When a crack is produced in a concrete structure, a micro crack zone of fracture process zone (FPZ) appears at the crack tip. To investigate the behaviour of this the micro crack zone, nonlinear fracture mechanics (NLFM) must be applied. However, when a massive concrete structure such as a concrete gravity dam is considered, the micro crack zone can be neglected and the structure can be assumed to have linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) behaviour. This study is divided into two main topics : (1) Calculating stress intensity factor (SIF) at the crack tip by surface integral method and (2) Investigating the propagation of the initial crack. If the initial crack propagates, the angle of the propagation is calculated by using maximum circumferential tensile strength theory. This study, also, contains the effects of body forces and water pressures on the crack face.
We have analyzed the dielectrophoretic(DEP) force on a cell in a micro planar electrode structure. We fabricate a micro planar electrode structure using micro machining technology and measure the motion of a cell that is accelerated by DEP force. DEP force on a cell is calculated by curve fitting the motion of a cell. Radish and yeast are used for the experiment. In case of radish, DEP force is increased as the voltage and the frequency is increased, and in case of yeast, DEP force is increased only as the voltage is increased DEP force on a yeast does not vary when the frequency varies from 1 MHz to 3 MHz. The result will be helpful to the manipulation of cells using DEP force.
Milli-structure components are classified as component group whose size is between macro and micro scale. that is, about less than 20mm and larger than 1mm. The forming of these components has a typical phenomenon of bulk deformation with thin sheets because of the forming size. In order to conventional metal forming, where numerical process simulation is already fully applied, the micro-forming process is characterized by some scale effects which have to be considered in an advanced process simulation. milli-structure rectangular cup drawing is analyzed and designed using the finite element method and experiment. The result of the finite element analysis is confirmed by a series of experiments.
Nano size 몰드의 제작은 X-ray lithography 방법을 이용하여 몰드를 제작하고, micro size의 경우 Deep UV lithography 방법을 이용하여 몰드를 제작하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 SLS(Selective Laser Sintering)형 RP(Rapid Prototyping System)을 이용하여 미세구조 몰드를 제작하였으며, 패턴의 깊이는 400 ㎛까지 구현하였다. 제작된 몰드의 강도와 내열성을 높이기 위하여 전해도금을 이용하여 몰드의 표면에 Ni를 300 ㎛생성 시켰다.
The micro permanent magnet(PM) type stewing motor preferred solution for many small electronics position determination devices since it is small in size. Thus, there are growing demands for PM type stepping motor that greater mechanical output, smaller size. But, the design of the it, having high performance and small size is very difficult because of its complex mechanical structure. This paper deals with a development of the newly structured micro PM type stepping motor with claw-poles. We introduced the small-sized PM type stepping motor that has new structure and analyzed the magnetic characteristic of it versus general type model using 3-D finite element analysis(FEA).
In order to make a highly ordered three-dimensionally macro-porous structure of zirconia ceramics, porogen precursors PMMA beads were prepared by emulsion polymerization using acrylic monomer. The monodisperse PMMA latex beads were closely packed by centrifugation as a porogen template for the infiltration of zirconium acetate solution. The mixed compound of PMMA and zirconium acetate was dried. According to the firing schedule, dry compacts of PMMA and zirconium acetate were calcined at $475^{\circ}C$ to obtain micro-, macro-, and meso- structures of polycrystalline zirconia with monodispersed porosity. Inorganic frameworks composed of $ZrO_2$ were formed and showed a three Dimensionally Ordered Microstructure [3DOM] of $ZrO_2$ ceramics. The obtained $ZrO_2$ skeleton was calcined at $710^{\circ}C$. The 3DOM $ZrO_2$ skeleton showed color tuning in solutions such as deionized [DI] $H_2O$ and/or methanol. The monodispersed crystalline micro-structure with micro/meso porosity was observed by FE-SEM.
In this work, a new non-lithographic micro-fabrication technique is presented. The motivation of this work is to overcome the demerits of the most commonly used photo-lithographic techniques. The micro-fabrication technique presented in this work is a two-step process which consists of mechanical scribing followed by chemical etching. This method has many advantages over other micro-fabrication techniques since it is simple, cost-effective, rapid, and flexible. Also, the technique can be used to obtain a metal structure which has sub-micrometer width patterns. In this paper, the concept of this method and its application to microsystem technology are described.

We newly designed and manufactured a new arranging system for a three-dimensional artificial crystal of monosized micro particles. In this system, a robotic micro-manipulator accurately locates the spherical particle onto the lattice point, and subsequently fiber lasers micro-weld the contact points between the neighboring particles. Actually, one- and two-dimensional arrays were constructed using monosized tin particles with the diameter of 400 m. Moreover, due to optimization of the process parameters, we successfully constructed the artificial crystals of simple cubic and diamond structures. In particular, the diamond structure which can represent a large photonic band gap is expected to progress toward a practical photonic crystal device.
This Paper Presents the optimized design of micro-heaters using 501(Si-on-insulator) substrate and oxide-filled trench structure In order to justify a lumped model approximation and thermal boundary assumptions, two-dimensional FDM(finite difference among which conduction is the dominant heat dissipation path. Compared with no-trenchs on the SOI structure, the micro-heaters with trench structures has properties of low heater loss and good thermal isolation. The simulation results show that the heater loss decreases as the number. width and distance of trenchs increases.
This paper studies on the design and fabrication of a micro in-plane positioning actuator integrated with a microlens. Proposed in-plane actuator is a micro XY-stage which is composed of two linear comb drive actuators being orthogonal to each other. In the fabrication of actuator, the single crystalline silicon substrate anodically bonded with a #7740 glass substrate is used because of simple release and passivation. The structure of actuator is formed on the silicon facet of bonded fixture by chlorine-based deep RIE and then released by isotropic wet etching of glass (#7740) in hydrofluoric acid solution. Fabricated actuator has a large travel range up to $30({\pm}15){\mu}m$ and high resolution less than 0.01f1l1l in each direction. Experimented resonant frequency of this actuator is 630Hz. The micro-Fresnel lens is fabricated on the square-shape glass structure prepared in the center of actuator.
