  • The dynamic behavior of a complex mechanical structure can be identified by dividing the structure into a series of smaller structure, called sub- structure and by studying the dynamic characteristics of these components. Generally, the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure are strongly affected by the properties of joint parameters. In this paper, to identify the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure, and experimental identification method in which directrly measured frequency response function(FRF) is used is considered. The method does not use the procedure of complex matrix calculation but use that of real matrix calculation. To confirm this method, computer simulation is performed by using frequency response function mixed with noise, and the experimental study is performed about the simple structure. The dynamic characteristics of joint parameters and identified more accurately than in using the prcedure of complex matrix calculation.

  • The purpose of this research was to study the influence of machining characteristics for aluminum alloys. The effect of metallic microstructural variables on the measures of machinability of aluminum alloys has no been adequately investigated. Machining Characteristics are influenced significantly by mechanical characteristics, composition and structure of material etcs. For improvement of machining characteristics, various studies are reported. In this paper, composition elements add to aluminum alloys within the limit of sustaining mechanical characteristics of metallic material. We have analyzed dynamic characteristics of cutting resistance, tensile strength value, hardness value etcs.

  • The study has been conducted to investigate the relationship between yarn structural parameters such as diameter, twist multiplier and linear density, and mechanical properties of yarns measured by KES-F System. Each mechanical characteristic values per tex have non-linear relationship to the increment of yarn diameter, but as the linear density has increased, the mechanical characteristic values except for the bending characteristics have decreased linearly. It is, however, difficult to analyze obviously on the effects of twist multiplier even though the bending and the shear characteristic values were inclined to decrease. The effect of dyeing has also considered. The results are showing that yarn-dyed samples had higher effects than top-dyed ones on the mechanical characteristics.

Microscopic Spray Characteristics in the Effervescent Atomizer with Two Aerator Tubes

  • An experimental study is performed on atomization characteristics and stable operating conditions for the injection of high viscous waste vegetable oil using an effervescent atomizer with 2 aerator tubes. Consideration is given to the effects of ALR and liquid viscosity on the velocity and mean diameter of the injected droplet. It is found that (i) as ALR increases, the axial velocity of the droplet is increased, while half-velocity width and SMD are decreased regardless of the change in liquid viscosities, (ii) the rate of fine drop distribution occupied in the total spray field is increased with an increase in ALR, and (iii) the effect of viscosity on the atomization characteristics is minor. Consequently, it is expected that the effervescent atomizer will exhibit an excellent atomization performance at the high ALR condition, regardless of liquid viscosities.

  • Hydropneumatic suspension unit is an important part of tracked vehicles to absorb external impact load exerted from the non-paved road and the cannon discharge. Its absorption performance is strongly influenced by both damping and spring forces of the unit. In this paper, we numerically analyze the damping characteristics of the in-arm-type hydropneumatic suspension unit (ISU) by considering four distinct dynamic modes of the ISU damper: jounce-loading, jounce-unloading, rebound-loading and rebound-unloading. The flow rate coefficients determining the oil flow rate through the damper orifice are decided with the help of independent experiments. The wheel reaction force, the flow rate at cracking and the damping energy are parametrically investigated with respect to the orifice diameter and the wheel motion frequency.

  • The characteristics of wave propagation along a catenary depend on various impedance conditions; i.e., spatial impedance of catenary, impedance of boundaries. In this study, wave propagation along a simple catenary system is studied with arbitrary impedance conditions such as impedance of pantograph, boundary, catenary etc. Seven coupled equations which determine the characteristics of wave propagation along catenary system have been derived and numerically solved. Results demonstrate the role of each impedance condition in the dynamics of catenary system, i.e. the way in which the conditions affect waves on catenary as well as contact force of pantograph. The formulation and suggested solution method can be certainly used for desinging an optimal catenary system for a given pantograph.

  • In the microstereolithography which can make 3-D microstructures, curing depth is different according to exposure energy. Curing depth has to be controlled to fabricate complex 3-D microstructures with overhang shape. It becomes increases when the exposure energy increases. And photocurable resin is cured when the exposure energy is bigger than critical energy. So optimal exposure energy has to be found to fabricate overhang structures without being gel. To make thinner layer, UV absorber is used and exposure pattern is changed. In this paper, we find curing characteristics according to exposure energy, and fabricate microstructures with overhang shape.

  • We present the characteristics of microwave and mechanical behavior for the electrostatically actuated z-shaped laterally driven micriomachined CPW SPST(Single Pole Single Throw) Switch, which is for the application of the microwave communication systems. In this paper, we have aimed to maintain advantages. such as low insertion loss and low power consumption that the previously developed RF MEMS Switch has and minimize also stiction problem. enhance the microwave characteristics by etching of substrate beneath the switch, realize the pull-in voltage of below 30V. The optimized design parameters of the MEMS Switch can be selected by the analysis of the mechanical behavior and the use of ANSYS simulation method.

  • A mathematical model and dynamic characteristics ova continuously variable damper for semi-active suspen- sion systems are investigated. After analyzing the geometry of a typical continuously variable damper, mathematical models fur individual components including piston, orifices, spring, and valves are first derived and then the flow equations for extension and compression strokes are investigated. To verify the developed mathematical model, the dynamic response of the model are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK and are compared with experimental results. The proposed model can be used not only for mechanical components design but also for control system design.

엔진 마찰 특성에 미치는 부수적 인자의 영향 (The Effects of Additional Factors on the Engine Friction Characteristics)

  • This paper reports on the effects of additional factors on the engine friction characteristics. The total friction loss of engine is composed of pumping and mechanical friction loss. The pumping loss was calculated from the cylinder pressure, and the mechanical friction loss was measured by strip-down method under the motoring condition. The various parameters were tested. The engine friction loss was much affected by oil and coolant temperature. The low viscosity oil was very effective to reduce the friction loss, and friction modifier was very useful to reduce the friction loss at lower engine speed. The engine friction loss was varied with engine running time because of surface roughness decreasing and oil degradation. To prevent oil-churning effect, it was very important to maintain the proper oil level. The presented results will be very useful to understand friction characteristics of engine.
