Characterization of Physiological Changes in $S3H5/\gamma{2bA2}$ Hybridoma Cells During Adaptation to Low Serum Media

  • Physiological changes of the murine hybridoma cell line $S3H5/\gamma{2bA2}$ during adaptation to RPMI 1640 medium with 1%(v/v) fetal bovine serum were characterized in terms of cell growth, antibody production, morphology, and metabolic quotients. Cells adapted to 1% serum medium in T-flasks became sensitive to shear induced by mechanical agitation and required at least 5% serum in the medium or spent medium for cell growth in spinner flasks, while cells adapted to 10% serum medium in T-flasks could grow in 1% serum medium in spinner flasks. Consequently, long-term adaptation to low serum media may not give the expected growth enhancement. After adaptation to 1% serum medium, changes in cell morphology were observed. The cells in 10% serum medium were uniform and circular, while cells in 1% medium were irregularly shaped. The DNA contents, which were measured by flow cytometry, were almost constant among the cells in the range of 1% to 10%. Further, no significant changes in energy metabolism and specific monoclonal antibody production rate were observed among these cells.

  • Animal cell culture media are usually supplemented with fetal bovine serum (FBS); however, the use of FBS presents certain problems including high cost. By using an adaptation process and the addition of silkworm hemolymph, the FBS concentration can be reduced without causing a significant decrease in cell growth.

A Cross-layer Link Adaptive HD Video Transmission Scheme in WiMedia D-MAC based UWB Systems

  • In this paper, we propose a QoS (Quality of Service)-aware and cooperative resource reservation scheme using cross-layer link adaptation for wireless high definition video transmission through UWB (Ultra Wide Band) network with D-MAC (Distributed Medium Access Control). A wireless high definition video transmission system usually requires stable high throughput even without line-of-sight, e.g., a destination device in another room separated by a wall. Since the WiMedia D-MAC supporting DRP (Distributed Reservation Protocol) scheme causes lots of DRP resource reservation conflicts due to failure of beacon detection in wireless channel environment, overall performances of the WiMedia D-MAC can be deteriorated. And the current WiMedia MAC standard has not considered QoS provisioning even though QoS parameters such as a range of service rates are provided to each traffic stream. Therefore, we propose Relay DRP protocol with QoS-based relay node selection criterion, which makes a relay path to avoid DRP resource reservation conflicts and guarantee QoS more stably through cross-layer link adaptation of cooperative relay transmission scheme and is compliant with the current WiMedia D-MAC protocol. Simulation results demonstrate performance improvements of the proposed method for throughput and QoS provisioning.

Domain Adaptation 방법을 이용한 기계학습 기반의 미세먼지 농도 예측 (Machine Learning-based Estimation of the Concentration of Fine Particulate Matter Using Domain Adaptation Method)

  • Recently, people's attention and worries about fine particulate matter have been increasing. Due to the construction and maintenance costs, there are insufficient air quality monitoring stations. As a result, people have limited information about the concentration of fine particulate matter, depending on the location. Studies have been undertaken to estimate the fine particle concentrations in areas without a measurement station. Yet there are limitations in that the estimate cannot take account of other factors that affect the concentration of fine particle. In order to solve these problems, we propose a framework for estimating the concentration of fine particulate matter of a specific area using meteorological data and traffic data. Since there are more grids without a monitor station than grids with a monitor station, we used a domain adversarial neural network based on the domain adaptation method. The features extracted from meteorological data and traffic data are learned in the network, and the air quality index of the corresponding area is then predicted by the generated model. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performs better as the number of source data increases than the method using conditional random fields.

다중 스트림을 이용한 객체기반 MPEG-4 컨텐트의 적응 기법 (Adaptation for Object-based MPEG-4 Content with Multiple Streams)

  • In this paper, an adaptive algorithm is proposed in streaming MPEG-4 contents with fluctuating resource amount such as throughput of network conditions. In the area of adaptive streaming issue, a lot of researches have been made on how to represent encoded media(such as video) bitstream in scalable way. By contrast, MPEG-4 supports object-based multimedia content which is composed of various types of media streams such as audio, video, image and other graphical elements. Thus, it can be more effective to provide individual media streams in scalable way for streaming object-based content to heterogeneous environment. The proposed method provides the multiple media streams corresponding to an object with different qualities and bit rate in order to support object based scalability to the MPEG-4 content. In addition, an optimal selection of the multiple streams for each object to meet a given constraint is proposed. The selection process is adopted a multiple choice knapsack problem with multi-step selection for the MPEG-4 objects with different scalability levels. The proposed algorithm enforces the optimal selection process to maintain the perceptual qualities of more important objects at the best effort. The experimental results show that the set of selected media stream for presenting objects meets a current transmission condition with more high perceptual quality.

  • 인터넷을 통하여 다른 서비스에 비해 상대적으로 많은 대역폭을 필요로 하는 비디오 스트리밍 서비스를 제공할 경우, 다른 플로우들과의 형평성을 제공하면서 비디오 서비스의 품질을 보장해야한다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 스케일러블 비디오 압축 스트림에 대한 멀티채널 TCP-friendly 스트리밍 기법을 제안하였다. 제안 구조는 스케일러블 비디오 코딩으로 압축된 비디오 정보를 기본계층(baseline layer)은 TCP를 이용하여 손실 없이 전송하고 상위계층(enhancement layer)는 TFRC (TCP friendly rate control)을 이용하여 전송하도록 하였다. 이때, TFRC로 전송되는 상위계층 레이어에 대한 전송률은 수신측 재생버퍼의 상태와 전송 미디어의 계층별 부호화율을 고려하여 적응적으로 결정되도록 제안하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여, 이러한 적응적 전송률 제어를 통하여 제안 스트리밍 방식이 기존 방식에 비해 네트워크 상황변화에 신속히 적응하고 혼잡상황에서도 일정수준의 서비스 품질을 보장함을 확인 할 수 있다.

현대 디지털 패션에 나타난 예술 매체적 특성과 미적 가치 (The Aesthetic Value and Art-media's Characteristics as Appeared in Contemporary Digital Fashion)

  • In this modern digital era, there are very vigorous arguments about digital and media aesthetics throughout culture and art on the basis of new transferring of recognition about the art-media's characteristics. Therefore, this paper tries to discover the art-media's characteristics and aesthetic value that are included in contemporary digital fashion through studying the fusion between digital and fashion. The purpose of this research is to offer positive and evolutive opportunity of artistic thinking to make the meeting between fashion and media suggest the future generation, adaptation and recognition in the media - developmental environment that will be deeper and more fueling. In the area of research method, this paper takes the method of theoretical research by referring national and foreign literatures and preceding research-papers, and carries out investigation and analysis about digital fashion for the last 10 years. The results of this study; The art-media's characteristics of modern digital fashion are virtuality, immateriality and characteristics of multimedia. The aesthetic values can be classified with four kinds of properties. First is hybridity initiated from multi-media that creates works; the second is infinite reproductivity initiated from the characteristics of the multi media and the digital carrier. Thirdly, there is also interactivity appeared all over the area of production, adaptation and perception caused by non-linearity and immateriality. Finally there is synesthesia that can extend the capability of sense through digital media.

초등학생의 스트레스요인, 대처방식, 어머니와의 의사소통 및 학교적응 (Stressor, Coping Style, Communication with Mother & School Adaptation in 6th Grade Elementary School Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the stressors, coping styles, communication with mother, school adaptation and predictors for school adaptation. The subjects of this study consisted of 354 children. They were 6th grade of elementary school in Taegu city. The periods of study was from march 10, to march 18, 2000. Data were analyzed by SAS computer programme. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The mean score for stressor was 39.91 in children(range 24-72). The higher stressor among three subgroups of stressor was mass media stressor. The degree of stressor revealed to be influenced significantly economic status. 2. The most frequently used coping style was problem-oriented coping style(M=18.94) in children. The degree of emotion-oriented coping style revealed to be influenced significantly family's atmosphere 3. The mean score for communication with mother was 72,44 in children(range 20- 100). The degree of communication with mother revealed to be influenced significantly sex, economic status, family' atmosphere. 4. The mean score for school adaptation was 62.48 in children(range 25-100). The higher school adaptation among five subgroup was rule dimension. The degree of school adaptation revealed to be influenced significantly sex, birth, mother's job, economic status, family's atmosphere. 5. School adaptation were positively correlated with communication with mother, problem- oriented coping style(r=0.40 p<0.001) (r=0.30 p<0.001). 6. School adaptation were negatively correlated with emotion-oriented coping style, stressor (r=-0.16 p<0.01)(r=-0.13 p<0.01). 7. Forward multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was the variable communication with mother accounted for 15.25% in school adaptation. All variables accounted for 25.55% in school adaptation. From the above results, it can be concluded that teaching mother about importance of communication, encouraging to use problem-oriented coping style is necessary to improve school adaptation in 6th grade elementary school children

해외프로그램 리메이킹 과정에서 나타나는 콘텐츠 변화에 대한 연구 (Foreign TV Content Analysis: Adaptation, Transformation and Koreanization)

  • 본 논문에서는 한국의 대표적인 상업채널인 케이블 방송국에서 방영된 포맷 프로그램에 대한 분석을 통해, 포맷프로그램의 현지화과정에서 한국적 가치가 어떻게 발현되고 있는지, 프로그램 제작에 영향을 미치는 또 다른 요인은 없었는지 등에 대해 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위하여 2014년 시즌 3까지 방영하였으며, 연착륙에 성공하였다고 평가되는 프로그램인 '마스터셰프 코리아' (Master Chef KOREA, '마셰코')의 각 에피소드를 '마스터셰프 USA'와 비교 분석하였다. 사례분석을 통해 포맷 프로그램의 성공요인은 철저한 한국화에 있었다는 점을 확인하였으며, 제작자가 처한 미디어 환경에 따라서 프로그램에서 독특한 특징이 나타난다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 또한 현지화 및 지역화에 성공한 포맷 프로그램이 살아남는다는 기존의 논의는 여전히 유효한 분석틀이나, 포맷 프로그램이 한국화 되는 과정에서 공공성이 강화되고 프로그램에 대한 직간접적 규제가 강화되는 측면이 있다는 기존의 연구결과는 좀 더 비판적으로 접근할 필요가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.
