In industrial distributed control systems, sensors collect data from the physical environment periodically and transmit them to the actuators, which process the control operations based on the received data. For the effective operation of the control systems, the data transmitted by the sensors has to be delivered to the actuators reliably within the deadline, and if the message reception rate of the actuators becomes lower than a threshold, then the performance of the control systems drops greatly. This paper suggests a message routing protocol to transmit periodic messages reliably in a distributed control system based on wireless sensor networks. For reliable message transmission, the proposed protocol selects a routing path whose end-to-end message reception rate is the highest before transmitting data messages. The proposed protocol has the capability of maintaining a target message reception rate for each flow. To maintain the required target reception rate, each destination monitors the actual message reception rate periodically and transmits a feedback message to the source if it drops below the target reception rate. On receiving the feedback message, the source tries to find a new path which can satisfy the target rate. The performance of the proposed protocol has been evaluated using simulation and compared with other protocols in terms of the message reception rate, the message delay and delay jitter, and so on. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol has a higher message reception rate and comparable message delay and delay jitter to other protocols. The simulation results also show that the proposed protocol has an ability to adapt well to the dynamic network traffic change.

In this paper, we proposed the new medium access control protocol for the virtual token bus netowrk. The network is applied to inter-processor communication network of large capacity digital switching system and digital mobile system with distributed control architecture. in the virtual token bus netowrk, the existing medium access control protocols hav ea switchove rtime overhead when traffic load is light or asymmetric according ot arbitration address of node that has message to send. The proposed protocol optimized average message delay using cyclic bus access chain to exclude switchover time of node that do not have message to send. Therefore it enhanced bus tuilization and average message delay that degrades the performance of real time communication netowrks. It showed that the proposed protocol is more enhacned than virtual token medium access control protocol and virtual token medium access control protocol iwth reservation through performance analysis.

The Modbus protocol is the most widely used protocol for connecting multiple slave control units (SCUs) in the master control unit. However, the Modbus protocol does not identify which SCU response message corresponds to the service request message. Therefore, when using the Modbus protocol, one service request message can be transmitted after processing the previous message. In this paper, we propose a Modbus application protocol with an index code and a service code to solve the problem. As a result of experimentation, it is possible to transmit the next service request message without processing the previous service request message. And when a communications error occurs, it is possible to identify what type of error occurred using an error detection algorithm. Also, with simultaneous multiple service requests, the proposed protocol can improve processing time by about 66.2%, compared to the original Modbus protocol.

DTN flooding based routing protocol replicate the message copy to increase the delivery like hood that overloads the network resources. The probabilistic routing protocols reduce replication cost by forwarding the message to a node that holds high predictability value to meet its destination. However, the network traffic converges to high probable nodes and produce congestion that triggers the drop of previously stored messages. In this paper, we have proposed a routing protocol called as Connection frequency Buffer Aware Routing Protocol (CFBARP) that uses an adaptive method to maintain the information about the available buffer space at the receiver before message transmission. Furthermore, a frequency based method has been employed to determine the connection recurrence among nodes. The proposed strategy has performed well in terms of reducing message drop, message relay while increases the delivery probability.

VoIP service is the transmission of voice data using SIP protocol on an IP-based network. The SIP protocol has many advantages, such as providing IP-based voice communication and multimedia service with low communication cost. Therefore, the SIP protocol disseminated quickly. However, SIP protocol exposes new forms of vulnerabilities to malicious attacks, such as message flooding attack. It also incurs threats from many existing vulnerabilities as occurs for IP-based protocol. In this paper, we propose a new virtual proxy to cooperate with the existing Proxy Server to provide state monitoring and detect SIP message flooding attack with IP/MAC authentication. Based on a proposed virtual proxy, the proposed system enhances SIP attack detection performance with minimal latency of SIP packet transmission.

In Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) Application, routing protocol is essential to ensure successful data transmission to all nodes. Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) Protocol is a reactive routing protocol that is mostly used in MANET applications. However, the protocol causes Route Request (RREQ) message flooding issue due to the broadcasting method at the route request stage to find a path to a particular destination, where the RREQ will be rebroadcast if no Request Response (RREP) message is received. A scalable neighbor-based routing (SNBR) protocol was then proposed to overcome the issue. In the SNBR protocol, the RREQ message is only rebroadcast if the number of neighbor nodes less than a certain fix number, known as drop factor. However, since a network always have a dynamic characteristic with a dynamic number of neighbor nodes, the fix drop factor in SNBR protocol could not provide an optimal flooding problem solution in a low dense network environment, where the RREQ message is continuously rebroadcast RREQ message until reach the fix drop factor. To overcome this problem, a new broadcasting method as Dynamic SNBR (DSNBR) is proposed, where the drop factor is determined based on current number of neighbor nodes. This method rebroadcast the extra RREQ messages based on the determined dynamic drop factor. The performance of the proposed DSNBR is evaluated using NS2 and compared with the performance of the existing protocol; AODV and SNBR. Simulation results show that the new routing protocol reduces the routing request overhead, energy consumption, MAC Collision and enhances end-to-end delay, network coverage ratio as a result of reducing the extra route request messages.

In this paper, we analyze two claws of Zhou-Gollmann's protocol. The protocol divide the message into a key K and a ciphertext C. The ciphertext C is delivered to the recipient, but the key K is submitted to the TTP, after the message originator receive the recipient's receipt for the ciphertext. TTP puts the key in the directory which is accesaible to the public. So, the recipient's obtaining the message dependson whether the originator submits the key or not. We will show that the originator. which is in such an advantageous position, could make the protocol be unfair and present how to improve the protocol. On the other hand, Zhou-Gollmann's protocol doesn't provide the secrecy of the message, since the key K is published. This means that, to send a secret message, additional mechanism is required. In this paper, we will present an improvement of Zhou-Gollmann's protocol to keep the message secret. The key distribution of the proposed protocol is based on the Diffie-Hellman's one.

The MQTT-SN (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport-Sensor Network) protocol is a message transmission protocol used in a sensor-based Internet of Things (IoT) environment. This MQTT-SN protocol is a publish-subscribe model with a broker in the middle of message transmission, and each IoT device sends and receives messages through an intermediary when delivering messages. However, the MQTT-SN protocol does not provide security-related functions such as message security, mutual authentication, access control, and broker security. Accordingly, various security problems have recently occurred, and a situation in which security is required has emerged. In this paper, we review the security requirements of MQTT-SN once again, and propose a modified protocol that improves security while satisfying the constraints in the environment where the resource of IoT to which this protocol is applied is limited. Unlike the existing protocol, the security field and authentication server have been added to satisfy the security requirements. In addition, the proposed protocol is actually implemented and tested, and the proposed protocol is evaluated for practical use in terms of energy consumption.

E-Commerce, characterized by the exchange of message, occurs between individuals, organizations, or both. A critical promotion factor of e-Commerce is message authentication, the procedure that allows communicating parties to verify the received messages are authentic. It consists of message unforgery, message non-repudiation, message unalteration, and origin authentication. It is possible to perform message authentication by the use of public key encryption. PGP(Pretty Good Privacy) based on X.400 MHS(Message Handling System) and PKC(Public Key Cryptosystem) makes extensive use of message exchange. In this paper we propose, design and implement NMAP(New Message Authentication Protocol), an applied public information based encryption system to solve the message authentication problem inherent in public key encryption such as X.400 protocol and PGP protocol and were to cope with the verification of NMAP using fuzzy integral. This system is expected to be use in the promotion of the e-Commerce and can perform a non-interactive authentication service.

IoT is becoming more and more popular, along with the massive availability of cheap and easy-to-use IoT devices. One protocol that is often used in IoT devices is the Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol. By default, the MQTT protocol does not activate encrypted data security features. This MQTT default feature makes the transmitted and received message data vulnerable to attacks, such as eavesdropping. Therefore, this paper will design and implement encrypted data security using the lightweight cryptography algorithm. The focus of this paper will be on securing MQTT message data at the application layer. We propose a method for encrypting specific MQTT message fields while maintaining compatibility with the protocol's functionalities. The paper then analyzes the timing performance of the MQTT-LEA implementation on the Raspberry Pi 3+. Our findings demonstrate the feasibility of using LEA at the application layer to secure MQTT message communication on resource-constrained devices.
