  • The Pseudo-dynamic test is a new experimental technique for simulating the earthquake response of structures or structural components in the time domain. It is especially efficient for testing specimens that are too large, heavy or strong to be tested on a shaking table. But, in general, the responses obtained in the Pseudo-dynamic test can be distorted by the experimental errors inevitably during control and measurement procedures. The studies are to investigate the effects of the experimental errors on the Pseudo-dynamic responses and apply a correction method to the Pseudo-dynamic testing algorithm. It is shown that the corrected responses using the equivalent energy compensation method are in a good correlation with the theoretical ones. Thus, the corrected Pseudo-dynamic responses could be reliable for evaluating the seismic performance of structural systems.

  • A high resolution digital cinematic Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) has been developed. The system consists of a high speed CCD camera, a continuous Ar-ion laser and a computer with camera controller. To improve the spatial resolution, we adopt a Recursive Technique for velocity interrogation. At first, we obtain a velocity vector fur a larger interrogation window size based on the conventional two-frame cross-correlation PIV analysis using the FFT algorithm. Based on the knowing velocity information, more spatially resolved velocity vectors are obtained in the next iteration step with smaller interrogation windows. When the correct velocity vector at the first step is found to be critical, a Multiple Correlation Validation(MCV) technique is applied to decrease the spurious vectors. The MCV technique turns out to improve SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of the correlation table. The developed cinematic PIV method has been applied to the measurement of the unsteady flow characteristics of a Rushton turbine mixer. A total of 3,245 instantaneous velocity vectors were successfully obtained with 4 ms time resolution. The acquired spatial resolution corresponds to the conventional high resolution digital PIV system using a 1K ${\times}$ 1K CCD camera.

  • The online realtime positioning error compensation system 'SKY-PACS' is developed to correct geometric errors, thermal errors and tool deflection errors induced by cutting forces on the vertical machining center. 'SKY-PACS' communicates position commands and position compensation signals with the CNC controller at 100Hz, which is CNC control frequency. So the compensation procedure can be applied during axis movement. Using 'SKY-PACS', Maximum 1 axis positioning accuracy was corrected from 5{\mu}m$ to 2{\mu}m$and the squareness error of X-Y table was corrected from 51{\mu}m$/m to below 4{\mu}m$/m. The error compensation under the cutting condition is carried out by ISO10791-7. And the measurement of test-pieces shows that the roundness is corrected rom 8{\mu}m$ to below 5{\mu}m$.

  • In this study, a novel long term stabilization method of optical feedback for the resonant cavity coupled semiconductor lasers is proposed, and its utility was shown experimentally. The proposed method is realized by using the pahse discriminator of optical feedback with high gain. The phase discriminating signal was obtained by the polarization spectroscopic technique using reflection light from the external reflector, which is a confocal Fabry-Perot cavity. Experimental result shows that stable control state can be maintained up to 20 hours. The period can be increased by reducing size of the system and/or fixing position stably of optical parts used, which were arranged on an optical table by using magnetic bases in this experiment. The proposed long-term stabilization method of optical feedack of a resonant external cavity coupled semiconductor laser is very useful for the field of high sensitivity measurement, and for the use in the laboratory level in particular.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to compare the hamstring-to-quadriceps strength(H/Q) ratios in collegiate soccer players and normal age-matched healthy students, and the secondary purpose was to investigate the changes in the H/Q ratio according to the degree of knee flexion. Twenty-five subjects volunteered to participate in this study. The study group comprised 12 healthy male collegiate soccer players, and the control group, 13 healthy age-matched male collegiate students. The modified N-K table was used for isometric strength measurement(unit: N). Mann-Whitney tests were performed to determine the differences in the H/Q ratios of soccer players and age-matched students at different knee flexion angles of the dominant leg. The strength of the hamstring muscle in the study group was significantly lower than that observed in the control group at knee flexion angles of $60^{\circ}$ (p<.001), $90^{\circ}$ (p<.01), and $120^{\circ}$ (p<05). The strength of the quadriceps muscle in the study group was significantly higher than that observed in the control group at flexion angles of $30^{\circ}$ (p<.001) and $60^{\circ}$ (p<.05). The H/Q ratios in the study and control groups differed significantly at all angles ($60^{\circ}$, p<.001, $90^{\circ}$, p<.001 and $120^{\circ}$, p<.001).

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to improve the working environment by identifying the work satisfaction of the cleaning workers of the aircraft and measuring and assessing the harmful factors of the cleaning process. Methods: We asked 23 cleaning companies for questionnaires and got 100 answers from 5 companies. The A-E Airline health manager has been contacted to establish a site survey schedule. The in-flight and lounge were measured using direct reading equipment. The harmful factor to be measured are noise, dust, temperature, volatile organic compound, total airborne bacteria, and total airborne bacteria. Results: Uncomfortable positions when replacing blanket, cleaning the table, and cleaning the floor have been identified as factor that reduce work satisfaction. Noise when replacing newspapers and cleaning toilets has been identified as a factor that lowers work satisfaction. Temperature and humidity were found to reduce work satisfaction during in-flight disinfection. Measurements of aircraft cabin and lounge with direct read equipment have shown that none of the items exceed the exposure criteria. Conclusions: As a result of measuring direct-reading equipment, no items exceeded the exposure criteria for each harmful factor. A clear survey of the working environment is required based on the results, and additional research is needed using personal sample measurement.

  • It is very difficult to quantize the ECG analysis because the decision criterion for ECG is different with each other depending on the medical specialists of the heart and there are measured detecting errors for each ECG measurement system. Therefore, we developed the real-time ECG identification system using digital fuzzy processor for STD-BUS, in order to reduce ambiguity generated in the process of ECG identification and to analyze the irregular ECG stastically to ECG's repetition interval. The variables such as AGE (months), width of QRS, average RRI, and RRI were used to classify the ECG, and were applied to ECG signal indentification system which is developed for the purpose of research. It was found that the automatic diagnosis of ECG signal was possible in the real time process which was impossible in general process of algorithm.

  • The GOCI atmospheric correction overland surfaces is essential for the time-series analysis of terrestrial environments with the very high temporal resolution. We develop an operational GOCI atmospheric correction method over land surfaces, which is rather different from the one developed for ocean surface. The GOCI atmospheric correction method basically reduces gases absorption and Rayleigh and aerosol scatterings and to derive surface reflectance from at-sensor radiance. We use the 6S radiative transfer model that requires several input parameters to calculate surface reflectance. In the sensitivity analysis, aerosol optical thickness was the most influential element among other input parameters including atmospheric model, terrain elevation, and aerosol type. To account for the highly variable nature of aerosol within the GOCI target area in northeast Asia, we generate the spatio-temporal aerosol maps using AERONET data for the aerosol correction. For a fast processing, the GOCI atmospheric correction method uses the pre-calculated look up table that directly converts at-sensor radiance to surface reflectance. The atmospheric correction method was validated by comparing with in-situ spectral measurements and MODIS reflectance products. The GOCI surface reflectance showed very similar magnitude and temporal patterns with the in-situ measurements and the MODIS reflectance. The GOCI surface reflectance was slightly higher than the in-situ measurement and MODIS reflectance by 0.01 to 0.06, which might be due to the different viewing angles. Anisotropic effect in the GOCI hourly reflectance needs to be further normalized during the following cloud-free compositing.
