표고버섯의 Mitochondrial $F_1-ATPase$ 활성도에 미치는 금속이온의 역할에 관한 연구 (Study on the Role of Metal ions for the Activity of the Mitochondrial $F_1-ATPase$ in Lentinus edodes)

  • 표고버섯의 mitochondria에 금속 chelating agent인 10 mM EDTA 및 10 mM o-Phe을 포함하는 10 mM Tris-HCl 완충용액(pH 7.5)으로 48시간 동안 각각 투석처리 하였을 때 mitochondria 내의 철 이온 함량이 투석처리를 하지 않은 대조구에 비하여 각각 74% 및 68% 감소되며, mitochondrial $F_1-ATPase$의 활성도는 대조구에 비하여 각각 56% 및 49%의 활성을 상실하였다. EDTA 투석에 의하여 활성을 상실한 metal-free mitochondrial $F_1-ATPase$$0.5\;mM\;Fe^{3+}$$0.05\;mM\;Mg^{2+}$에 의하여 각각 81% 및 70%의 활성이 회복되었으며, $Fe^{2+}$에 의해서는 활성이 회복되지 않았다. 또한 이 효소는 $0.5\;mM\;Fe^{3+}$$0.05\;mM\;Mg^{2+}$이 공존할 때 95%의 재활성화를 나타내었으며, $Fe^{2+}$$Mg^{2+}$의 공존 효과는 없었다. o-Phe으로 투석한 효소도 각 이온에 대하여 EDTA로 투석한 효소와 유사한 결과를 나타내었다. 그러므로, 표고버섯 내의 mitochondrial $F_1-ATPase$는 그 활성을 나타내는 데 있어서 $Fe^{3+}$$Mg^{2+}$을 필요로 함을 알았다. 기질 ATP에 대한 효소의 Km값은 1.67 mM이나, 효소를 가장 크게 활성화시키는 $0.5\;mM\;Fe^{3+}$$0.05\;mM\;Mg^{2+}$이 존재할 때의 Km값은 0.65 mM로서 기질 친화성이 증가되었다.

  • 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널(Plasma Hsplay Panel :PDP)이 다른 평판 디스플레이 분야(Liquid Crystal Displays(LCDs) and organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs)등)와 경쟁에서 이기기 위해서는 제품의 고화질화, 저소비전력와 고속구동 등의 성능향상이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 PDP의 성능향상을 위하여 유전체 보호층으로 쓰이는 MgO 박막에 Fe를 미량 첨가한 박막을 증착하고, 그 특성에 대하여 연구하였다. e-beam 증착법으로 증착된 Fe 도핑 된 MgO 박막의 표면특성과 전기광학적 특성을 4인치 테스트 패널을 제작하여 연구하였다. Fe가 도핑된 MgO 박막을 가지는 PDP는 Fe가 도핑되지 않은 PDP에 비해 낮은 방전전압 특성을 나타내었으며, 이는 박막에서 측정된 2차전자방출계수의 실험결과와 잘 일치되었다. 증착된 박막의 결정성과 표면 거칠기는 XRD 와 AFM 측정방법을 통하여 결정되었다. 또한, Fe가 도핑된 PDP는 고속구동을 위한 향상된 어드레스 방전 늦음의 특성을 나타내었다.

Growth of the single and epitaxial MgO film on Fe(001)

  • The epitaxial growth of MgO film on Fe(001) has been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). After confirming the clean Fe(001)-c($2{\times}2$) substrate by STM, Mg was deposited at room temperature (RT) under $O_2$ partial pressure of $10^{-7}\;Torr$. The MgO was grown as clusters, not as an epilayer even after postannealing at $400^{\circ}C$, as shown in Figure (a). On the contrary, when Mg was deposited on Fe(001)-c($2{\times}2$) at RT and post-oxidized through exposing $O_2$ at partial pressure $10^{-7}\;Torr$, the thin-layered film with some clusters was formed. Extended-annealing at $400^{\circ}C$ reduced the cluster density, and finally the single and epitaxial MgO-c($2{\times}2$) film was formed on Fe(001)-c($2{\times}2$) as shown in Figure (b). This ultrathin MgO film formed on Fe is expected to be applied to many technological applications, such as catalysis, microelectronics, and magnetic devices.

MgB2 초전도 특성에 대한 나노 FexC 첨가 효과 (Effects of Nano FexC Addition on Superconducting Properties of MgB2)

  • The effects of nano $Fe_xC$ addition to superconducting properties of $in$ $situ$ processed $MgB_2$ superconductors was examined. 0.1 wt.% and 1 wt.% nano $Fe_xC$ powders were mixed with boron and magnesium powders by ball milling. The powder mixtures were made into pellets by uniaxial pressing. The pellets were heat-treated at $700^{\circ}C-900^{\circ}C$ in argon atmosphere for $MgB_2$ formation. It was found by powder X-ray diffraction that the raw powders were completely converted into $MgB_2$ after the heat treatment. The superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) and critical current density ($J_c$), estimated from susceptibility-temperature and $M-H$ curves, were decreased by nano $Fe_xC$ addition. The $T_c$ and $J_c$ decrease by nano $Fe_xC$ addition are attributed to the incorporation of iron and carbon with $MgB_2$ lattices (Fe substitution for Mg and C substitution for B) due to the high reactivity of the nano $Fe_xC$ powder.

Synthesis of thin-multiwalled carbon nanotubes by Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst using sol-gel method

  • The sol-gel technique has been studied to fabricate a homogeneous Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst. Ambient effects (air, Ar, and $H_2$) on thermal decomposition of the citrate precursor have been systematically investigated to fabricate an Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst. Severe agglomeration of metal catalyst was observed under thermal decomposition of citrate precursor in air atmosphere. Ar/$H_2$ atmosphere effectively restricted agglomeration of bimetallic catalyst and formation of highly-dispersed Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst with high specific surface-area due to the formation of Fe-Mo nanoclusters within MgO support. High-quality thin-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (t-MWCNTs) with uniform diameters were achieved on a large scale by catalytic decomposition of methane over Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst prepared under Ar-atmosphere. The produced t-MWCNTs had outer diameters in the range of 4-8 nm (average diameter ~6.6 nm) and wall numbers in the range of 4-7 graphenes. The as-synthesized t-MWCNTs showed product yields over 450% relative to the utilized Fe-Mo/MgO catalyst, and indicated a purity of about 85%.

Structural and Electrochemical Properties of Doped LiFe0.48Mn0.48Mg0.04PO4 as Cathode Material for Lithium ion Batteries

  • The electrochemical properties of Mg-doped $LiFe_{0.48}Mn_{0.48}Mg_{0.04}PO_4$ and pure $LiFe_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}PO_4$ olivine cathodes are examined and the lattice parameters are refined by Rietveld analysis. The calculated atomic parameters from the refinement show that $Mg^{2+}$ doping has a significant effect in the olivine $LiFeMnPO_4$ structure. The unit cell volume is 297.053(2) ${\AA}^3$ for pure $LiFe_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}PO_4$ and is decreased to 296.177(1) ${\AA}^3$ for Mg-doped $LiFe_{0.48}Mn_{0.48}Mg_{0.04}PO_4$ sample. The doping of $Mg^{2+}$ cation with atomic radius smaller than $Mn^{2+}$ and $Fe^{2+}$ ion induces longer Li-O bond length in $LiO_6$ octahedra of the olivine structure. The larger interstitial sites in $LiO_6$ octahedra facilitate the lithium ion migration and also enhance the diffusion kinetics of olivine cathode material. The $LiFe_{0.48}Mn_{0.48}Mg_{0.04}PO_4$ sample with larger Li-O bond length delivers higher discharge capacities and also notably increases the rate capability of the electrode.

환원확산법에 의한 TiFe 수소 흡장합금의 제조에 관한 기초적 연구 (Fundamental Study on the Production of TiFe Hydrogen Alloy by the Reduction-Diffusion Process)

  • For comparison, we used Ca and Mg as reducers to produce TiFe hydrogen stroage alloy from Fe and TiO$_2$by the Reduction-Diffusion process. The results obtained were as follow. \circled1 Ca was found to be effective both for reduction and diffusion processes. Moreover, Ca oxide was easily removed in an NH$_4$Cl solution after the reaction. \circled2 In the case of using Ca as a reducer, the Reduction-Diffusion process is considered to take place in the foiling three steps. First, TiO$_2$is reduced to Ti by Ca over 100$0^{\circ}C$. Second, the atomic Ti drifts in the Ca melt and meets Fe particles. Finally, the atomic Ti diffuses in to the Fe particles. \circled3 In the case of using Mg as a reducer, We found that the reduction reaction of TiO$_2$went well. But the reduced Ti scarcely diffused into Fe particles. This was probably because no Mg melt was formed due to the high vapor pressure of Mg.

Magnetic Anisotropy of Oxygen-deficient Fe/MgO(001) System: An ab Initio Study

  • Using ab initio calculations, we study the MgO(001) and Fe/MgO(001) surface phases and the effects of interface structure on the Fe/MgO magnetic anisotropy. The surface phase diagrams of MgO(001) and Fe/MgO(001) show that the most stable surface structures are either defect-free surface or the surfaces with oxygen vacancies in c($2{\times}1$) periodicity for the systems. By the formations of the oxygen vacancy rows on MgO(001) surface, the in-plane magnetic anisotropy energy of Fe overlayer is reduced while the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy energy is increased from 0.1 to 0.5 meV per Fe atom.

고신율 금형주조용 Al-9wt%Si-Mg계 합금의 주조특성에 미치는 Fe, Mn함량의 영향 (Effect of Fe, Mn Content on the Castability in Al-9wt%Si-Mg System Alloys for High Elongation)

  • Effect of Fe and Mn contents on the castability of Al-9wt%Si-xMg-yFe-zMn alloy has been studied. The alloy was composed of ${\alpha}$-Al phase, Al+eutectic Si phase, ${\beta}$-Al5FeSi compound and chinese script ${\alpha}$-$Al_{15}(Mn,Fe)_3Si_2$ compound. ${\beta}$-$Al_5FeSi$ and ${\alpha}$-$Al_{15}(Mn,Fe)_3Si_2$ compounds assumed to effect the fluidity and shrinkage behaviors of the alloy during solidification due to the crystallization of ${\alpha}$-$Al_{15}(Fe,Mn)_3Si_2$ and ${\beta}$-$Al_5FeSi$ compounds above eutectic temperature. As Fe and Mn contents of Al-9wt%Si-0.3wt%Mg system alloy increased from 0.15wt% to 0.6wt% and from 0.3wt% to 0.7wt%, fluidity of the alloy decreased by 5.7% and 3.3%, respectively. And as Mg content of Al-9wt%Si-0.45wt%Fe-0.5wt%Mn system alloy increased from 0.3wt% to 0.4wt%, fluidity of the alloy decreased by 8.6%. When Fe content of the alloy increased from 0.15wt% to 0.6wt%, macro shrinkage ratio decreased from 6.1% to 4.1%, and micro shrinkage ratio increased from 0.04% to 0.24%. Similarly, Mn content of the alloy increased from 0.3wt% to 0.7wt%, macro shrinkage ratio decreased from 6.0% to 4.5% and micro shrinkage ratio increased from 0.12% to 0.18%. Judging from the castability of the alloy, Al-9wt%Si-0.3wt%Mg alloy with low content of Fe and Mn, 0.1wt% Fe and 0.3wt% Mn, is recommendable.

오계란 단백질 가수 분해물 제조 및 한외여과 분획물의 in vitro 항산화 활성 특성 (In vitro Antioxidant Activity of Ogae (Korean Native Black Fowl) Egg White Protein Hydrolysates Fractionated by Ultrafiltration)

  • 식물 및 동물성 단백질 유래 펩타이드 형태의 단백질 가수 분해물들은 항산화, 고혈압 완화, 면역조절, 진통완화 및 항균작용 등 생리활성이 있는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 본 연구는 연산오계란 단백질 가수 분해물을 Ultrafiltration를 이용하여 HDS(분획되지 않은 가수 분해물), 1 kDa, 5 kDa, 10 kDa, 50 kDa로 분획된 기능성 펩타이드의 DPPH radical scavenging activity, superoxide anion radical scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity 및 $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability을 평가하였다. 그 결과 DPPH radical scavenging activity 최대값은 1 kDa(70.83 %), hydroxyl radical scavenging activity 최대값은 5 kDa (47.01 %), superoxide anion radical scavenging activity 최대값은 5 kDa(40.57 %), $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability 최대값은 5 kDa(29.87 %)로 나타났다. Ultrafiltration를 이용하여 fractionation된 단백질 가수 분해물의 항산화 저해 능력 $IC_{50}$ 평가하였다. 그 결과 HDS의 최대값은 superoxide anion radical scavenging activity($IC_{50}$, 5.42 mg/ml)이고, 1 kDa의 최대값은 $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability($IC_{50}$, 1.67 mg/ml)이고, 5 kDa의 최대값은 $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability($IC_{50}$, 2.09 mg/ml)이고, 10 kDa의 최대값은 $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability($IC_{50}$, 2.61 mg/ml)이고, 50 kDa의 최대값은 $Fe^{2+}$ chelation ability($IC_{50}$, 4.53 mg/ml)이다. 그러므로 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 5 kDa를 이용하여 오계란 단백질에서 분획한 펩타이드는 항산화 기능성 식품소재로서 활용할 가치가 높을 것으로 기대한다.
