The measuring resolution and speed for wavefronts are important to improve the performance of an adaptive optics system. In this paper, we propose a fast measuring algorithm with high resolution in the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor for an adaptive optics system. We designed ground isolated electrical devices whose differential data signals are used to control the deformable mirror and tip/tilt mirror for robust control. The conventional mass centroid algorithm in the Shack-Hartmann sensor to measure wavefront has been widely used and provided good measurement results. In this paper, the proposed fast measuring algorithm for measuring the wavefront combines the conventional mass centroid algorithm with a weighting factor. The weighting factor is a real value estimating the real center of mass in a wavefront spot image. This proposed wavefront measuring algorithm provided fast measurement results with high resolution from experimental tests.
This paper is concerned with the development of a measurement system using field measuring device which will give the membrane stress of the membrane structures. Up to this point, several techniques on measurement of membrane stresses has been proposed and some have been used in the fields, but accuracy of the measured stresses to be far from reliable one. Such situation has not been changed until recent days, we do not have the measurement device on which we can depend. On top of that, due to the different properties in cross directions for material of the membrane, the stress in the warp direction is different from that in the fill one. A new method is proposed to measured membrane stresses in two different direction separately, where instead of membrane stresses directly, an external force perpendicular to the membrane to be applied. A portable device can measure the applied force and the displacement. A special testing bed to be fabricated to accommodate $50cm{\times}50$ manbrane specimen which can apply 5 ton load in two orthogonal direction. A special device using push-pull gage was developed. To measure the membrane stresses in warp and fill direction separately, a different length of the tips are used. The measuring device which can called tension meter, can be calibrated on the testing bed, and optimized the length and shape of tip.
In the congested urban areas, tunnelling close to existing structures or services often occurs due to the lack of surface space so that tunnelling-induced ground movements may cause a serious damage to the adjacent structures. This study focused on the two dimensional laboratory model pile-soil-tunnelling interaction tests using a close range photogrammetric technique. Testing equipments and procedures were Introduced, particularly features of aluminium rods regarded as the frictional granular material. The experimental result showed that the photo imaging process by the VMS and EngVis programs proved to be a useful tool in measuring the pile tip movements during the tunnelling. Consequently, the normalised pile tip movement data for the influence zones can be generated by the laboratory model tests using the Photogrammetric technique. This study presents influence zones associated with the normalized pile tip settlements due to tunnelling in the cohesionless material. The influence zones were Identified by both a laboratory model test and a numerical analysis. The normalized pile tip movements from the model test were in good agreement with the numerical analysis result. The influence zones proposed in this study could be used to decide the reasonable location of tunnel construction in the planning stage. However, the scale of model pile and model tunnel sizes must be carefully adjusted as real ones for practical application considering the ground conditions at a given site.

This paper describes a fabrication multiplexing sensor probe that employs a fiber Bragg grating(FBG) based on multiple measurements to determine the blade deflection of a wind power generator the reliability analysis of this probe is also presented. To diminish the temperature sensitivity of the FBG sensor, we form multiple CFRPs onto the upper and lower layers of the FBG and package it with an epoxy resin. As a result, the depth of the CFRP is 1mm, and the temperature sensitivity is $2.39pm/^{\circ}C$. We construct a sensor network utilizing the fabricated sensor with a blade beam model. As the number of pendulums is increased on the fore-end of the beam, the strain value is measured. The strain variation is calculated from the measurement of the load on the blade beam model by monitoring the strain of the FBG sensor. When the linear equation is applied, the strain error is 0.4% and when the finite difference method is used, the tip deflection error is 3.3%. The displacement error derived from the strain value of the FBG sensor is 4.39%. The calculated result between the measured value of the dead-end of the beam and the strain is less than 2.46% tip distortion error. Therefore, our proposed multiplexing sensor probe is a low-cost and high-reliability solution for a commercial wind power generator.

This paper describes an atomic force microscope (AFM)-based instrument for measuring the nanoscale cutting edge profiles of diamond cutting tools. The instrument consists of a combined AFM unit and an optical sensor to align the AFM tip with the top of the diamond cutting tool edge over a submicron range. In the optical sensor, a aser beam is emitted from a laser diode along the Y-axis and focused to a small beam spot with a diameter of approximately $10{\mu}m$ at the beam waist, which is then received by a photodiode. The top of the tool edge is first brought into the center of the beam waist by adjusting it in the X-Z-plane while monitoring the variation in the photodiode output. The cutting tool is then withdrawn and its top edge position at the beam center is recorded. The AFM tip can also be positioned at the beam center in a similar manner to align it with the top of the cutting edge. To reduce electronic noise interference on the photodiode output and thereby enhance the alignment accuracy, a technique is applied that can modulate the photodiode output to an AC signal by driving the laser diode with a sinusoidal current. Alignment experiments and edge profile measurements of a diamond cutting tool were carried out to verify the performance of the proposed system.

초록 The validity, of a single parameter such as stress intensity, factor K or J-integral in traditional fracture mechanics depends strongly on the geometry, and loading condition. Therefore the second parameter like T-stress measuring the stress constraint is additionally needed to characterize the general crack-tip fields. While many, research works have been done to verify, the J-T description of elastic-plastic crack-tip stress fields in plane strain specimens, limited works (especially. for bimaterials) have been performed to describe the structural surface crack-front stress fields with the two parameters. On this background, via detailed three dimensional finite element analyses for surface-cracked plates and straight pipes of homogeneous materials and bimaterials under various loadings, we investigate the extended validity or limitation of the two parameter approach. We here first develop a full 3D mesh generating program for semi-elliptical surface cracks, and calculate elastic T-stress from the obtained finite element stress field. Comparing the J-T predictions to the elastic-plastic stresses from 3D finite element analyses. we then confirm the extended validity of fracture mechanics methodology based on the J-T two parameters in characterizing the surface crack-front fields of welded plates and pipes under various loadings.
Background The loss of nasal tip support is caused by many factors and eventually results in the collapse and eventual dropping of the nasal tip. This reduces the nasolabial (NL) angle and negatively affects respiratory functions and one's appearance. Methods The aim of this retrospective study, which was conducted on 52 patients, was to present and popularize a simple and effective method for the reconstruction of a weakened columella by inserting an autologous ear cartilage graft using a sublabial approach. Results Of all the patients, three patients experienced transplant rejection. The period of follow-up observation was one to five years (mean, 27 months). The results were objectively evaluated by measuring the NL angle in standardized photos before and after the procedure at different time intervals over the follow-up period. We observed a significant increase of the NL angle (mean, $20^{\circ}$), and found these results to be durable over the long term. Of the 52 patients included in this study observed patients, three were dissatisfied (due to immediate infection and shifting of the strut), 28 were satisfied, and 21 were very satisfied. Conclusions The surgical method described here is simple and can be learned quickly. It has very good results with few complications, and is our method of choice for complex and serious cases seen in everyday rhinosurgical practice.

To improve the performance of a flexible robot arm one of the important things is the vibration displacement measurement of a flexible arm. Many types of sensors have been used to measure it, The most popular has been strain gauges which measures the deflection of the beam,. Photo sensors have also been for detecting beam displacement and accelerometers are often used to measure the beam vibration. But the vibration displacement can be obtained indirectly from these sensors. In this article a vision sensor is used as a displacement sensor to measure the vibration displacement of a flexible robot arm. Several schemes are proposed to reduce the image processing time and increase its accuracy. From the experimental results it is seen that the vision sensor can be an alternative sensor for measuring the vibration displacement and has a potential for on-line tip position control of flexible robot systems.
In the present contribution, fracture resistance of U-notched GPPS members under mixed mode I/III loading conditions is assessed by using the Averaged Strain Energy Density (ASED) criterion. This criterion has been founded based on the ASED parameter averaged over a well-defined control volume embracing the notch edge. The validation of the theoretical criterion predictions is evaluated through comparing with the results of a series of mixed mode I/III fracture tests conducted on rectangular-shaped GPPS specimens weakened by a single edge U-notch. A recently developed apparatus for mixed mode I/III fracture experiments is employed for measuring the fracture loads of the specimens. The test samples are fabricated with different notch tip radii with the aim of evaluating the influence of this major feature of the U-notched components on the mixed mode I/III fracture behavior. It is shown that the onset of brittle fracture in U-notched GPPS specimens under various combinations of tension and out-of-plane shear can well be predicted by means of the ASED criterion.
This study is concerned about the characteristics of ultrasonic-energy-added W/O type emulsified fuel. The distilled water was mixed with diesel oil by using ultrasonic energy fuel feeding system and then the SMD of sprayed droplets was measured to find out atomization characteristics of emulsified fuel by using the Malvern 2600 system. The capacitance value was measured to verify stability of the same specimen by using the digital LCR meter, EDC1630 additionally. The main results are as follows; 1) The more measuring distance increases between one hole nozzle tip and analyser bearm, the more SMD increases. 2) The more water content increases, the more capacitance value increases depending on the time. Main Parameters of the study are the amount of water content $0{\sim}30%$ by 5% in emulsified fuel, and the measurement distance, $20{\sim}140mm$ by 10mm or 20mm between nozzle tip and analyser beam.
