  • Radionuclide therapy has been continued for treatment of incurable diseases for past decades. Relevant evaluation of absorbed dose in radionuclide therapy is important to predict treatment output and essential for making treatment planning to prevent unexpected radiation toxicity. Many scientists in the field related with nuclear medicine have made effort to evolve concept and technique for internal radiation dosimetry in this review, basic concept of internal radiation dosimetry is described and recent progress in method for dosimetry is introduced.

  • "Paradoxical deterioration" during antituberculous therapy is generally defined as the clinical or radiological worsening of pre-existing tuberculous lesions or the development of new lesions in a patient who initially improves. The phenomenon of paradoxical deterioration in intramedullary tuberculoma of the spinal cord is rare and is a less established entity. The authors present an unusual case of paraparesis as a result of paradoxical deterioration of intramedullary tuberculoma despite adequate antituberculous therapy. Here, we review the relevant literatures and discuss its possible pathogenic mechanisms.

  • Cancer, especially GI cancer itself and any associated treatments have profound effect on the patient's nutritional status. It is therefore very important to understand various nutritional issues in GI cancer patients for the cure and for increasing the compliance during the course of the treatment. Screening and identification of nutritional risk for the GI cancer patients is very essential and is plays a critical part of the treatment to help improve patient outcomes. Maintaining optimal nutritional status is an important goal in the management of individuals diagnosed, treated with cancer. Maintenance of adequate nutritional intake is important whether patients are undergoing active therapy, recovering from cancer therapy, or are in remission and striving to avoid cancer recurrence. The goals of nutrition therapy are to prevent or reverse nutrient deficiencies, preserve lean body mass, help patients better tolerate treatments and minimize nutrition-related side effects and complications, etc. Recent interest in clinical settings is also in maximizing quality of life of the patients which can also be modulated by appropriate nutrition.

  • External therapy is a very useful method in today. But a study of theoretical basis of external therapy is very poor in Korea. So I carried out to investigate of 《Li Yue Pian Wen, 理淪騈文》. And I translated and analyzed to , firstly. Wu Shi Ji (吳師機) was one of the physician in qing(淸) dynasty (AD). He wrote the 《Li Yue Pian Wen, 理淪騈文》 which is the first special book on the external therapy(外治法). This is composed of 5 parts. In these parts,

  • The applicability and feasibility of TomoTherapy in the lung radiation surgery was analyzed by comparison of the calculated dose distribution in TomoTherapy planning with the results of conventional IMRS (intensity modulated radiation surgery) using LINAC (linear accelerator). The acquired CT (computed tomograph) images of total 10 patients whose tumors' motion were less than 5 mm were used in the radiation surgery planning and the same prescribed dose and the same dose constraints were used between TomoTherapy and LINAC. The results of TomoTherapy planning fulfilled the dose requirement in GTV (gross tumor volume) and OAR (organ at risk) in the same with the conventional IMRS using LINAC. TomoTherapy was superior in the view point of low dose in the normal lung tissue and conventional LINAC was superior in the dose homogeneity in GTV. The calculated time for treatment beam delivery was long more than two times in TomoTherapy compared with the conventional LINAC. Based on the results in this study, TomoTherapy can be evaluated as an effective way of lung radiation surgery for the patients whose tumor motion is little when the optimal planning is produced considering patient's condition and suitability of dose distribution.

  • The machine log files recorded by a scanning control unit in proton beam therapy system have been studied to be used as a quality assurance method of scanning beam deliveries. The accuracy of the data in the log files have been evaluated with a standard calibration beam scan pattern. The proton beam scan pattern has been delivered on a gafchromic film located at the isocenter plane of the proton beam treatment nozzle and found to agree within ${\pm}1.0mm$. The machine data accumulated for the scanning beam proton therapy of five different cases have been analyzed using a statistical method to estimate any systematic error in the data. The high-precision scanning beam log files in line scanning proton therapy system have been validated to be used for off-line scanning beam monitoring and thus as a patient-specific quality assurance method. The use of the machine log files for patient-specific quality assurance would simplify the quality assurance procedure with accurate scanning beam data.

  • Shikryochanyo written by Jeon Soonyi is a text that extracted paragraphs related to food therapy from medical books or materia medica of Korea and China. "Shikryochanyo" treats disease by food instead of herbs(or drugs) and pork is the majority of methods as food therapy in "Shikryochanyo". So there are 25 paragraphs of using pork, in 15 categories out of 45 in "Shikryochanyo". However, it is known that pork is not recommended as a food when a person got disease and not allowed during medication in Oriental Medicine. As a food therapy in "Shikryochanyo", not only pork itself but liver, kidney, stomach, bladder, heart, etc. are used and diverse food styles are applied as soup, porridge, roasting and so on.

  • With the booming complementary medicine as a social trend of well-being, treatment by the sound waves of six kinds of syllables is believed to restore that healthy balance to the body. Sound therapy refers to a range of therapies in which sound is used to treat physical and mental conditions. Healing is done by transmitting beneficial sound to the affected area related to five viscera and six bowels. The healing sound may be produced by a voice. sound wave vibrations are to treat physical and mental conditions. In general, this therapy is based on the theory that all of life vibrates, including people's bodies. When a person's healthy resonant frequency is out of balance, physical and emotional health is affected. When a person's healthy resonant frequency is out of balance, physical and emotional health is affected. This paper focuses on the sound therapy by six syllables of 'hyu', 'huo', 'ho', 'sa', 'chi' and 'hui'.
