height were obtained from annual physical examination conducted at schools in May 1999. All the variables were compared among 3 groups in each gender: third and fourth grade elementary school(ES3,4), fifth and sixth grade elementary school(ES5,6), and first and second grade middle school(MS1,2). The results were summarized as follows. The average height, weight and BMI for the 3th grade boys in elementary schools met the national averages, but those of the others are below the national averages. Although general pattern of food preference looked similar among groups, food preference scores were significantly different among groups in 38 kinds foods for boys, and 27 kinds of foods for girls. MS1,2 group showed significantly lower food preference scores for most of foods as compared to those of ES3,4 and ES5,6 in both genders. Students of higher grade took more starch foods such as instant noodle, stewed rice cake and snacks. Average energy intakes of all the groups except MS1,2 girls were lower than recommended dietary allowances(RDA), and average intakes of protein, vitamins B1 and C met RDA, but the other nutrients were taken less than RDA and especially the intakes of iron, calcium and vitamins B2 were poor. Most of nutrients taken by school food service meal provided a major proportion of intakes. In conclusion, students of middle school were more particular about their foods served at school food service and marked lower food preference score than elementary school children and more conscious about their weight and appearance. These points should be reflected in planning food service menu at middle school.
