일정 변위 진폭조건에서의 은도금한 커넥터의 미동마멸부식 거동 (Fretting Corrosion Behavior of Silver-Plated Electric Connectors with Constant Displacement Amplitude)

  • Fretting corrosion tests are conducted with a constant displacement amplitude using silver-plated brass coupons to investigate the effect of contact pressure on fretting corrosion. Three behaviors are identified based on the change in electric resistance and friction coefficient during the fretting test period, and the identified behaviors are dependent on the magnitude of the applied load. The failure cycle ($N_f$) with an electric resistance of 0.1 D cannot be achieved due to the adhesion behavior of the metal and metal contact under the higher applied load of 0.45 N. This suggests that an average contact pressure higher than 159 MPa for the silver-coated connector is desirable to gain an almost infinite lifetime. The relationship between the electric contact resistance (R) and the average contact pressure (p) can be written as $p=106.2{\times}{\Omega}^{-1.5}$.

23GHz대 저잡음 증폭기의 제작기술에 관한 연구 (A study on the fabrication techologies for the 23GHz LNAs)

  • A 23GHz 1-stage LNA was designed by using new topology of coupled line type with EEsof softwares and modified by using MPIE numerical analysis. The parallel coupled filter-type matching sections give impedance matching and DC blocking simultaneously, and have small discontinuities. This matching scheme has simple structure in the design process and give small error. The EFT chip was directly attached to the ground metal. The designed LAN gives 6.2dB gain and 2.5dB noise figure without considering the loss of connectors. Through these results, it was verified that our design process, matching schemes and fabrication technologies was valied for developing 20GHz-band LNA.

23GHz대 1단 저잡음 증폭기의 설계 기술에 관한 연구 (A study on the design technologies for the 1-state 23GHz LNAs)

  • The 23GHz 1-state LNA was designed by using MPIE numerical analysis and conventional design EEsof softwares. The circuit was designed using conventional tools but analyzed and modified by using numerical MPIE tools. he matching sections was designed with parallel coupled filter-type, which gives impedance matching and DC blocking and has small discontinuities. THe FET chip is directly attached to the graound metal. The designed LNA gives 5.8dB gain and 2.5dB noise figure withoug considering the loss and impedance shift of connectors that degenerate the gain and noise figure considerably. this results gives very promising characteristics for our design process and matching schemes and fabrication technologies.

  • 최근 이동통신 서비스가 확대됨에 따라 인접 기지국간의 간섭문제가 증가하게 되었으며, 그에 따라 CDMA 시스템의 active IMD뿐만 아니라 PIMD(Passive Inter-Modulation Distortion)에 대한 문제도 시스템 설계 시 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 RF connector 중 대표적 connector인 7/16" DIN connector를 통하여 동축선에서의 PIMD 발생원인 분석을 위한 다양한 표면조도 및 도금두께, 도금재질을 갖는 어댑터를 설계, 제작하여 PIMD 발생 정도를 분석하였고, PIMD 개선 방안을 제안하였다. 첫째, 대부분의 전류가 통과하는 경로에는 표면조도가 좋은 금속이 전도율이 좋아 유리하며, 둘째, RF 에너지가 충분히 한 매질에서 통과할 수 있도록 최소 $5{\mu}m$ 이상으로 도금을 해야 함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 도금 재료의 노화현상 방지를 위해 비열이 높고 전도율이 높은 금속 선택이 필수적이며, 비용절감 면에서는 삼원합금 등 대체 도금 재질 개발이 요구됨을 알 수 있었다. 현재 국내 PIMD 규격인 KTF-150dBc를 만족시키기 위해서는 7/16" DIN connector의 경우 도금재질에 관계없이 표면조도 6S, 도금두께 $5{\mu}m$일 때 KTF의 PIMD 규격을 만족시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Housing and insulation of electrical connectors are made of plastic resin by injection molding process. The metallic inner tube is easily deformed by high pressure during the injection process. In order to prevent deformation of the inner tube, it is desirable to simulate it by structural CAE analysis. However, it takes a long time to calculate the stress- of the part by commercially available injection molding CAE software with sufficient accuracy. In this study, structural analysis in conjunction with injection molding analysis is proposed to improve accuracy of the structural analysis. Pressure distribution on the inner tube is predicted by the injection molding CAE analysis, and then mapped onto the mesh of structural analysis by a mapping algorithm developed in this study. As a result reliable result is obtained in shorter time than the conventional method. The predicted deformation of the inner tube is compared with the actual part after experiment.

  • MPIE 수치해석적 기법과 초고주파대 CAD 소프트웨 어 인 EEsof를 활용하여 2단 23 GHz대 저잡음 증폭기를 설계하였다 이 회로는 먼저 EEsof를 이용하여 기초 설계를 하고 MPIE 기볍에 의해 수정과 상세 해석을 실시 하는 방법으로 하였다. 입.출력단의 정합 부분은 평행 결합 여파기 형태로 하였는데 이는 임피던스 정합과 DC 차단을 동시에 실시할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 불연속 부분이 적고 설계시 해석의 오차가 적은 장점을 가지고 있다. FET칩은 접지 급속 변에서 직접 부착하였다. 제작된 증폭기는 이득이 콘넥터 손실 1.8 dB를 고려하지 않은 상태에서 15.2 dB, 잡음지수가 2.7 dB를 나타냈다. 이와 같은 결과는 본 논문에서 사용한 설계 기법과 정합 기술이 20 GHz대 이상의 회로설계 및 제작에 적합하다고 할 수 있다.

A new type notched slab approach for timber-concrete composite construction: Experimental and numerical investigation

  • Timber-Concrete Composite construction system consists of combining timber beam or deck and concrete with different connectors. Different fastener types are used in Timber-Concrete Composite systems. In this paper, the effects of two types of fasteners on structural behavior are compared. First, the notches were opened on timber beam, and combined with reinforced concrete slab by fasteners. This system is called as Notched Connection System. Then, timber beam and reinforced concrete slab were combined by new type designed fasteners in another model. This system is called as Notched-Slab Approach. Two laboratory models were constructed and bending tests were performed to examine the fasteners' effectiveness. Bending test results have shown that heavy damage to concrete slab occurs in Notched Connection System applications and the system becomes unusable. However, in Notched-Slab Approach applications, the damage concentrated on the fastener in the metal notch created in the slab, and no damage occurred in the concrete slab. In addition, non-destructive experimental measurements were conducted to determine the dynamic characteristics. To validate the experimental results, initial finite element models of both systems were constituted in ANSYS software using orthotropic material properties, and numerical dynamic characteristics were calculated. Finite element models of Timber-Concrete Composite systems are updated to minimize the differences by manual model updating procedure using some uncertain parameters such as material properties and boundary conditions.

Multi-physics analysis for the design and development of micro-thermoelectric coolers

  • A rigorous research is underway in our team, for the design and development of high figure of merits (ZT= 1.5${\sim}$2.0) micro-thermoelectric coolers. This paper discusses the fabrication process that we are using for developing the $Sb_2Te_3-Bi_2Te_3$ micro-thermoelectric cooling modules. It describes how to obtain the mechanical properties of the thin film TEC elements and reports the results of an equation-based multiphysics modeling of the micro-TEC modules. In this study the thermoelectric thin films were deposited on Si substrates using co-sputtering method. The physical mechanical properties of the prepared films were measured by nanoindentation testing method while the thermal and electrical properties required for modeling were obtained from existing literature. A finite element model was developed using an equation-based multiphysics modeling by the commercial finite element code FEMLAB. The model was solved for different operating conditions. The temperature and the stress distributions in the P and N elements of the TEC as well as in the metal connector were obtained. The temperature distributions of the system obtained from simulation results showed good agreement with the analytical results existing in literature. In addition, it was found that the maximum stress in the system occurs at the bonding part of the TEC i.e. between the metal connectors and TE elements of the module.

용접방법에 의한 타이타늄 연결부의 기계적 성질에 관한 연구 (MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF TITANIUM CONNECTORS TREATED BY VARIOUS WELDING TECHNIQUES)

  • The use of pure titanium and titanium alloys have been increased recently in fixed, removable prosthodontics and implant fields as a framework. But when they were used for superstructures of implant or metal framework of removable prosthesis, welding is necessary to reconnect the fracture site to control the casting distortions. To overcome the difficulties in soldering the titanium due to high oxidation property, much effort have been devoted. In this study, some of mechanical properties were compared between pure titanium and Ti-6Al-4V alloy by using after welding, electron beam welding technique and tungsten arc welding. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and microhardness were measured. And, in order to compare the effect of welding site and surrounding metal tissue according to the welding condition, SEM photographs were taken and element distribution was observed by Wave Dispersion Spectroscopy. Through analyses of the data, following results were obtained; 1. In items such as tensile strength, yield strength and elongation according to the welding techniques of pure titanium, only tungsten arc welded group showed significant lower value than other groups(P<0.05). 2. In items such as tensile strength and yield strength according to the welding techniques of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, control group and tungsten arc welded group showed significant difference among all the groups(P<0.05). 3. Ti-6Al-4V alloy exhibited significantly greater elongation than control group when the laser welding method and electron beam welding method were used, and elongation showed increasing tendency. 4. Pure titanium specimens exhibited increasing tendency of microhardness regardless of the weld-ing technique applied, and especially tungsten arc welded group demonstrated a great increase of microhardness than parent metal. 5. There was no hardness change in laser welded group and electron beam welded group of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, but in tungsten arc welded group, hardness changed greatly from parent metal to weld seam. 6. Through the metallographic examination and scanning electron microscopy, laser welding caused central fusion and recristallizations were formed and tungsten arc welding caused localized fusion to 0.3-0.7mm from the surface.

GFRP 보강적층판 및 GFRP rod를 이용한 낙엽송 집성재 문형라멘 구조의 수평가력 성능평가 (Lateral Load Performance Evaluation of Larch Glulam Portal Frames Using GFRP-Reinforced Laminated Plate and GFRP Rod)

  • 구조용 집성재 라멘 접합부에 일반적으로 사용되는 접합철물을 대신하여 단판과 Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP)를 복합시킨 GFRP 보강적층판과 삽입 접착형 GFRP rod를 접합물로 사용하여 낙엽송 집성재 문형라멘 구조의 수평가력 성능평가를 실시하였다. 실험결과 GFRP rod와 에폭시 접착제를 이용한 삽입 접착형 접합부는 기존의 접합철물을 이용한 실험체와 비교하여 항복내력, 종국내력, 초기강성이 각각 49%, 52%, 61% 낮게 측정되었다. 이러한 접합부는 GFRP rod와 집성재 간의 접착력이 중요한 내력 기구로 현장적용 시 문제가 발생할 수 있는 가능성이 크다고 판단된다. 반면, GFRP 보강적층판과 목재(Eucalyptus marginata)핀을 이용한 실험체는 집성재 슬릿 접합부의 단면적 손실이 큼에도 불구하고 항복내력, 종국내력, 초기강성, 소성률이 전부 3% 이내로 측정되었다. 게다가 사이클에 대한 강성변화율도 35%로 가장 낮게 측정되며 접합철물을 이용한 실험체와 거의 동등한 성능을 발휘한 것을 확인하였다.
