The Influence of Problem Gambling on Suicidal Ideation through Depression among Stayers in the Area of Casino: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Gender (카지노 주변 체류자의 문제도박이 우울을 통해 자살생각에 미치는 영향: 성별의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study aimed to examine the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation through depression among stayers in the area of casino and to investigate the moderated mediation effect of gender. For the purpose, this study used a sample of 298 stayers in the area of casino, and conducted data analyses by utilizing Process Macro for SPSS. The main results are as follows. First, problem gambling positively significantly influenced suicidal ideation among stayers in the area of casino. Second, depression perfectly mediated the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation. Third, gender moderated the influence of depression on suicidal ideation. Fourth, the moderated conditional mediation effect of gender in the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation through depression was found. Based on the findings, this study concludes with discussing intervention strategies to address problem gambling and suicidal ideation among stayers in the area of casino.

The Mediating Effect of Bullying on the Associations Between Children's overweight and Obesity Problem and Mental Health Problems (아동의 과체중·비만과 정신건강문제의 관계 -집단따돌림의 매개효과-)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the mediation effect of bullying on the associations between children's overweight and obesity problem and mental health problems. Data from a subsample of 2,306 adolescents, who participated in the "child-youth synthesize survey" was utilized. The measurement and structural models were estimated using structural equation modeling. Partial and full mediation models were compared, and X2 difference test was conducted between the two models. The study results show that children's overweight and obesity problem have a direct effect on mental health problems. In addition, bullying was found to mediate the association between children's overweight and obesity problem and mental health problems. The analytic results confirmed that the model fit for the full mediation model was better than the partial mediation model when examining the mediating effect of bullying on the relations between children's overweight and obesity problem and mental health problems. Efforts to prevent mental health problems may require interventions for children's with overweight and obesity problems as well as inventions for reducing bullying in general.

Multiple-Parallel Mediation Effects of Depression·Anxiety and Anger in the Relationship between Anger-out and Interpersonal Problems in Men (성인 남성의 분노 표출과 대인관계 문제와의 관계에서 우울·불안과 분노감의 다중병렬매개효과)

  • Background: This study aims to examine the multiple-parallel mediation effects of depression, anxiety, and anger in the relationship between anger-out and interpersonal problems in men. In addition, the purpose of this study was provide a basis for supporting psychological services alongside therapeutic services as a way to increase the overall interpersonal relationship of men. Design: Survey. Methods: This study targeted 208 adult men aged 20 to 59 years. Participants were recruited through online cafe postings, and data were collected by running an online survey link. Based on the collected data, correlations between variables were investigated, and multiple parallel mediation analysis was performed using the model (Model 4) presented by SPSS PROCESS Macro. In addition, the significance of statistics was confirmed by applying the bootstrapping method, and the significance of the indirect effect was confirmed by the Sobel Z test. Results: First, Anger-out in men is related to interpersonal problems(β=.614, P<.001). Second, it can see that anger-out not only increases depression·anxiety, but also increases anger. Third, Anger-out has been shown to increase depression, anxiety, and anger, leading to increasing interpersonal problems. Anger-out had a significant effect on depression, anxiety(β=.324 P<.001), and anger(β=.551, P<.001), and depression, anxiety(β=.239, P<.001), and anger (β=.318, P<.01) had a significant effect on interpersonal relationship problems. Lastly, it can be seen that men's anger-out is experienced more as anger than depression or anxiety. Conclusion: When providing medical services to men, I believe that if externally expressed anger is addressed along with therapeutic treatment, invisible depression can also be intervened and a more positive prognosis can be expected

The Relationship between Aging Anxiety and Psychological Well-Being in Mid-life Adults: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Cognitive Flexibility and Subjective Economic Status (중년의 노화불안과 심리적 안녕감의 관계: 인지적 유연성과 주관적 경제수준의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study was aimed to verify moderated mediation effect between cognitive-flexibility and subjective economic status in the process that aging anxiety have an effect on psychological well-being. For this, online survey was conducted to 317(M:159, F:158) adults who ranged from 40 to 64 years old. Survey was conducted from 2017.9.3. to 9.28. Correlation analysis, regression analysis, and significant test was done through SPSS 21.0 and SPSS Macro. First, the analysis showed that meaningful correlation was found among aging anxiety, cognitive flexibility, subjective economic status and psychological well-being. Secondly, cognitive flexibility was found to have meaningful partial mediation effect(β = .530, p < .001) in the relationship between aging anxiety and psychological well-being. Thirdly, subjective economic status was found to have a meaningful moderation effect(β = .080, 𝜟R2=.006, p <.05) in the relationship between cognitive flexibility and psychological well-being. Fourthly, verification result by SPSS Macro showed that, mediation effect of cognitive flexibility and subjective economic status was existent in the relationship of aging anxiety and psychological well-being. Lastly, implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

Effect of National Pension Service's Shareholding Ratio on Firm Value: Focusing on Stewardship Code Implementation and R&D Expenditure (국민연금의 소유지분비율이 기업가치에 미치는 영향 연구: 스튜어드십 코드 도입과 R&D 투자를 중심으로)

  • In the relationship between the shareholding ratio of National Pension Service (NPS) and the investee firm's value, this study examined the mediating effect of R&D expenditure which its increase can indirectly induce the increase of firm value, and examined the moderated mediation effect of the Stewardship Code implementation which pressures investee firms' to increase R&D expenditure and firm value. Using the Korean listed companies' data from 2016 to 2021, the analysis showed that the R&D expenditure had a partial mediation effect on the relationship between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value. Also, the analysis showed that the NPS's Stewardship Code implementation had positive moderating effects on following relationships, one between NPS's shareholding ratio and R&D expenditure, and the other between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value. In all, on the relationship between NPS's shareholding ratio and firm value, the R&D expenditure's mediation effect differs before and after the implementation of the stewardship code, which shows the moderated mediation effect.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of safety culture on job satisfaction and organizational commitment and mediation effect of Organizational trust between independent variable and two dependent variables. Based on the responses from 290 employees, the results reveals ; 1) Organizational safety culture has a positive effect on the job satisfactions and organizational safety culture effect positively on the organizational commitment 2) Organizational trust mediates the relationships between safety culture and job satisfaction. 3) Organizational trust mediates the relationships between safety culture and organizational commitment.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediation effect of peer attachment on the relationship between children's depression and mother attachment. The respondents in this study were 697 school aged children attending elementary schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province. Questionnaires, which required self-reporting by children, were used to investigate mother attachment, peer attachment and depression. The collected data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) and Sobel test using AMOS 8.0, and SPSS 15.0. The results of the study were as follows. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) revealed that peer attachment partially mediated the relationship between mother attachment and depression. First, mother attachment had a direct effect on peer attachment. Second, peer attachment had a direct effect on depression. Third, mother attachment had an indirect effect on depression as a mediated effect of peer attachment.

  • This study investigates the mediation effects of adult children's ambivalence for elderly parents in the relation of psychological well-being of middle aged children with dependence and the intrusiveness of elderly parents that examines the difference of mediation effects by children's gender. We collected data from 659 middle aged children of 40 to 59 years old who have living mother or father. The main findings are as follows. First, there were mediation effects of ambivalence for elderly parents in the relation between psychological well-being of middle aged children and dependency and intrusiveness of elderly parents. The perceived dependence and intrusiveness of elderly parents had a positive influence on the ambivalence of middle aged childen for their elderly parents. Ambivalence for elderly parents had a negative effect on the psychological well-being of middle aged children. In addition, the dependence and intrusiveness of elderly parents did not directly influence the psychological well-being of middle aged children. Second, the mediation effect of ambivalence for elderly parents indicated a gender difference of middle aged children. The dependence of elderly parents affected the ambivalence for elderly parents in the woman group and the intrusiveness of elderly parents only affected ambivalence for elderly parents in the man group. The results were discussed in terms of gender difference.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between family strength and career decision-making difficulties and the mediating effect or career self-regulation. The results of the present study suggested the significance of family strength and career self-regulation in understanding career decision-making difficulties. With 172 Korean college students, there were both significant direct and indirect effects from family strength to career decision-making difficulties. Specifically, the mediation roles of career self-regulation was confirmed. Comparing the partial mediation model with full mediation model, the partial mediation model fits better with the data. These results have significant clinical implication that counseling practitioners need to address the possible influence of family strength on college student's perceived difficulties in career decision-making process and to assist students develop appropriate level of competencies of regulating one's emotion, thoughts, and behavior related to career problems.

  • This study aimed to verify the positive effect of work meaningfulness(WM) on flourishing(FL) with the successive positive effects of work engagement(WE) and job performance(JP) as dual mediators. We conducted an online survey of 395 incumbents working in the companies of different types and statistically analyzed data using SPSS and SPSS Process macro for hierarchical regression and bootstrapping. The results are as follows: 1. correlation coefficients of all combinations from four variables are significant, 2. simple mediation effects(WM-WE-FL and WE-JP-FL) are significant, 3. dual mediation effet(WM-WE-JP-FL) is verified. This study showed practical guide for the efficient management of employees in recent autonomous work environment and further studies with longitudinal method will be needed in order to verify substantially the dual mediation.
