건성마찰 소음에 대한 부식 영향도 실험연구 (An Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Corrosion on Dry Friction Noise)

  • 본 연구에서는 왕복운동 및 회전운동 마찰 실험장치를 이하여 부식금속의 마찰소음특성을 파악하였다. 그 결과 부식금속이 소음발생 시키고 마찰소음의 크기를 증가시키는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 마찰소음에서 부식의 영향은 마찰표면의 변화로부터 기인하는 것을 관찰할 수 있다. 마찰이 지속적으로 발생될 때 부식금속 마찰계수의 음의 기울기가 증가하여 부식이 되지 않은 금속에 비해 상대적으로 빠르게 불안정해 질 수 있음을 확인하였다.

박물관 실내 대기오염물질에 의한 금속 부식 영향 (The metal corrosion caused by museum indoor air pollutants)

  • 본 연구에서는 박물관 내장재료, 유물포장시 사용되는 포장재료에서 나오는 실내대기오염물질로 챔버 테스트 및 오디 테스트를 실시하였다. 오디 테스트 결과 금속에 따라서 목재나 시멘트에 의해 부식되는 형태가 다르게 나타난다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 금속의 부식에 가장 많은 영향을 미친 목질제품은 18T HS(E0)와 9mm합판(F0,E0)이었으며, 시멘트는 6개월이 지난 시멘트였다. 유해가스 챔버 테스트 결과 대부분의 시편에서 부식이 관찰되었으며, 특히 포름산, 아세트산, 아세트알데히드에서 철, 구리, 청동시편의 부식이 심각하게 진행되었다. 포장재의 폭로실험에서는 저습의 조건에서 표면적으로 큰 변화가 나타나지 않으나, 고습의 조건에서는 금속 시편이 변색되거나 부식되는 현상이 나타났다.

염수 환경에서 Inconel 718의 국부 부식 거동 (Localized Corrosion Behavior of Inconel 718 in a Chloride-Containing Aqueous Solution)

  • Localized corrosion behavior of Ni-based Inconel 718 alloy was investigated by electrochemical anodic polarization techniques in NACE TM 0177 A solution of 5 wt% NaCl + 0.5 wt% acetic acid at room temperature. After the solution heat treated at 1080 ℃ for 2.5 h, Inconel 718 was age-hardened at 780 ℃ for 8 h. The microstructure of the alloy surface was investigated by optical microscopic or scanning electron microscopic technique. The austenitic phase with the presence of metal carbides was observed on the surface of Inconel 718. Metal-carbides such as Nb-Mo and Ti-carbide with diameters of approximately 10 and 3 ㎛, respectively, were formed in Inconel 718. Anodic polarization results revealed that localized corrosion was observed at the interface between austenitic phase of a substrate and metal carbides. Difference in electrochemical property between a metal carbide and an austenitic substrate could provide an initiation site for localized corrosion of Inconel 718 surface.

EVALUATION OF GALVANIC CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF SA-508 LOW ALLOY STEEL AND TYPE 309L STAINLESS STEEL CLADDING OF REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL UNDER SIMULATED PRIMARY WATER ENVIRONMENT

  • The article presented is concerned with an evaluation of the corrosion behavior of SA-508 low alloy steel (LAS) and Type 309L stainless steel (SS) cladding of a reactor pressure vessel under the simulated primary water chemistry of a pressurized water reactor (PWR). The uniform corrosion and galvanic corrosion rates of SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS were measured in three different control conditions: power operation, shutdown, and power operation followed by shutdown. In all conditions, the dissimilar metal coupling of SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS exhibited higher corrosion rates than the SA-508 base metal itself due to severe galvanic corrosion near the cladding interface, while the corrosion of Type 309L in the primary water environment was minimal. The galvanic corrosion rate of the SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS couple measured under the simulated power operation condition was much lower than that measured in the simulated shutdown condition due to the formation of magnetite on the metal surface in a reducing environment. Based on the experimental results, the corrosion rate of SA-508 LAS clad with Type 309L SS was estimated as a function of operating cycle simulated for a typical PWR.

차량용 스프링강재의 압축잔류응력이 부식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Compressive Residual Stress of Spring Steel for Vehicle on Corrosion)

  • Shot peening can be defined as the process of work hardening of the surface of components by means of propelled stream of spherical shot. Benefits due to shot peening are increase in resistance to fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, fretting, galling, erosion and closing of pores. In this study, the influence of shot peening on the corrosion was investigated on spring steel immersed in $3.5\%\;NaCl$. The immersion test was performed on the two kinds of specimens. Corrosion potential, polarization curve, residual stress and etc. were investigated from experimental results. From test results, the effect of shot peening on the corrosion was evaluated. The important results of the experimental study on the effects of shot peened spring steels on the environment corrosion are as follows; In case of corrosion potential, shot peened specimen shows more activated negative direction as compared with parent metal. Surface of specimen, which is treated with the shot peened, is placed as more activated state against inner base metal. It can cause the anti-corrosion effect on the base metal.

Corrosion Characteristics of Welding Zones by Laser and TIG Welding of 304 Stainless Steel

  • Two types of welding methods were performed on austenitic 304 stainless steel: laser welding and TIG welding. The differences of the corrosion characteristics of the welded zones from the two welding methods were investigated with electrochemical methods, such as measurement of the corrosion potential, polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram, etc. The vickers hardness of all laser-welded zones (WM:Weld Metal, HAZ:Heat Affected Zone, BM:Base Metal) was relatively higher while their corrosion current densities exhibited a comparatively lower value than those which were TIG welded. In particular, the corrosion current density of the TIG-welded HAZ had the highest value among all other welding zones, which suggests that chromium depletion due to the formation of chromium carbide occurs in the HAZ, which is in the sensitization temperature range, thus it can easily be corroded with an active anode. Intergrenular corrosion was also observed at the TIG-welded HAZ and WM zones. Consequently, we can see that corrosion resistance of all austenitic 304 stainless steel welding zones can be improved via the use of laser welding.

Al-Cu 금속 배선 부식 개선을 위한 공정조건 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Process Conditions Optimization for Al-Cu Metal Line Corrosion Improvement)

  • 반도체에 사용되는 금속 배선으로써 Al-Cu 합금은 낮은 저항과 제조 공정의 용이성으로 인해 CMOS제조 공정에 있어 수년간 사용되어 왔다. 그러나 금속은 근본적으로 부식에 취약하기 때문에 금속 배선 제조 공정에 있어 부식은 오랜 숙제로 남아 있다. 부식은 칩의 신뢰성 문제를 유발하기 때문에 이를 제어할 보다 효과적인 방법이 요구 되고 있다. 부식을 유발하는 다양한 항목 중에 금속 배선 식각 후 PR 스트립과 후속 세정 조건은 조절 가능한 파라미터이며, 또한 부식을 방지할 수 있는 마진을 향상할 수 있는 요소이다. 본 연구는 부식을 방지하기 위해 PR 스트립 공정 조건 및 후속 세정 조건을 최적화함으로써 금속 배선 식각 후 염소 잔유물과 플라즈마 charge up을 제거해야 함을 제안 하였다.

  • We observed initial rusting process of steel containing Al under wet/dry cyclic condition with NaCl solution film using in situ X-ray diffraction spectroscopy at SPring-8 synchrotron radiation facility. It was found that mass fraction of iron oxides such as ${\alpha}-FeOOH$, ${\beta}-FeOOH$ and ${\gamma}-FeOOH$ varied with Al content. Some kinds of Al oxides were also found at the initial stage of corrosion. Those corrosion products might affect the corrosion process and corrosion rate of the steel.

  • 최근 전력구동 수송수단의 보편화로 그 주변에서 발생하는 누설전류로 인한 지하 금속매설물의 전기부식 문제의 심각성이 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 전식에 대한 이론적인 개념과 구체적인 현상을 확인하고 전력구동 수송시스템에서 전식을 최소화할 수 있는 전기화학적 방안에 대하여 연구하였다.

  • The purpose of this study was to evalute the corrosion resistance of chemically and thermally recycled metal brackets. In vivo, two types of recycled metal brackets and new brackets were directly bonded for 1 year, and then the microstructure of bracket surface was examined by S.E.M. (J.S.M.-840 Scanning Electron Microscope, Japan). The following results were obtained. 1) The microstructure of new and chemically recycled metal bracket surfaces showed regular structure without island formation and recrystallization; and after 1 year, the same appearance except some scratches. 2) The microstructure of thermally recycled metal bracket surfaces showed a beginning of island formation and recrystallization by annealing, and after 1 year, a typical corrosive appearance, completely island formation with some metal grains by recrystallization. 3) Chemically recycled metal brackets showed better corrosion resistance than thermally recycled metal brackets.
