Microwave Absorption of Ferrite Powders by Wet-Direct Synthesis (습식직접합성 Ferrite 분말의 전파흡수능)

  • There is a growing demend for absorptive electromagentic shielding materials for wide band frequency application. In this study, the absorber which consists of a rubber plus Ni-Zn ferrite which have been prepared by direct-wet method. A rubber ferrite composite for electromagnetic shielding, it is most importan facter the homogeneous ultra fine size and high dispersitive ferrite powder. Direct-wet method and solid-solid reaction method for preparing of ultra fine ferrite powder was used. It has been experimentally verified that the powder which prepared by direct-wet method was very fine and almost same size spherical powder, the composite ferrite have excellent electromagnetic wave absorption in X-band.

  • Pulsed laser ablation has been used to fabricate superconducting $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(YBCO) thin films on MgO substrates. The epitaxial YBCO thin films were grown at $750^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure of 200 mTorr. The electrical property and the characteristics of the YBCO thin films have been studied by R-T measurement. scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A microstrip line resonator has been fabricated using YBCO superconducting thin films by photolithography and wet-etch process. The resonator has linear microstrip line separated by a gap of 0.278 mm. We observed a fundamental resonance peak at the frequency of 10.007 GHz.

  • Two-dimensional (2D) ultrathin molybdenum dichalcogenides $MoS_2$ has gained a great deal of attention in energy conversion and storage applications because of its unique morphology and property. The 2D $MoS_2$ nanosheets provide a high specific surface area, 2D charge channel, sub-nanometer thickness, and high conductivity, which lead to high electrochemical performances for energy storage devices. In this paper, an overview of properties and synthetic methods of $MoS_2$ nanosheets for applications of supercapacitors and rechargeable batteries is introduced. Different phases triangle prismatic 2H and metallic octahedral 1T structured $MoS_2$ were characterized using various analytical techniques. Preparation methods were focused on top-down and bottom-up approaches, including mechanical exfoliation, chemical intercalation and exfoliation, liquid phase exfoliation by the direct sonication, electrochemical intercalation exfoliation, microwave-assisted exfoliation, mechanical ball-milling, and hydrothermal synthesis. In addition, recent applications of supercapacitors and rechargeable batteries using $MoS_2$ electrode materials are discussed.

Fabrication of Microcrystalline NaPbLa(WO4)3:Yb3+/Ho3+ Phosphors and Their Upconversion Photoluminescent Characteristics

  • New triple tungstate phosphors NaPbLa(WO4)3:Yb3+/Ho3+ (x = Yb3+/Ho3+ = 7, 8, 9, 10) are successfully fabricated by microwave assisted sol-gel synthesis and their structural and frequency upconversion (UC) characteristics are investigated. The compounds crystallized in the tetragonal space group I41/a and the NaPbLa(WO4)3 host have unit cell parameters a = 5.3927(1) and c = 11.7961(3) Å, V = 343.05(2) Å3, Z = 4. Under excitation at 980 nm, the phosphors have yellowish green emissions, which are derived from the intense 5S2/5F45I8 transitions of Ho3+ ions in the green spectral range and strong 5F55I8 transitions in the red spectral range. The optimal Yb3+:Ho3+ ratio is revealed to be x = 9, which is attributed to the quenching effect of Ho3+ ions, as indicated by the composition dependence. The UC characteristics are evaluated in detail under consideration of the pump power dependence and Commission Internationale de L'Eclairage chromaticity. The spectroscopic features of Raman spectra are discussed in terms of the superposition of Ho3+ luminescence and vibrational lines. The possibility of controlling the spectral distribution of UC luminescence by the chemical content of tungstate hosts is demonstrated.

  • Graphene has been a valuable candidate for use as electrodes for supercapacitors. In order to improve the surface area of graphene, three-dimensional graphene was synthesized on porous Ni nanostructure using thermal chemical vapor deposition and microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition. The structural and chemical characterization of synthesized graphene was performed by scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was confirmed that three-dimensional and high-crystalline multilayer graphene onto various substrates was synthesized successfully.

Estimation of spatiotemporal soil moisture distribution for Yongdam-dam watershed using Sentinel-1 C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar images (Sentinel-1 C-band SAR 영상을 이용한 용담댐 유역의 시공간 토양수분 산정)

  • 토양수분은 TDR(Time Domain Reflectometry)이나 Tensiometer 등의 장비를 이용하여 측정을 시행하고 있으나, 이를 위해서는 많은 인력과 경제적 자원이 소비될 뿐만 아니라 시공간적으로 측정할 수 있는 범위에 한계가 있다. 지상 관측의 대안으로 MIRAS(Microwave Imaging Radiometer with Aperture Synthesis)나 SMAP(Soil Moisture Active Passive), AMSR2(Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2) 등의 수동 마이크로파 위성 센서를 이용한 공간 토양수분 관측이 수행되었으나, 낮은 공간 해상도(9~36km)는 지역 규모의 토양수분 분포를 나타내기 충분하지 않고, 높은 불확실성을 내포하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 금강 상류의 용담댐 유역(930.0㎢)을 대상으로 Sentinel-1 C-band SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) 영상을 이용한 토지 피복 및 토양 속성을 고려한 10m 해상도의 토양수분 산출을 수행하였다. 용담댐 유역은 산림 79.7%, 논 9.0%, 밭 5.4%, 주거지 2.9%의 토지 피복 비율을 가지며 토양은 사양토(66.6%)와 양토(20.9%)가 우세하다. Sentinel-1 C-band SAR 영상은 SeNtinel Application Platform(SNAP)을 이용하여 전처리 후, 후방산란계수로 변환하였다. 토양수분 알고리즘은 TU-Wien change detection algorithm과 Regression model을 활용하였고, 검증을 위한 실측 토양수분 자료는 한국수자원공사(K-water)에서 제공하는 5년(2014~2018)간의 토양수분 관측자료를 이용하였다. 산출된 토양수분은 결정계수(Coefficient of determination, R2) 및 평균제곱근오차(Root Mean Square Error, RMSE)를 이용하여 실측 토양수분과 비교하였다. Sentinel-1 C-band SAR 영상을 이용한 고해상도의 토양수분 산출은 토지 피복 및 토양 속성을 고려한 지역 규모의 공간 토양수분 분포 및 시간적 변화를 표현 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Microwave Assisted Synthesis of New N1-Substituted 5-Cyano-pyrimidine Derivatives as Potent Antimicrobial Agents (마이크로파를 이용한 강한 항균제인 새로운 N1-치환된 5-Cyano-pyrimidine 유도체의 합성)

  • purpose of the study was to synthesize new series of 5-cyano substituted pyrimidine analogues with different substitutions at N1 and 6 positions and to evaluate them for antibacterial and antifungal activities. The desired compounds were synthesized by tertiary condensation of ethylcyanoacetate, substituted thioureas and suitable aldehyde in presence of potassium carbonate using MORE technique. The antibacterial and antifungal activities were evaluated by cup plate method in the concentration of 25 mg. The zone of inhibition was measured in mm. All the compounds have shown significant antibacterial and antifungal activities. The maximum activity was shown by P1 and P5 against S.aureus and E.coli respectively, while P6 has shown significant activity against all types of microorganisms. The compound P8 has been found to be significantly effective against C. albicans. Norfloxacin and griseofulvin were used as standards to compare the activites of synthesized compounds. It is concluded that analogues containing p-hydroxy, p-methoxy substituted phenyl moiety at 6 position have been found to be more potent against gram-positive microorganisms, while analogues lacking these substituents on phenyl moiety possessed gram-negative activity. The compounds having p-dimethylamino substituent on phenyl moiety at 6 positions have shown moderate activity. Further, only fluorine containing analogue at N1 position was found to possess appreciable antifungal activity. This suggests that electron donating substituent on aryl moiety as well as electron withdrawing substituent at N1 plays important role in determining potency of the compounds.

A Filter Synthesis Method without Bandwidth Reduction for Dual-Band Filters Based on Coupled Lines (결합 선로 이중 대역 필터의 대역폭이 줄지 않는 설계 방법)

  • This paper proposes an improved filter synthesis method for dual-band filters based on coupled lines loaded with shunt stubs. The conventional design method relies on equality of the response of the conventional single-band filter and its dual-band counterpart at two frequencies. On the other hand, the proposed method is based on equivalence of the propagation constants and the image impedances of the two filters. Therefore, the proposed method does not suffer from bandwidth reduction phenomena, which requires complex compensating process in the conventional method. Also, the alternative design parameters provided by the demonstrated method enable to construct dual-band filters with more flexibility. For experimental verification, a Chebyshev type dual-band filter with center frequencies at 1 GHz and 3.5 GHz is designed and fabricated. The measured results are in excellent agreement with the full-wave simulated results.

  • Synthesis diamond films have been deposited on the molybdenum substrates using an microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method. The effects of deposition time, surface morphology, infrared transmittance and Raman scattering have been studied. Diamond deposited on molybdenum substrate for 100 hours by MW plasma CVD from $CH_4-H_2-O_2$ gas mixture had good crystallity with $100[{\mu}m]$ thickness needed for radiation detector. Diamond radiation detector of M-I-M type was made and the current of radiation detector was increased by increasing X-ray dose.
