  • The sintering behavior of zircon with silica was investigated. Zircon with 5 vol% of sedimentation $SiO_2$ resulted in the apparent density of $4.45\;g/cm^3$, the diametral tensile strength of $12.125\;kgf/cm^2$, and the micro Vickers hardness of 1283 HV. The dissociation temperature and mechanical characteristics of the $ZrSiO_4$ were changed with different kinds of $SiO_2$. $SiO_2$ addition prevented dissociation of $ZrSiO_4$. Zircon with 5 vol% of sedimentation $SiO_2$ and with 5 vol% of fused $SiO_2$ resulted in increased diametral tensile strength and increased micro Vickers hardness by suppression of $ZrSiO_4$ dissociation and low temperature liquid $SiO_2$ formation. Zircon with fumed $SiO_2$ and quartz $SiO_2$ resulted in decreased diametral tensile strength and decreased micro Vickers hardness because of cristobalite and quartz phase formation and high temperature liquid $SiO_2$ formation. Zircon with 10 vol% of $SiO_2$ resulted in decreased diametral tensile strength and decreased micro Vickers hardness because of weak particle coupling due to excess formation of liquid $SiO_2$.

  • Micro-Macro approach is conducted for the mixture solidification to handle the closely linked phenomena of microscopic solute redistribution and macroscopic solidification behavior. For this purpose, present work combines the efficiency of mixture theory for macro part and the capability of microscopic analysis of two-phase model for micro part. The micro part of present study is verified by comparison with experiment of Al-4.9 mass% Cu alloy. The effect of back diffusion on the macroscopic variables such as temperature and liquid concentration, is appreciable. The effect, however, is considerable on the mixture concentration and eutectic fraction which are indices of macro and micro segregation, respectively. According to the diffusion time, the behavior near the cooling wall where relatively rapid solidification permits short solutal diffusion time, approaches Scheil equation limit and inner part approaches lever rule limit.

  • Recently, various bulk metallic glasses (BMG's) having good mechanical and chemical properties were developed. BMG's can easily be deformed in the supercooled liquid region, via viscous flow mechanism. By using the viscous flow, the very low pressure is needed to deform the materials. In this study, we investigated the structural transition and deformation behavior of Vitreloy 1 (Zr/sub 41.2/Ti/sub 13.8/Cu/sub 12.5/Ni/sub 10/Be/sub 22.5/) using TMA and DSC. We applied the results to the micro forming process. The forming condition was chosen based on the viscosity data from TMA, and Si wafer with micro patterns on the surface was used as a forming die. The deformed surface was analyzed by SEM and 3D Surface Profiling System. The alloy showed good replication of the patterns. Quantitative measurement of roughness was useful to evaluate the replication. Surface condition of the deformed surface was determined by the initial surface condition.

  • The hydrogen reduction behavior of ultrasonic ball-milled $WO_3-CuO$ nanopowder, which is highly related with micro-pore structure, was investigated by thermogravimetry(TG) and hygrometry system. EDS and TEM results represented that the ultrasonic ball-milled $WO_3-CuO$ nanopowder consisted of the agglomerates which was confirmed as a homogeneous mixture of $WO_3$ and CuO particles. It was found that the reduction reaction of CuO was retarded by initial micro-pores which are smaller than 40 nm in the ultrasonic ball-milled $WO_3-CuO$ nanopowder. The earlier agglomeration of Cu particles at comparably low temperature decreased the volume of micro-pores in the $WO_3-CuO$ nanopowder which caused the retardation of $WO_3$ reduction reaction. These results clearly explain that the micro-pore structure significantly affected the reduction reaction of $WO_3$ and CuO in the $WO_3-CuO$ nanopowder.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of micro and macro-influencers on consumer purchase intentions, specifically focusing on the role of the product's origin (domestic or foreign). The study will specifically analyze the markets of South Korea and Kyrgyzstan to understand how various types of influencers impact consumer behavior within these unique cultural and economic settings. Design/methodology/approach This study evaluates hypotheses using the factorial design method among social media users in South Korea and Kyrgyzstan. The experiments involve scenarios with eight different groups. The analytical research methodology used is analysis of variance (ANOVA). Findings The study findings confirmed that micro- and macro-influencers have varying effects on consumer behavior, which supports previous research. The inclusion of the product origin factor resulted in more accurate data. In both the South Korean and Kyrgyzstan markets, the findings indicated that micro- and macro-influencers have limited success in promoting local products. However, when it comes to promoting foreign products, there are notable differences in effectiveness between micro- and macro-influencers, with macro-influencers being more effective.

  • This paper is to investigate the micro-behavior of the double-span beams with WUF-W seismic connection under combined axial tension and moment and to propose the rational rotational capacity of it for progressive collapse-resistant analysis and design addressing the stress and strain transfer mechanism. To this end, the behavior of the double-span beams under the column missing event is first investigated using the advanced nonlinear finite element analysis. The characteristics of fracture indices of double-span beams with WUF-W connection under combined axial tension and flexural moment are addressed and then proposed the rational rotational capacity as the basic datum for the progressive collapse-resistant design and analysis. The distribution of fracture indices related to stress and strain for the double-span beams is investigated based on a material and geometric nonlinear finite element analysis. Furthermore, the micro-behavior for earthquake and progressive collapse is explicitly different.

  • In recent years, the tribological behavior of coated ceramic material has been the issue of much interest. Particularly, the understanding of the tribological performance of thin film under light load is important for its potential in applications of MEMS. The friction and wear behavior of ceramic material that occur at light load depends on several factors such as surface roughness, contact area and material properties. In this work, the tribological behavior of coated silicon under light load and low speed was investigated. Particularly, the effects of coated materials, humidity and undulated surface were also studied. The results show that the effect of humidity on fiction was influenced by the apparent area of contact between the two surfaces. Also both adhesive and abrasive wear occurred depending on the sliding condition. Finally, undulations on the silicon wafer were found to be effective in trapping wear particles and resulted in the reduction of friction.

  • An experimental study has been carried out of the combustion behavior of single fuel droplets of water-in-light oil emulsions in an electric furnace to elucidate the dominant factor for the occurrence of micro-explosions. The tests were carried out by changing the following four parameters; the size of water droplets in the emulsified fuels having the same water content, the ratio of water to light oil, ambient temperature in electric furnace, and the kind of fuel having different viscosity(Kerosene, Olive Oil). The result shows that the each parameter plays the different role in the effect on behavior of vaporization, explosion, ignition and combustion for single droplets of water-in-oil Emulsified fuels.

  • Grouting internally with grout materials can repair the micro-cracks and micro-voids of construction joints more efficiently than injecting grouts from the surface of cracks. A new internal grouting method using perforated bundled-cables was developed in this study to enhance the structural integrity of the construction joints. The extensive experiments were performed to examine the mechanical behavior of construction joints which are repaired internally by the developed method. The tests were conducted for rectangular-shaped box wall structures and straight wall structures. The strength and permeability tests at grouted construction joints were conducted to evaluate the structural behavior of repaired construction joints. The present study indicates that the internal grouting method developed in this study enhances greatly the performance of construction joints and may be efficiently used for the leak-tight integrity of construction joints in concrete structures.

  • Small powder size is very useful in achieving detailed structures. STS 316 nanopowders with an average diameter of 100 nm and $5{\mu}m$ were utilized to produce feedstock. The mixing behavior of the feedstock indicated that the nanoparticle feedstock produced the highest mixing torque at various powder loading compared to the micropowder feedstock. The nanoparticles feedstocks showed that elastic properties are dominant in flow behavior and high viscosity. Conversely the micropowders feedstocks, viscous properties are dominant in flow behavior and less viscosity, nanopowders feedstock perform lower flow activation energy than feedstock with bigger particles.
