  • This study is to figure out where the current satisfaction with ready-to-wear clothes based on middle-aged women's body shapes is at and to propose basic considerations in its production for coming up with a better sizing system to maximize customer's satisfaction. The data obtained from measurement and questionnaire by 126 middle- aged (35-59) women which were located in Gwangju. Followings are summary of this research, 1)The satisfaction level with lower -wear is relatively lower-wear than that of upper-wear in most parts of body. 2) The results by way of putting score show three different groups. Group 1 has characteristics of front body silhouette in the small ratio of shoulder width/bust width, shoulder width/waist width and big ratio of shoulder width/hip width. And Group 3 has characteristics of front silhouette, small ratio of hip girth/thigh girth. Group 2 has a standard shape. 3) The satisfaction level with lower-wear based on middle-aged women's body shapes shows slight difference. In this category, Group 2 has higher satisfaction level than that of Group 1, while Group 1 has better shape than Group 3. 4) The items of clothes which should be considered current less satisfaction on their size and pattern are skirt and pants. In the meantime, specific body parts for the same criteria are hip girth, thigh girth. And the 43.7% of middle-aged women who responded to this study requires improvement on the fit of lower-wear.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine predictive validity of Critical Care Non-verbal Pain Scale (CNPS) and develop criteria for pain assessment using CNPS with critically ill patients who have communication problems. Methods: Data were collected from intensive care units at three major general hospitals in Seoul and Kyunggi province. During each observation, a nurse assessed pain severity using CNPS ratings (range 0-9) at four treatment stages: at rest, during central catheter dressing change (nonpainful procedure), position change and suctioning (routine painful procedures). Patients also assessed their pain using a self-report 4-point VRS-4. Results: There were significant differences between the four treatment stages except between "at rest" and "nonpainful procedure". Strong correlations were found between CNPS and VRS-4 for "at rest" (r=.552, p<.001), central catheter dressing change (r=.505, p<.001), position change (r=.709, p<.001), and suctioning (r=.662, p<.001). ROC curve analysis of CNPS based on 3 point on VRS-4 showed the cutoff point was 3 for CNPS, the starting point for pain management with 73% sensitivity, 92.2% specificity, 73% positive predictive value, and 92.8% negative predictive value. Conclusion: Results indicate that CNPS is a valid tool for measuring pain in critically ill patients with communication problems and 3 point should be the standardized pain treatment point.

  • Purpose: This study aimed at developing integrated clinical performance indicators(CPIs) through the analysis of quality improvement(QI) activities of a hospital and literature review about performance measures. Method: The CPIs were developed through the following three stages; 1)Identifying preliminary CPIs 2)A staff validity test in preliminary CPIs 3)Developing final CPIs. Result: One hundred twenty-three preliminary CPIs were developed through QI activities of the target hospital for 8 years and literature review. The results of the validity test for the preliminary CPIs supported ninety-one items. Sixty-two CPIs were selected through integration, reclassification and renaming. Then, eighteen items were deleted on account of an imprecise calculation method. Finally, forty-four CPIs were confirmed. They consisted of twenty-six items at the hospital level and eighteen items at the department level. Conclusion: CPIs can be used as criteria to evaluate the performance of healthcare organizations, and to decide the quality of healthcare for customers. This study may contribute to establishing an integrated system between QI activities and performance measurement of healthcare organizations.

  • Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) is a powerful and well established microwave remote sensing technique which enables high resolution measurement of Earth surface independent of weather conditions and sunlight illumination. KARI has been developing the first Korea SAR satellite which is scheduled to be launched in this year. The SAR satellite mainly consists of the bus platform and SAR payload. Most of all, the RF compatible design during the design phase and the verification of the RF compatibility during the testing phase is very important procedure for the in-orbit performance guarantee because the SAR payload radiates high power through the SAR antenna. In this study, the SAR satellite design criteria and verification procedure for the RF compatibility are described. In addition, this paper describes the RF full radiation testing (RF auto-compatibility testing) for the verification of the RF performance robustness, the testing configuration, and the test results.

  • This study evaluated the effect of combined rainfall observation of using rain gauge and rain radar. The effect of combined observations is to be evaluated by considering the decrease of measurement error due to combined use of design orthogonal observation methods. As an example, this study evaluated the rain gauge network of the Keum river basin, and showed how the density of rain gauges could be decreased by combining the radar observation. This study applied the researches on sampling error by North and Nakamoto(1989), Yoo et al. (1996) and Yoo (1997), also the simple NFD model for representing the rainfall field. The model parameters were decided using the rainfall characteristics (correlation time and length) estimated using the data collected in the Keum River Basin by 28 rain gauges and the operation rule of radar was assumed arbitrarily. This study considered the rain gauge density criteria provided by WMO(1994) and the rain gauge density installed in the Keum river basin to decrease the rain gauge density under the condition of introducing the radar.

  • For the mixed-mode crack problems the direction of crack growth, the crack path and the rational representation of fatigue crack growth rates should be studied to predict fatigue life and safety of structures. In this study, a round specimen which produce nearly identical effects in all loading directions is proposed to make an easy measurement of initial direction of crack growth. The mode I and mode II stress intensity factors of the specimen were calculated using finite element method, in which the square root singular stresses at the crack tip are modeled by means of four rectangular quarter-point eight-noded elements surrounding the crack tip. Experimental results for high strength aluminum alloy showed that the direction of mixed-mode crack growth agree well with maximum principal stress criterion as well as minimum strain energy density criterion, but not with maximum shear stress criterion. From data of fatigue crack growth rates using crack geometry projected on the line perpendicular to the loading direction it is easily established that mixed-mode fatigue crack growth in 5083-H115 aluminum alloy goes predominantly with mode I crack growth behaviors.

  • The purpose of this research is to provide a basic knowledge to open up for undeveloped park in process of the park policy establishment by setting up the priority of park development and valuation factor, valuation index as well as building a basic material to undeveloped neighborhood park in Daegu Metropolitan City. Thirteen urban neighborhood parks(1,841,663$m^2$) in the Daegu Metropolitan City were selected for this study. Analyzing and reviewing the previous research and literature review were conducted, and the evaluation index and analysis criteria were constructed to decide the development priority of parks. The results of this research are as follows; 1) Following to the result of the expert questionnaire test in order to estimate weight of valuation factors. It had a high score in available population, and estimated amount of the gross compensation, unpurchased land rate. On the other hand park rate of autonomous district, altitude, rate of population increase in autonomous district and a low score. 2) Generally, most f the plain type parks had a high score in the Sea level, land using pattern, an estimated amount of the gross compensation, but hill type parks had a high score the rate of green covered, park area for one person of administration building. 3) Daebong, Soosung, Dosan, 2.28 youth, Kyungnam parks were selected high priority. Soochang, Donsibong, Janggi, Dongin parks were selected middle priority. Bokhyun, Galsan, Manchon, Gusoosan parks, which were selected low priority. This research for undeveloped park is a basic research step to open up. Three many difficult things in shortage of the basic material for building valuation factor and measuring of the method measurement. The application of weight which make a decision importance among the valuation factor should have ore reasonable study and more scientific research from now because there still remains a lot of shortage of positive materials in there.

  • Today, people are becoming more conscious regarding environmental-friendliness, and the society as a whole is becoming more aware of it. With such phenomenon, the purpose of this research is to examine how comfort and pleasantness of indoor environment influences when selecting a place for multi-cultural complex. To demonstrate the stated hypothesis, I have preceded the experiment by selecting the C multi-cultural complex of closed-type structure and T multi-cultural complex of open-type structure. The next step I took, in order to validate the public's awareness of environmental-friendliness, was conducting a survey. I then deducted a conclusion through comparison and analysis of experiment measures with survey result. As a result of the research, the experiment measures of each air, light, heat condition of the T multi-cultural complex of open-type structure had a higher measurement for the comfort and pleasantness than the C multi-cultural complex of closed-type structure. Moreover, after validating the consciousness of the public through the survey, they had a tendency preferring T multi-cultural complex of open-type structure over C multi-cultural complex of closed-type structure in terms of comfort and pleasantness. To summarize, it is proper to conclude that the criteria - comfort and pleasantness of indoor environment - has influenced significantly when it comes to selecting a multi-cultural complex through both the experiment and the survey result.

  • Background: The Korean Shoulder Scoring System (KSS) is a reliable and valid procedure for discriminative assessment of the clinical status of patients with rotator cuff tears. This study evaluates the correlation between the preoperative KSS and factors in patients with rotator cuff tears. Methods: From November 2009 to June 2016, 970 patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair were retrospectively evaluated. A total of 490 patients met the study criteria. Preoperative factors included age, sex, symptom duration, mediolateral (ML) and anteroposterior (AP) tear size, acromiohumeral distance (AHD), tangent sign, tendon involvement (type I, supraspinatus; type II, supraspinatus and subscapularis; type III, supraspinatus and infraspinatus; type IV, all 3 tendons), fatty infiltration of rotator cuff muscles (group I, Goutallier stages 0 and 1; group II, Goutallier stages 2, 3, and 4), and KSS. Results: Old age, ML tear size, and AP tear size negatively correlated with the preoperative KSS (p<0.001). AHD showed a positive correlation with the preoperative KSS (p<0.001). A significantly inferior preoperative KSS was found in females and type III tendon involvement (p<0.001). For supraspinatus and infraspinatus, the preoperative KSS of group II fatty infiltration showed a significantly lower score than group I fatty infiltration (p<0.05). Conclusions: A relatively lower preoperative KSS was associated with old age, large tear size, narrow AHD, female, type III tendon involvement, and group II fatty infiltration of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus. Our study indicates that preoperative KSS can be a good measurement for the preoperative status of patients with rotator cuff tears.
