Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of death and disability worldwide and one of the most prevalent diseases in Korea. We examined trends and risk factors of health care utilization for COPD in Korea. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the database of Patient Surveys from 1990 through 2008, which were nationwide surveys of health services utilization through outpatient department (OPD) visits and hospitalization. Physician-diagnosed COPD patients whose ages were 45 years and older were included. Results: OPD visits and hospitalization of COPD patients between 1990 and 2008 were estimated to be 68,552 and 17,774 persons, respectively. Trends in OPD visits and hospitalization for COPD significantly increased from 1990 through 2008 (p=0.019, p=0.001, respectively). The increment rate for OPD visits was 2.0 fold over those years; for hospitalization it was 3.3 fold. Risk factors for OPD visits for COPD were male gender (odd ration [OR], 1.41; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.39~1.43), those aged 65 years and older (OR, 1.50; 95% CI, 1.47~1.53), residential area other than a metropolis (OR, 1.08; 95% CI, 1.07~1.010) and access to a physician's office (OR, 1.17; 95% CI, 1.14~1.21). Risk factors for hospitalization were male gender (OR, 2.15; 95% CI, 2.07~2.23), those aged 65 year and older (OR, 2.86; 95% CI, 2.72~3.00), residential area other than a metropolis (OR, 1.98; 95% CI, 1.90~2.07) and access to a hospital (OR, 2.88; 95% CI, 2.59~3.22) (p<0.001, both). Conclusion: Health care utilization for COPD subjects increased from 1990 to 2008. Risk factors for the utilization were male gender, older age, and residential area other than a metropolis.

Walter Benjamin's unique concept of the aura is mainly presented in his three essays, Little History of Photography(1931), The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction(1935-1939), and On Some Motifs in Baudelaire(1939), whereas the studies on this concept are principally conducted on the basis of the first two essays. But considering Benjamin elaborated the concept through Baudelaire studies, the aura needs to be reexamined on the axis of "On Some Motifs in Baudelaire". He approached Baudelaire studies in one of the essential items for The Arcades Project at first. These studies acquired a new prospect soon after he mapped out these studies for an independent book in 1938. His Baudelaire studies come to fruition in On Some Motifs in Baudelaire, written one year after The Paris of the Second Empire in Baudelaire(1938). For Benjamin, Baudelaire is not only a poet who sharply testified to the age of the decay of aura, but also the one who elaborated new poetic motifs such as the metropolis, the crowd: the poet searched for his poems in the crowd of the metropolis, by accepting as poetic nourishment all sorts of experiences of the impact of daily occurrunces in Paris. In On Some Motifs in Baudelaire, the aura is defined as the response of a gaze, that is, the capability to gaze on something. It is principally a poetic capacity to give the capability of opening the eyes to an animal, or even to an inanimate object. If a gaze is responded by the other for which the gaze is placed upon, we experience the other's own aura. The media of the mechanical reproduction (such as the photography, the film) give rise to the decay of aura, because the expectation of returning one's gaze becomes frustrated from the outset.

We describe a hierarchical bayesian model to analyze multinomial nonignorable nonresponse data. Using a Dirichlet and beta prior to model the cell probabilities, We develop a complete hierarchical bayesian analysis for multinomial proportions without making any algebraic approximation. Inference is sampling based and Markove chain Monte Carlo methods are used to perform the computations. We apply our method to the dta on body mass index(BMI) and show the model works reasonably well.

본 연구에서는 관심거리가 되고 있는 마코프인쇄 몬테칼로(Markov Chain Monte Carlo, MCMC)방법에 근거한 공간 확률난수 (spatial random variate)생성법과 깁스표본추출법(Gibbs sampling)에 의한 베이지안 분석 방법에 대한 기술적 사항들에 관하여 검토하였다. 먼저 기본적인 확률난수 생성법과 관련된 사항을 살펴보고, 다음으로 조건부명시법(conditional specification)을 이용한 공간 확률난수 생성법을 예를 들어 살펴보기로한다. 다음으로는 이렇게 생성된 공간자료를 분석하기 위하여 깁스표본추출법을 이용한 베이지안 사후분포를 구하는 방법을 살펴보았다.

본 연구에서는 우리나라 대도시 경관조명의 유형 및 특성을 분석하여, 경관조명 디자인에 필요한 기초자료를 얻고자 한다. 일간지의 관련기사를 분석한 결과, 서울특별시와 부산광역시는 경관조명의 유형이 다양하였으며 공간적 범위 또한 시 전역에 분포하고 있었으나, 그 외 5개 광역시는 경관조명의 연출이 부족하였다. 그리고 우리나라 대도시의 경관조명 중 가장 일반적인 유형은 교량의 경관조명이었다.

This paper considers a Bayesian approach to modeling a flexible regression function under structural measurement error model. The regression function is modeled based on semiparametric regression with penalized splines. Model fitting and parameter estimation are carried out in a hierarchical Bayesian framework using Markov chain Monte Carlo methodology. Their performances are compared with those of the estimators under structural measurement error model without a semiparametric component.

A Markov Chain Monte Carlo method with development of computation is used to be the software system reliability probability model. For Bayesian estimator considering computational problem and theoretical justification we studies relation Markov Chain with Gibbs sampling. Special case of GOS with Superposition for Goel-Okumoto and Weibull models using Gibbs sampling and Metropolis algorithm considered. In this paper discuss Bayesian computation and model selection using posterior predictive likelihood criterion. We consider in this paper data using method by Cox-Lewis. A numerical example with a simulated data set is given.

This paper is concerned with semiparametric Bayesian analysis of the proportional intensity regression model of the Poisson process for multiple event time data. A nonparametric prior distribution is put on the baseline cumulative intensity function and a usual parametric prior distribution is given to the regression parameter. Also we allow heterogeneity among the intensity processes in different subjects by using unobserved random frailty components. Gibbs sampling approach with the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm is used to explore the posterior distributions. Finally, the results are applied to a real data set.

Based on progressive Type II censored sampling which is an important method to obtain failure data in a lifetime study, we suggest a very general form of Bayesian prediction bounds from two parameters exponentiated Weibull distribution using the proper general prior density. For this, Markov chain Monte Carlo approach is considered and we also provide a simulation study.
