In order to investigate processes and factors controlling the chemical and isotopic compositions of the Han River, seasonal studies were carried out. The North Han River was much lower in the concentrations of total dissolved solids (TDS), dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and major ions than the South Han River, but higher in $SiO_2$ concentration, $\delta$$^{34}$$S_{so4}$ value and $^{87}$ Sr/$^{86}$ Sr ratio. This indicates that the chemical and isotopic compositions of the Han River were strongly controlled by the geology of their drainage basins: silicate rocks in the North Han River and carbonate rocks in the South Han River. The $\delta$$^{34}$$S_{so4}$ values were relatively higher in the North Han River (5.90$\pm$1.46$\textperthousand$)) than in the South Han River (3.48$\pm$0.73$\textperthousand$). This implies that dissolved S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ in the North Han River might be mostly derived from deposition of atmospheric sulfates, whereas in the South Han River from oxidation of sulfide minerals in the abandoned poly-metallic deposits and the coal-bearing sedimentary rocks distributed over the upstream as well as deposition of atmospheric sulfates. The $^{87}$ S $r^{86}$ Sr ratios in the North Han River were distinctly higher than those in the South Han River, reflecting water-rock interaction with different rock types.pes.
Corrosion and passivation of metallic cobalt was studied by means of electrochemical experiments including potentiostatic and galvanostatic measurements and cyclic voltammograms. The mechanisms of active dissolution and passivation of cobalt at the metal/borate buffer solution interface are deduced from the Tafel slope, pH dependence of the Flade potential, and dissolution kinetic data. Hydroxyl group adsorbed on cobalt surface seems to participate in surface oxidation and formation of the passive layer. The growth kinetic data as measured by the current density suggests a mechanism in which the growth of the passive layer is determined by field-assisted transport of ions through the layer. Thickness of the passive layer was estimated by coulometry to be about 10${\AA}$ at the lowest passive potential and to grow gradually with anodic potential to about 20${\AA}$.
The oxidation behavior of the crystallized $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy has been investigated with an aim to compare with that of the amorphous $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy. The oxidation at 873 K occurs as follows: (1) growth of an amorphous aluminum-yttrium oxide layer (~10 nm) after heating up to 873 K; and (2) formation of $YAlO_3$ crystalline oxide (~220 nm) after annealing for 30 hours at 873 K. Such an overall oxidation step indicates that the oxidation behavior in the crystallized $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy occurs in the same way as in the amorphous $Al_{87}Ni_3Y_{10}$ alloy. The simultaneous presence of aluminum and yttrium in the oxide layer significantly enhances the thermal stability of the amorphous structure in the oxide phase. Since the structure of aluminum-yttrium oxide is dense due to the large difference in ionic radius between aluminum and yttrium ions, the diffusion of oxygen ion through the amorphous oxide layer is limited thus stabilizing the amorphous structure of the oxide phase.
Flotation processes involve the use of very small bubbles (micro-bubbles) to separate particles from water. The process has become a good alternative to sedimentation, especially where the particles are small or of low density. Although the flotation process commences with a collision between particles and bubbles, most research has been focused only on the characteristics of the particles. In this paper, recent theoretical and experimental research on the characteristics of bubbles is summarized. The effect on the collision efficiency of the size and charge of bubbles is calculated through trajectory analysis. The size and charge of bubbles are measured under different conditions and the ramifications of the results are discussed. The results may lead to a better understanding and optimization of the existing process. In particular, we discuss an idea that a new advanced flotation process might be possible by the modification of the characteristics of the bubble alone or of both bubble and particle.

Resistive random access memory (ReRAM) of metallic conduction channel mechanism is based on the electrochemical control of metal in solid electrolyte thin film. Amorphous chalcogenide materials have the solid electrolyte characteristic and optical reactivity at the same time. The optical reactivity has been used to improve the memory switching characteristics of the amorphous $As_2Se_3$-based ReRAM. This study focuses on the formation of holographic lattices patterns in the amorphous $As_2Se_3$ thin film for straight conductive channel. The optical parameters of amorphous $As_2Se_3$ thin film which is a refractive index and extinction coefficient was taken by n&k thin film analyzer. He-Cd laser (wavelength: 325 nm) was selected based on these basic optical parameters. The straighten conduction channel was formed by holographic lithography method using He-Cd laser.$ Ag^+$ ions that photo-diffused periodically by holographic lithography method will be the role of straight channel patterns. The fabricated ReRAM operated more less voltage and indicated better reliability.
The purified phosphoric acid was recovered from crude phosphoric acid with high contents of aluminium and molybdenum ions to reuse the acid as an etchant. In this work, solvent extraction was applied to recover the phosphoric acid from crude phosphoric acid. Phosphate was used as an extractant. Further cleaning and removing processes on the recovered phosphoric acid were conducted to eliminate the metallic ion impurities in the acid. The process parameters were successfully optimized, so that the finally purified acid contained less than 1 ppm of aluminium and molybdenum ion.
A series of samples in the Sm1-xSrxCoO3-y(x=0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00) system has been prepared at 1200 ℃ under ambient atmosphere. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples with x=0.00 and 0.25 are indexed with orthorhombic symmetry like GdFeO3 and x=0.50 appears to be perfectly cubic. In the tetragonal system (x=0.75), the structure is similar to that of SrCoO2.80. The composition of x=1.00, SrCoO2.52, shows the brownmillerite-type structure. The reduced lattice volume is increased with x value in this system. The chemical analysis shows the τ value (the amount of the Co4+ ions in the system) is maximized at the composition of x=0.50. Nonstoichiometric chemical formulas are determined by the x, τ and y values. The electrical conductivity has been measured in the temperature range of 78 to 1000 K. The activation energy is minimum for those of x=0.25 and x=0.50 with metallic behavior. First-order semiconductor-to-metal transition of SmCoO3 is not observed. Instead, a broad, high-order semiconductor-to-metal transition is observed. In general, the effective magnetic moment is increased with increasing τ values at low temperature. At high temperature, the magnetic moment is maximum for that of x=0.00. The 3d-electrons are collective and give ferromagnetism in x=0.50.

Voltammetric behavior of heavy lanthanide ions has been investigated by the DC, DPP and CV in acetonitrile solution. The reduction of $Gd^{3+}, Tb^{3+}, Dy^{3+}, Ho^{3+}, Er^{3+}, Tm^{3+} 및 Lu^{3+} proceed by three-electron change to the metallic state with totally irreversibility in 0.1M tetraethylammonium perchlorate. However, the reduction of Yb(Ⅲ) proceeds in two steps $(Yb^{3+} + e^- \Leftrightarrow Yb^{2+} and Yb^{2+} + 2e^- → Yb^0)$. The first reduction of Yb(Ⅲ) showed quasi reversible behavior, but the second reduction was irreversible in cyclic voltammetry. The cathodic peak current showed adsorptive properties in high concentration with lower sweep rate. The electroreduction of heavy lanthanides in water-acetonitrile mixture has been studied. In water-acetonitrile mixture, the negative shift of the peak potential and the decrease peak current were observed increasing water concentration. Also the Yb(Ⅲ) reduction to Yb(Ⅲ) has been deviated from quasi-reversible character with increase water amount. These results drive from the high solvation abilities of water which has high donor number.
Nitrogen ion implantation and ion plating techniques were applied for improvement of the wear resistance of metallic implant materials. In this work, the wear dissolution behaviour of a nitrogen ion implanted super stainless steel (S.S.S, 22Cr-20Ni-6Mo-0.25N) was compared with those of S.S.S, 316L SS and TiN coated 316L SS. The amounts of Cr and Ni ions worn-out from the specimens were Investigated using an electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. Furthermore, the Ti(Grade 2) disks were coated with TiN, ZrN and TiCN by use of low temperature arc vapor deposition and the wear resistance of the coating layers was compared with that of titanium. The chemical compositions of the nitrogen ion implanted and nitride coated layers were examined with a scanting auger electron spectroscopy. It wat observed that the metal ions released from the nitrogen ion implanted S.S.S surface were significantly reduced. From the results obtained, it was shown that the nitrogen ion implanted zone obtained with 100 KeV ion energy was easily removed within 200,000 revolutions from a wear dissolution testing under a similar load condition when applied to artificial hip joint. The remarkable improvement in wear resistance weir confirmed by the nitrides coated Ti materials and the wear properties differ greatly according to the chemical composition of the coating layers. for specimens with the same coating thickness of about 3$\mu\textrm{m}$, TiCN coated Ti showed the highest wear resistance. However, after removing the coating layers, the wear rates of all nitrides coated Ti reverted to their normal rates of below 10,000 revolutions from Ti-disk-on-disk wear testing under the same load condition. From the results obtained, it is suggested that the insufficient depth of the 100 Kel N$\^$+/ ion implanted zone and of the nitrides coated layers of 3$\mu\textrm{m}$ are subject to restriction when used as frictional parts of load bearing implants.
In this study, the PVdF/MGO composite nanofiber membranes (PMGs) introducing Iron oxide-Graphene oxide ($Fe_3O_4/GO$, Metallic graphene oxide; MGO) was prepared via electrospinng method and its arsenic removal characteristics were investigated. The thermal treatment was carried out to improve the mechanical strength of nanofiber membranes and then the results showed that of outstanding improvement effect. However, in case of PMGs, the decreasing tendency of mechanical strength was indicated as increasing MGO contents. From the results of pore-size analysis, it was confirmed that the porous structured membranes with 0.3 to $0.45{\mu}m$ were prepared. For the water treatment application, the water flux measurement was carried out. In particular, PMG2.0 sample showed about 70% improved water flux results ($153kg/m^2h$) compared to that of pure PVdF nanofiber membrane ($91kg/m^2h$) under the 0.3 bar condition. In addition, the PMGs have indicated the high removal rates of both As(III) and As(V) (up to 81% and 68%, respectively). Based on the adsorption isotherm analysis, the adsorption of As(III) and As(V) ions were both more suitable for the Freundlich. From all of results, it was concluded that PVdF/MGO composite nanofiber membranes could be utilized as a water treatment membrane and for the Arsenic removal applications.
