  • Mammalian cell cultures have been used extensively to produce proteins for therapeutic agent because of their ability to perform post-translational modification including glycosylation. To produce recombinant protein, many factors and parameter are considered such as media composition, host cell type, and culture process. In this study, recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) producing cell line was established by using glutamine synthetase system. To reduce serum concentration in media, we compared direct adaptation with step adaptation. Cell growth was faster in step adaptation. In low-level serum media, there were insufficient glucose for cell growth. Thus, we added glucose in low-level serum media from 2 g/L to 4.5 g/L. Titer of rhEPO was higher than other conditions at 4.5 g/L of glucose. Additionally, N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA), 13-cis-retinal, and pluronic F-68 (PF-68) were added to enhance productivity in CHO cell cultures. In conclusion, we applied CHO cell producing rhEPO to low-level of serum in media using step-adaptation. Also, we confirmed positive effect of NMDA, 13-cis-retinal, and PF-68.

  • Recently, the use of media has become a daily life due to Covid-19, and education using media has expanded for teenagers. The purpose of this study is to empirically verify how media usage characteristics affect social relationships and school adaptation through the self-efficiency and immersion of teenagers at the youth education site. This study was collected and distributed questionnaires to 250 high school students in Seoul from November 14 to November 21, 2020. The results of the study were derived with a total of 249 questionnaires, excluding one missing questionnaire, and the hypothesis was verified using a Covariance Structure Analysis. Research has shown that, first, the existing, individual, and utility among the characteristics of using youth media have a significant effect on self-efficiency, respectively. Second, only entertainment among the characteristics of youth media use was found to have a significant effect on immersion. Third, immersion has a significant definition effect on school adaptation, and self-efficiency has been shown to have a definition impact on social relationships. Based on this study, we believe that it will be used as a fundamental resource for the development of youth media usage and policy direction in the age of the ever-changing Covid-19.

  • The increased number of foreigners in Korea (now more than 1.8 million) has necessitated understanding, analyzing and interpreting the immigration issues in order to solve the foreign workers' social problems. Foreign workers in Korea are suffering from a lot of difficulties such as bad working conditions, lower income, unpaid wages, cultural adaptation, etc. This paper aims to investigate how the social capital factors (social network and social support) and media use (Korean and Chinese media) influence cultural adaptation and job satisfaction. In addition, the paper aims to provide practical guidelines for social welfare organizations and enterprises which support and recruit them. The sample of our respondents was 273 Chinese workers (216 Korean-Chinese workers and 57 Han-Chinese workers) in Korea. We used SPSS 21.0 for statistical analysis. The results are as follows: Korean network, native network, family support, native support and Korean media use have a significant effect on cultural adaptation. Korean network, native network, family support, native support and Korean media use have a significant impact on job satisfaction. Furthermore, cultural adaptation was found to mediate the relationship between Korean/native network and job satisfaction as well as between family/native support and job satisfaction. Cultural adaptation was also found to mediate the relationship between Korean media use and job satisfaction.

  • Korean dramas, commonly referred to as Koreanovelas or K-Dramas in the Philippines, have significantly influenced and reshaped Philippine television culture since the early 2000s. Their impact persists in contemporary television programming, reflecting the transnational flow of media texts across borders. As media content transcends geographical boundaries, local media companies have adopted the practice of producing adaptations of foreign television series for their audiences. This paper examines the adaptation of the Koreanovela The World of the Married into the Philippine series The Broken Marriage Vow, both of which are adaptations derived from the British show Doctor Foster. Through this comparative analysis, I argue that the process of localizing these television shows to suit the preferences of the target audience serves as a tangible manifestation of transnational adaptation. Particularly in an era of globalization, where entertainment is still a thriving enterprise, thus traversing international borders, this phenomenon demonstrates the evolving nature of television content as it adapts and caters to diverse cultural contexts let alone a profitable means to generate an ailing entertainment industry, especially in the time of the pandemic.

  • Contents adaptation is a technology which converts one content to another content used in various devices. Specially, synchronization of inter-media which are included in a document is needed. There are various proposals and solutions for synchronization of inter-media. In the paper, I present "TATS : Temporal Aggregate Tree Strategy" model, which is used for specifying the temporal relationship among media in series of time. In the TATS model, aggregate tree, a sort of a binary tree, is generated from the execution time of those media. Using this aggregate tree, I implemented the inter-media synchronizations.

  • This study assessed the effect of preparation design on marginal adaptation and also compared the sensitivity and specificity of clinical evaluation techniques for marginal accuracy of cast restorations to stereomicroscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three Ivorine molar teeth of different designs were prepared. (A)-A complete crown preparation with buccal shoulder and beveled finish line. (B)-A complete crown preparation with chamfer finish line. (C)-A three-quarter crown preparation with proximal boxes and beveled finish line. Twenty four castings were prepared with eight castings for each design respectively. Each casting underwent examination with an explorer, disclosing media, and a stereomicroscope. Stereomicroscopy at a value less than or equal to 30 microns was used as a gold standard to evaluate the significance of different designs on marginal adaptation. Chi-square tests of independence and Kruskal-Wallis were used to evaluate the effect of preparation design and compare the agreement between examination methods for detection of marginal gap size of greater than or equal to 30 microns (${\alpha}$=.05). Sensitivity and specificity for explorer and disclosing media as compared to stereomicroscope was calculated using statistical formula given by Park. RESULTS. The preparation design did not significantly affect overall marginal adaptation. Examination by explorer and disclosing media at $30 \;{mu}m$ revealed 39% and 10.06% sensitivity and 91% and 82% specificity respectively. CONCLUSION. Preparation designs examined in this study did not significantly affect the marginal adaptation of the castings. Commonly used clinical evaluation techniques using explorer and disclosing media appeared to be inadequate for assessment of marginal accuracy.

  • A sensible media simulation system for automobiles is introduced to open up new possibilities for an in-car entertainment system. In this paper, the system architecture is presented, which includes a virtuality-to-reality adaptation scheme. Standard data schemes for context and control information from the International Standard MPEG-V (ISO/IEC 23005) are introduced to explain the details of data formats, which are interchangeable in the system. A sensible media simulator and the implementation of a sensory device are presented to prove the effectiveness of the proposed system. Finally, a correlation between learning styles and sensory effects (that is, wind and vibration effects) is statistically analyzed using the proposed system. The experiment results show that the level of satisfaction with the sensory effects is unaffected overall by the learning styles of the test subjects. Stimulations by vibration effects, however, generate more satisfaction in people with a high tactile perception level or a low visual perception level.

  • Delivering rich and continuous media contents robustly over a wide range of network conditions of the wired/wireless Internet is a highly challenging task. To address this challenges, the continuous media applications at the edge of network has become more and more adaptive while the best-effort Internet is slowly progressing towards improved networking services. That is, the role of network adaptive media delivery, which dynamically links the quality demand of application contents to the underlying networking services, has become more crucial. In this paper, we will first review the required network adaptation functionalities seen from the application side: congestion control / rate control, error control, and synchronization / adaptive playout. Then, we start the coverage of networking support issues that helps the realization of network adaptive media streaming - from network support and protocol support toward consolidated support via middleware. Finally, we propose a dynamic network adaptation framework that efficiently leverages its awareness of both media application (including contents) and underlying networking support.
