To investigate the characteristic and the cause of the yellow water zones in the estuary of keum River, physico-chemical measurement and analyses were made on seawater samples collected from 18 stations in May, July, august, October in 1992, and February in 1993 respectively. The yellow water zones were recorded as grade 9 on the forel water color meter and appeared consistently at the stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 17 through out the year. The organically polluted matter gradually increased in the study area. The nutrient concentrations of inner waters of water zones were higher than that of the surrounding waters and were over red tide criteria levels. But abnormal aggregation of phytoplanktons could not occur because of lack of light and high current velocity. In Conclusion, this yellowish colored water zone was caused not by abnormal aggregation of phytoplanktons but by inorganic matters such as sand or soil particles, $85\%$ of which consisted of suspended solids.
For maintaining adequate psychometric properties when reducing the number of items from an instrument, item level psychometrics is crucial. Strategies such as low item correlation or factor loadings, using classical test theory, have traditionally been advocated. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of a new short form assessing the impact of low back pain on physical activity. Rasch measurement model has been applied to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Activity Measure (ICF-AM). One hundred and one individuals with low back pain aged 19-89 years (mean age: $48.1{\pm}17.3$) who live in the community were participated in the study. Twenty-seven items of lifting/carrying construct of the ICF-AM were analyzed. Ten items were selected from the construct to create a short form. Item elimination criteria include: 1) high or low mean square (out of the range: .6-1.4 for the fit statistics), 2) similar item calibrations to adjacent items, 3) person separation value, and item-person map for potential gap in person ability continuum. All 10 items of the short form fit to the Rasch model except one item (i.e., carrying toddler on back). Despite its high infit and outfit statistics (1.90/2.17), the item had to be reinstated due to potential gaps at the upper extreme of person ability level. The short form had a slightly better spread of person ability continuum compared to the entire set of item. The created short form separated individuals with low back pain into nearly 4 groups, while the entire set of items separated the individuals into 6 groups. The findings prompted multidimensional models for better explanation of the lifting/carrying domain. The item level psychometrics based on the Rasch model can be useful in developing short forms with rationally retained items.

Purpose: The attachment level is strongly associated with tooth loss and provides useful information on patterns of destruction of the periodontium. The presence of horizontal attachment loss would not be detected in clinical measurement. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to estimate the patterns of periodontal destruction based on the attachment area and horizontal attachment loss in extracted teeth due to severe periodontitis. Materials and Methods: 307 teeth satisfied the criteria for assessment. An indirect method, based on digital images obtained from a digital camera and an image analysis program, was used to calculate the area of root surface and attachment loss and the extent of horizontal attachment loss. The data were analysed using SPSS. Results: No statistically significant differences among root surfaces were observed in anterior teeth on the loss of attachment area. However, in posterior teeth statistically significant differences in palatal surfaces of maxillary and mandibular premolar and molar surfaces compared with buccal surfaces were observed. Horizontal attachment loss was observed in 21.5% of the teeth examined. Frequency of horizontal attachment loss was highest in the maxillary first premolar (34.8%), followed by the maxillary second premolar (27.3%) and maxillary canine (25%). The mean length of horizontal attachment loss was 1.5mm. Conclusion: More meticulous examination will be needed of the palatal surfaces of maxillary and mandibular premolar and molar teeth. The percentage of teeth with horizontal attachment loss greater than 2.1 mm was 5.2%. Considering the length of curette blades, about 5.2% of teeth were not properly debrided. Therefore, Additional supportive therapy such as local drug delivery has to be considered in treatment of the first maxillary, second premolar and canine due to the high prevalence of horizontal attachment loss.

The improvement of process skills has been one of the most important goals in secondary science education. To achieve this goal, it is essential to develop an instrument for evaluating inquiry skills in addition to improving science curricula, inquiry teaching methods, and other educational environment. There are a lot of instruments in testing science process skills in Korea as well as America and Europe. However, it has been difficult to find the instruments that have a characteristic in content and form. The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument for evaluating science process skills using line graph. This study examined the whole body of scientific process and identified 6 component skills. Three or four items for each component process skills were developed and revised by pilot test and field test. The instrument is considered valid and reliable, for the content validity is 78% and the reliability(KR-20) is 0.82. The discrimination index is 0.57 and difficulty index is 0.47, which also suffice the criteria of good test.
The data collection and questionnaire survey were conducted from July 1, 2016, to August 30, 2016, and the final analysis was conducted with 273 copies. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS (V 23.0) and AMOS (V 21.0) programs. In order to identify the characteristics of the respondents, the frequency analysis was performed, and the reliability analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed for each measurement item. The conceptual reliability (CR) and standard variance extraction (AVE) values were calculated to verify the validity. Correlation analysis was conducted to measure the associations among the derived factors. For the hypothesis test, a structural equation modeling was used to test the jointness and organic causality of the whole model. In addition, an alternative model with a nested relationship with the basic model was set up to test the adjustment effect of the learner's educational environment on the educational satisfaction and behavioral intention. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of educational environment on the educational satisfaction and behavioral intention of students at a cooking education institute in Busan. The implication of this study is that the operators of educational institutions should recognize the human factors as important means of marketing for the activation of cooking education and select instructors by applying more systematic and objective criteria when hiring instructors. Also, consideration should be given to support programs such as training programs and incentives to develop instructor's abilities. In addition, the positive educational outcomes of students may have a positive impact on financial performance, such as livelihood of other students and sales of educational institutions.
The purpose of this paper is to suggest a scientific evaluation criteria for integration of person with disabilities by developing and measuring the index and indicator of disability integration. Disability integration index will be expressed in a simple number to represent the current situation which will summarize the level of integration of persons with disabilities from the perspective of outcome. Disability integration index is composed of four indicators-social attitude toward person disability, physical environment, participation in society expressed by employment and education, and social institution. Observation research was conducted to measure first two indicators of social attitude and physical environment while existing statistics and data were analyzed for other two of participation in society and social institution. The result of this study showed that disability integration index of Korea was 0.4832. Therefore this paper comes to conclude that the level of integration in Korea approaches to 48 percent which is half of ideal integration. However, this study has its limitations in selection of indicators and index formula which in turn must be followed by next studies.
The objective of this study is to find the most effective educational method on Sex and AIDS/HIV among young people in Korea. The number of people with HIV amounts to 1,224 as of Sep. 2000, and is increasing continuously, especially among young people(National Institute of Health, 2000). In setting up the policy of health education on Sex and AIDS, the criteria should be the effectiveness. By two-stage cluster sampling, 4,713 students were selected from among the 19,093 students from 44 middle and high schools and divided into three groups and taken the education with three different methods( 〈lecture with slides show〉, 〈lecture without any material〉 and 〈lecture through broadcasting system〉) by the same lecturer with the same contents for about 50 minutes. To compare the effects of education by methods, the tests on the AIDS knowledge, AIDS attitude on AIDS and Sexuality attitudes with self-administered questionnaire were implemented three times, that is, ‘before’, ‘right after’ and ‘2 weeks later’ of the education. As to the degrees of change of AIDS knowledge, AIDS attitudes, Sexuality attitudes and subjective evaluation of the education, 〈lecture with slides show〉 was the most effective, 〈lecture without any material〉 was the second and 〈lecture through broadcasting system〉 was the least effective, respectively. In the cost-effectiveness analysis using the results of this study, 〈lecture with slides show〉 turned out to be the most effective, and 〈lecture through broadcasting system〉 was the second and 〈lecture without any material〉 was least effective. From these results, it is suggested that 〈lecture with slides show〉 is more effective health educational methods on Sex and AIDS than 〈lecture without any material〉 or 〈lecture through broadcasting system〉.
This study is to figure out where the current satisfaction with ready-to-wear clothes based on middle-aged women's body shapes is at and to propose basic considerations in its production for coming up with a better sizing system to maximize customer's satisfaction. The data obtained from measurement and questionnaire by 126 middle- aged (35-59) women which were located in Gwangju. Followings are summary of this research, 1)The satisfaction level with lower -wear is relatively lower-wear than that of upper-wear in most parts of body. 2) The results by way of putting score show three different groups. Group 1 has characteristics of front body silhouette in the small ratio of shoulder width/bust width, shoulder width/waist width and big ratio of shoulder width/hip width. And Group 3 has characteristics of front silhouette, small ratio of hip girth/thigh girth. Group 2 has a standard shape. 3) The satisfaction level with lower-wear based on middle-aged women's body shapes shows slight difference. In this category, Group 2 has higher satisfaction level than that of Group 1, while Group 1 has better shape than Group 3. 4) The items of clothes which should be considered current less satisfaction on their size and pattern are skirt and pants. In the meantime, specific body parts for the same criteria are hip girth, thigh girth. And the 43.7% of middle-aged women who responded to this study requires improvement on the fit of lower-wear.

Purpose: This study was done to examine predictive validity of Critical Care Non-verbal Pain Scale (CNPS) and develop criteria for pain assessment using CNPS with critically ill patients who have communication problems. Methods: Data were collected from intensive care units at three major general hospitals in Seoul and Kyunggi province. During each observation, a nurse assessed pain severity using CNPS ratings (range 0-9) at four treatment stages: at rest, during central catheter dressing change (nonpainful procedure), position change and suctioning (routine painful procedures). Patients also assessed their pain using a self-report 4-point VRS-4. Results: There were significant differences between the four treatment stages except between "at rest" and "nonpainful procedure". Strong correlations were found between CNPS and VRS-4 for "at rest" (r=.552, p<.001), central catheter dressing change (r=.505, p<.001), position change (r=.709, p<.001), and suctioning (r=.662, p<.001). ROC curve analysis of CNPS based on 3 point on VRS-4 showed the cutoff point was 3 for CNPS, the starting point for pain management with 73% sensitivity, 92.2% specificity, 73% positive predictive value, and 92.8% negative predictive value. Conclusion: Results indicate that CNPS is a valid tool for measuring pain in critically ill patients with communication problems and 3 point should be the standardized pain treatment point.

Purpose: This study aimed at developing integrated clinical performance indicators(CPIs) through the analysis of quality improvement(QI) activities of a hospital and literature review about performance measures. Method: The CPIs were developed through the following three stages; 1)Identifying preliminary CPIs 2)A staff validity test in preliminary CPIs 3)Developing final CPIs. Result: One hundred twenty-three preliminary CPIs were developed through QI activities of the target hospital for 8 years and literature review. The results of the validity test for the preliminary CPIs supported ninety-one items. Sixty-two CPIs were selected through integration, reclassification and renaming. Then, eighteen items were deleted on account of an imprecise calculation method. Finally, forty-four CPIs were confirmed. They consisted of twenty-six items at the hospital level and eighteen items at the department level. Conclusion: CPIs can be used as criteria to evaluate the performance of healthcare organizations, and to decide the quality of healthcare for customers. This study may contribute to establishing an integrated system between QI activities and performance measurement of healthcare organizations.
