  • In this paper, a disturbance observer based sliding mode control is proposed to attenuate disturbance responses in an active magnetic bearing system, which is subject to base motion. An algorithm which decouples disturbance observation dynamics from sliding mode dynamics is suggested. This algorithm preserves the robustness of the sliding mode control and satisfies reachability condition in the presence of external disturbance and parameter uncertainties. Along with experimental results, it is shown that the proposed control is effective in disturbance rejection without any additive disturbance measurement.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate not only the variability in the timing and amount of the maximum pubertal spurt in cranial base and mandible, but also its interrelationship with the timing of peak height velocity. This study was carried out by analysing biannual serial lateral cephalometric radiographs of twenty-six males and twenty-one females who were taken from 8.5years to 16.5years old of mean age, according to the established land-marks and linear measurements. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. Prevalance of the maximum growth spurt more than 80 percentage was occurred in all measurements of cranial base and mandible, except posterior cranial base length in the female. 2. In all measurements of cranial base and mandible, the maximum spurt was occurred earlier in the female than the male while it was greater in male in all measurements except ramal height. 3. In body height measurement, the peak height velocity was occurred 2 years earlier for the female(11.0 years old) than the male(13.0 years old). 4. The timing of maximum spurt in anterior cranial base length and total mandibular length in both sexes and ramal height in the female were coincided with PHV. The maximum spurt was occurred in both sexes in all measurements 2 years before or after PHV, except mandibular body length and posterior cranial base length the in female. 5. In all ages, there was significant correlation between the total mandibular length and ramal height, and was also correlation between total cranial base length and anterior cranial base length(P<0.05). However, there was no significant correlation between the ramal height and mandibular body length. In addition, there was also no any correlation between the anterior cranial base length and posterior cranial base length in all ages(P>0.05).

  • Wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA), high speed packet access (HSPA) and HSPA+ are third generation partnership project (3GPP) standards. These systems are the major wireless communication standards. In order to test the performance of WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal in a base station, the measurement hardware is required to the evaluation of the transmitted signals. In this paper, the algorithm for the performance measurement of the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ is proposed. Also, the performance of the measurement algorithm is used to evaluate the generated signal by the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal generator. Generally, the algorithm of normal modems cannot be applied to the measurement system because the signal measurement equipment needs to guarantee the high accuracy. So, the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal measurement algorithm for the accurate measurement is proposed. By the simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed measurement algorithm has good performance compared with the specification. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can be usefully applied to verify the performance of the measurement using the simulation.

  • Compressive sensing (CS) has to face with two challenges of computational complexity reconstruction and low coding efficiency. As a solution, this paper presents a novel spatially scalable Kronecker two layer compressive sensing framework which facilitates reconstruction up to three spatial resolutions as well as much improved CS coding performance. We propose a dual-resolution sensing matrix based on the quincunx sampling grid which is applied to the base layer. This sensing matrix can provide a fast-preview of low resolution image at encoder side which is utilized for predictive coding. The enhancement layer is encoded as the residual measurement between the acquired measurement and predicted measurement data. The low resolution reconstruction is obtained from the base layer only while the high resolution image is jointly reconstructed using both two layers. Experimental results validate that the proposed scheme outperforms both conventional single layer and previous multi-resolution schemes especially at high bitrate like 2.0 bpp by 5.75dB and 5.05dB PSNR gain on average, respectively.

  • In this paper, a cost-effective integrated 3D system for measuring and sizing foot is proposed. The proposed system employs two CCDs and a laser line projector which are capable of accurately measuring foot. The measurement is based upon the biologically motivated stereo vision principle providing ruggedness against minor system distortions. According to the tolerance, calibration between two different views are implicitly applied. Furthermore, the measurement system employs a measurement base, a frame grabber, a CCD moving cart, a stepping motor and computer. Analysis and design procedure is presented for the calculation of the 3D foot data and the proposed system. Experimental results on the proposed system would verify the concept and system operation.

  • A new magnetoelastic technique of oil viscosity measurement, where the oil viscosity is estimated by frequency shift of natural oscillations of magnetoelastic ribbon, is implemented in this study. Laboratory tests of the detector prototype are performed for measurement of viscosity of base synthetic and mineral oils. It was found that measurement accuracy was better when damping factor was estimated in comparison with accuracy of frequency of damped oscillations. Thus the oil viscosity was calibrated as a function of number of pulses of the damped oscillations of magnetoelastic ribbon. Result generally showed that developed detector is promising for in line oil viscosity measurement in wide viscosity range from 10 cSt up to 600 cSt, while the viscosity measurement was relatively instable when the viscosity of test oil was over 400 cSt.

  • Since existing measurement sites are required to construct a high-cost PM measuring device and a measuring site of a large area, there is a limit to the construction of a high-resolution measurement network. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a low-cost, high-performance PM measuring device (as an alternative technology) that can increase the resolution of PM measurement, and it is necessary to establish a base to provide real-time PM information for whole people. Therefore, in this study, the alternative technique (light scattering method) for achieving the above object was examined, performance evaluation was carried out, and it was verified that the light scattering method was usable. Various PM measurement results were compared and analyzed to find PM monitoring points and resolutions we would like to propose.

  • As the necessity of land information has increased according to development of computer and Information-communication, people have been interested in the satellite measurement system that can update Cadastral and Geographical information rapidly and exactly. Most Cadastral base points which had limitation of measurement technology in the 1910s were less accurate and were destroyed through the Korean War. They also many problems in the process of reinstallation. So, they require the quick and correct method of measurement in re-equipment of a base point and a parcel based survey and so on. This study intends to present the GPS survey direction by understanding and analysing all sorts of problems rising in case of applying the GPS to cadastral area in order to increase the efficiency of the GPS measurement, and also develop the GPS kinematic survey program to apply to the efficiency of a kinematic survey. As a result of research, I could confirm the accuracy of Cadastral base points in Kwangju area by using Korea GPS array and a base point, and could get the result similar to existent cadastral survey result with the coordinate conversion program of Cadastral technology research institute. We however have to pay our attention to the transformation of the plane coordinates because the difference between tens of cm and the existing result can outbreak according to the Gauss conformal double projection method. And, I could figure out the practicality of the developed GPS kinematic survey program, compared with common use program. I expect that it can be applied to the digital cadastral survey and the cadastral map renewal as well.
