Model-based Optimal Control Algorithm for the Clamp Switch of Zero-Voltage Switching DC-DC Converter

  • This paper proposes a model-based optimal control algorithm for the clamp switch of a zero-voltage switching (ZVS) bidirectional DC-DC converter. The bidirectional DC-DC converter (BDC) can accomplish the ZVS operation using the clamp switch. The minimum current for the ZVS operation is maintained, and the inductor current is separated from the input and output voltages by the clamp switch in this topology. The clamp switch can decrease the inductor current ripple, switching loss, and conduction loss of the system. Therefore, the optimal control of the clamp switch is significant to improve the efficiency of the system. This paper proposes a model-based optimal control algorithm using phase shift in a micro-controller unit. The proposed control algorithm is demonstrated by the results of PSIM simulations and an experiment conducted in a 1-kW ZVS BDC system.

  • This paper presents a single-pole eight-throw(SP8T) switch based on proposed a radio-frequency(RF) microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) switches. The proposed switch was driven by a double stop(DS) comb drive, with a lateral resistive contact. Additionally, the proposed switch was designed to have tapered signal line and bi-directionally actuated. A forward actuation connects between signal lines and contact part, and the output becomes on-state. A reverse actuation connects between ground lines and contact part, and the output becomes off-state. The SP8T switch of 3-stage tree topology was developed based on an arrangement of the proposed RF MEMS switches. The developed SP8T switch had an actuation voltage of 12 V, an insertion loss of 1.3 dB, a return loss of 15.1 dB, and an isolation of 31.4 dB at 6 GHz.

  • A low voltage operated piezoelectric RF MEMS in-line switch has been realized by using silicon bulk micromachining technologies for advanced mobile/wireless applications. The developed RF MEMS in-line switches were comprised of four piezoelectric cantilever actuators with an Au contact metal electrode and a suspended Au signal transmission line above the silicon substrate. The measured operation dc bias voltages were ranged from 2.5 to 4 volts by varying the thickness and the length of the piezoelectric cantilever actuators, which are well agreed with the simulation results. The measured isolation and insertion loss of the switch with series configuration were -43dB and -0.21dB (including parasitic effects of the silicon substrate) at a frequency of 2GHz and an actuation voltage of 3 volts.

  • 본 논문에서는 파장 다중 광 네트워크의 스위치 노드 개선에 관하여 기술한다. 현재 인터넷 트래픽의 급속한 증가로 인해 보다 큰 네트워크 용량이 요구되고 있다. 파장다중 광 네트워크는 고속의 데이터 전송과 데이터 속도와 유형에 대한 투명성 등을 제공하여 주기 때문에 미래의 광 네트워크 구성에 가장 유력한 기술이다. 이러한 광 네트워크에서는 많은 양의 멀터미디어 정보를 전송하고 이에 대한 트래픽을 처리 할 수 있으며 또한 트래픽의 제어가 가능한 노드 구조를 필요로 하고 있다 파장다중 광 네트워크 노드의 스위치는 스위칭을 위한 광 스위치 모듈과 파장 변환을 위한 파장 변환기 모듈로 구 성되고 광 마이크로 전자기계스위치(MEMS: Micro Electro Mechanical Switches)를 이용하여 광/전 또는 전/광 변환 없이 구현한다. 실험에서는 광 MEMS를 이용하여 스위치 노드를 구성하고 광신호의 성능과 스위치 패브릭의 동작 특성에 관한 검증을 통하여 광/전 또는 전/광 변환 없이 완전 광으로 대용량 트래픽을 처리함으로서 기존의 노드를 개선한 새로운 파장다중 광 스위치 노드를 제안한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 마이크로 컨트롤러를 사용한 다기능 스위치에 대하여 설명한다. 21세기 정보화 시대에 발 맞추어 산업 현장에서는 공장 자동화를 더불어 가정에서는 흠 자동화 시스템이 확산되고 있다. 공장 자동화 및 홈 자동화를 구현하기 위해서 컴퓨터의 사용은 불가피하다. 따라서 사용자와 컴퓨터간 인터페이스 기술과 컴퓨터와 제품간 인터페이스 기술을 요하게 된다. 본 논문의 다기능 스위치는 자동화 시스템 구현에 필요한 인터페이스를 제공해 준다. 또한 마이크로 컨트롤러가 탑재되어 있기 때문에 독립적으로 사용할 수 있다. 따라서 가정에서 간단한 홈 자동화를 구현 할 수 있으며 산업현장에서는 간단한 시퀀스 제어를 이용한 자동화 시스템에 사용될 수 있다. 또한 각종 시스템에 복합적으로 또는 독립적으로 사용이 가능하다.

로렌츠 힘을 이용한 평면구동형 마이크로 광스위치 (A Laterally Driven Electromagnetic Microoptical Switch Using Lorentz force)

  • A laterally driven electromagnetic microactuator (LaDEM) is presented, and a micro-optical switch is designed and fabricated as a possible application. LaDEM provides parallel actuation of the microactuator to the silicon substrate surface (in-plane mode) by the Lorentz force. Poly-silicon-on-insulator (Poly-SOI) wafers and a reactive ion etching (RIE) process were used to fabricate high-aspect-ratio vertical microstructures, which allowed the equipment of a vertical micro mirror. A fabricated arch-shaped leaf spring has a thickness of $1.8{\mu}m$, width of $16{\mu}m$, and length of $800{\mu}m$. The resistance of the fabricated structure fer the optical switch was approximately 5$\Omega$. The deflection of the leaf springs increases linearly up to about 400 mA and then it demonstrates a buckling behavior around the current value. Owing to this nonlinear phenomenon, a large displacement of $60{\mu}m$ could be measured at 566 mA. The displacement-load relation and some dynamic characteristics are analyzed using the finite element simulations.

Lactate promotes vascular smooth muscle cell switch to a synthetic phenotype by inhibiting miR-23b expression

  • Recent research indicates that lactate promotes the switching of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) to a synthetic phenotype, which has been implicated in various vascular diseases. This study aimed to investigate the effects of lactate on the VSMC phenotype switch and the underlying mechanism. The CCK-8 method was used to assess cell viability. The microRNAs and mRNAs levels were evaluated using quantitative PCR. Targets of microRNA were predicted using online tools and confirmed using a luciferase reporter assay. We found that lactate promoted the switch of VSMCs to a synthetic phenotype, as evidenced by an increase in VSMC proliferation, mitochondrial activity, migration, and synthesis but a decrease in VSMC apoptosis. Lactate inhibited miR-23b expression in VSMCs, and miR-23b inhibited VSMC's switch to the synthetic phenotype. Lactate modulated the VSMC phenotype through downregulation of miR-23b expression, suggesting that overexpression of miR-23b using a miR-23b mimic attenuated the effects of lactate on VSMC phenotype modulation. Moreover, we discovered that SMAD family member 3 (SMAD3) was the target of miR-23b in regulating VSMC phenotype. Further findings suggested that lactate promotes VSMC switch to synthetic phenotype by targeting SMAD3 and downregulating miR-23b. These findings suggest that correcting the dysregulation of miR-23b/SMAD3 or lactate metabolism is a potential treatment for vascular diseases.

금/주석 공융점 접합과 유리 기판의 건식 식각을 이용한 고주파 MEMS 스위치의 기판 단위 실장 (Wafer-Level Package of RF MEMS Switch using Au/Sn Eutectic Bonding and Glass Dry Etch)

  • A low loss radio frequency(RF) micro electro mechanical systems(MEMS) switch driven by a low actuation voltage was designed for the development of a new RF MEMS switch. The RF MEMS switch should be encapsulated. The glass cap and fabricated RF MEMS switch were assembled by the Au/Sn eutectic bonding principle for wafer-level packaging. The through-vias on the glass substrate was made by the glass dry etching and Au electroplating process. The packaged RF MEMS switch had an actuation voltage of 12.5 V, an insertion loss below 0.25 dB, a return loss above 16.6 dB, and an isolation value above 41.4 dB at 6 GHz.
