Activity Changes of Supported Nickel Catalysts with Respect to Ni Loading (니켈 담지촉매의 니켈 담지량에 따른 활성 변화)

  • Synthesis gas is commercially produced by a steam reforming process. However, the process is highly endothermic and energy-consuming. Thus, this study was conducted to produce synthesis gas by the partial oxidation of methane to decrease the energy cost. Supported Ni catalysts were prepared by the impregnation method. To examine the activity of the catalysts, a differential fixed bed reactor was used, and the reaction was carried out at $750{\sim}850^{\circ}C$ and 1 atm. The fresh and used catalysts were characterized by XRD, XPS, TGA and AAS. The highest catalytic activity was obtained with the 13wt% Ni/MgO catalyst, with which methane conversion was 81%, and $H_2$ and CO selectivities were 94% and 93%, respectively. 13wt% Ni/MgO catalyst showed the best $MgNiO_2$ solid solution state, which can explain the highest catalytic activity of the 13wt% Ni/MgO catalyst.

  • The three-reactor chemical-looping process (TRCL) for the production of hydrogen from natural gas is attractive for both $CO_2$ capture and hydrogen production. In this study, redox property of $Fe_2O_3$ and $WO_3$ supported with $ZrO_2$ and $MgAl_2O_4$ were studied with temperature programmed oxidation/reduction (TPO/R) experiment. All metal oxides were prepared by ball mill method. Metal oxides supported with $ZrO_2$ showed the good redox property in TPO and TPR tests. Reduction behavior was matched well the theoretical reduction mechanism. Metal oxides supported with $MgAl_2O_4$ formed a solid solution ($MgFe_{0.6}Al_{1.4}O_4$, $MgWO_4$). $Fe_2O_3$ showed more narrow reaction range and lower reaction temperature than $WO_3$.

고상합성으로 제조된 Mg2Si0.5Ge0.5Sby의 열전특성

  • 열전재료는 열-전기가 상호 가역적으로 변하는 재료로서, 최근 에너지 변환소재 분야에서 각광받고 있다. 열전재료의 특성 효율은 무차원 열전 성능지수(dimensionless figure of merit, $ZT={\alpha}2{\sigma}T/{\kappa}$)로 나타낼 수 있다. 여기서 ${\alpha}$는 제벡계수(Seebeck coefficient), ${\sigma}$는 전기전도도(electrical conductivity), ${\kappa}$는 열전도도(thermal conductivity), T는 Kelvin 온도를 나타낸다. 500 K에서 800 K까지의 중온 영역에서 우수한 열전특성을 보이는 $Mg_2X$ (X=Si, Ge, Sn)와 이들의 고용체는 성분원소가 독성이 없고, 매장량이 많아 친환경 열전 재료로 각광받고 있다. $Mg_2X$ 고용체 중 $Mg_2Si_{1-x}Ge_x$는 기존 $Mn_2Si$, $Mg_2Ge$, $Mg_2Sn$계 보다 더 우수한 열전 성능지수를 보인다. 다양한 제조 방법들이 시도되고 있으나, 조성설계 및 구조, 성능 조절의 어려움이 있고, Mg의 산화와 휘발 및 Mg, Si, Ge의 융점 차이가 크고 중력 편석과 반응하지 않은 원소들로 인해 제조가 상당히 어렵다. Sb가 도핑된 $Mg_2Si_{0.5}Ge_{0.5}Sb_y$ (y=0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03) 고용체를 고상반응으로 합성하고 진공열간 압축성형을 통해 성공적으로 제조하였다. 고용 상을 확인하기 위하여 X선 회절분석을 실시하였고, 고용체 형성과 도핑에 따른 전기적 특성변화를 평가하기 위해 Hall 효과를 측정하여 전자 이동특성을 분석하였고, 323~823 K까지 전기전도도, 제벡계수, 열전도도의 측정을 통해 열전 성능지수를 평가하였다.

  • $CaTiO_3$-$ La(Mg_{2/3}Ta_{1/3})O_3$ solid solutions were prepared in order to improve the microwave dielectric properties of $CaTiO_3$. XRD analysis revealed that the crystal structure of the solid solution changed from orthorhombic to monoclinic as the amount of $ La(Mg_{2/3}Ta_{1/3})O_3$increased. When x=0.3 in (1-x)$CaTiO_3+xLa(Mg_{2/3}Ta_{1/3})O_3$, the dielectric constant was 49, the temperature coefficient of resonance frequency was +$14ppm/^{\circ}C$, and $Q \times f_0$ was 17000.

Solid-Phase Extraction of Caffeine and Catechin Compounds from Green Tea by Caffeine Molecular Imprinted Polymer

  • In this work, caffeine and some catechin compounds + C, EC, EGC, and EGCG were extracted from green tea by using molecular imprinted polymers (MIP) as sorbent materials in a solid-phase extraction (SPE) process known as MISPE (molecular imprinted solid-phase extraction). For synthesis of MIP, caffeine was employed as the template, MAA as the monomer, EGDMA as the crosslinker, and AIBN as the initiator. A solution of caffeine (0.2 mg/mL in methanol) was utilized in the solid extraction cartridges following loading, washing, and elution procedures with acetonitrile, methanol, and methanol-acetic acid (90/10, %v/v) as the solvents, respectively. This solid-phase extraction protocol was applied for the extraction of caffeine and some catechin compounds from green tea. A comparison was made between the results obtained with the MIP cartridges and a traditional C18 reversed-phase cartridge. It was thereupon found that the recovery of caffeine by the MIPbased sorbent used in this work was almost two and four times greater than that by a commercially available C18 material. A quantitative analysis was conducted by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using a C18 column (5 μm, 250 × 4.6 mm) with methanol/water (40/60, %v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min.

Characteristics of Cadmium Biosorption and Desorption by Brown Marine Algae (갈색해조류에 의한 카드뮴의 흡착 및 탈착 특성)

  • The biosorption and desorption of Cd were carried out using brown marine algae, known as the good biosorbent of heavy metals. The content of alginate bound to light metals could be changed by the physical and the chemical pretreatment of Sargassum fluitans biomass. The Cd uptake was independent of the alginate content. In case of protonated biomass, Cd uptake was the lowest because the alginic acid of biomass was dissolved to cadmium solution during the biosorption. The maximum Cd uptake of Sargassum biomass was ranged from 79 mg/g to 139 mg/g. In case of raw biomass, the higher the alginate content of biomass, the higher was the Cd uptake. 100% of Cd and light metals sorbed in the biomass were eluted at 0.1N HCI(pH 1.1). However, the elution efficiency in $CaCl_2$ and $Ca{(NO_3)}_2$solution was varied by the concentration, the solid to liquid ratio and the pH of calcium solution. The distribution coefficient between Cd and protons in the desorption solution at pH ranged from 1.6 to 2.9 was observed on the constant stoichometric coefficient(1.3).

  • Effect of agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ of the same primary particle size on formation reaction and sintering of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}\;Nb_{2/3})O_3$ was examined. Both solid state reaction and molten salt synthesis were adopted. With decreasing agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ increased the rate of formation reaction of perovskite PMN in solid state reaction, but had little influence in molten salt synthesis. It was concluded that the increase in the inhomogeneity of the dispersion state of intermediate pyrochlore with increasing agglomeration of $Nb_20_5$ retarded the formation reaction of perovskite PMN in solid state reaction, while had little influnce in molten salt synthesis due to its solution - precipitation mechanism -mainly depends on powder surface area.

  • This study has investigated the effects of aging treatment on thc nlechanical propcrries of blg-iiAl-x%nix - 0.1.2) alloys fabricated by the squeeze castmg process. The microstructurcs of as-squeeze cast were composed of pro eurectic $\alpha$ magnesium solid solution, super saturated $\alpha$ solid solution and $\beta(Mg_{17}AI_{12}$) compund. Agcd at both $200^{\circ}C$ and $240^{\circ}C$, Mg--6AixZn alloys showed the peak hardness due to the formation of $\beta(Mg_{17}AI_{12}$) precipitates. The tiiscontinuous precipitates of the lamella r\.pe are predominant at $200^{\circ}C$ aging tredrment. tvhilc. the finely dispersed continu ous precipitates were major type at $240^{\circ}C$ treatment. Mg-- GAI-xZn a1loi.s fabricated hy the squeeze casting process had the hetter combination of tensile strength and elongation compared to the conventionally cast alloys. As increascci zinc: contents. the tensile strength was increased 11y the soiid solutirin strengthening effect of zinc,.

  • Nano- sized spherical $MgB_2$ Powders were synthesized by spray Pyrolysis method. The Influence of solution concentration and furnace reaction temperature on morphology and average particle size were investigated. For adequate preparation conditions, it has mostly spherical, solid and narrow particle size distribution. Average particle size$(X_{50})$ distribution was below 100 nm. The critical temperature for the synthesized $MgB_2$ was around 36K.

  • Alumium alloys hot forging process are gaining increased acceptance in the automotive and electronic industries and hot forging is one of the most efficient manufacturing method for mass product parts. It has been investigated the microstructures and mechanical properties of Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg (KNT40-T6)alloy fabricated by hot forging process for development of connecting rod in this study. The microstructure of hot forged specimen was composed of eutectic structure of alumimum solid solution and $Mg_2Si$ precipitates. The tensile strength of solutionized Al-11.7Si-0.5Mg alloy was 217MPa. This alloy showed a good corrosion resistance using electrochemical polarization test.
